Tweed is great. And a gray tweed jacket looks particularly badass when paired with a red v-neck sweater and a Smith & Wesson Model 29 .44 Magnum. Iconic.
My uncle used to weave harris tweed many years ago when he was alive. On Scalpay the isle of harris. Had the loom in his shed watched him weave many a tine when i was a wee boy.
Hi Ash - lovely video. I wear tweed all the time in my day to day work. I have around a dozen tweed jackets and four or five tweed vests (and around 6 knitwear cardigan vests). Combined with normal dress shirts (with or without a tie), a pair of corduroys, chinos or moleskins the vests and jackets are perfect. I always get complimented on how "dressed up" I am, even though I know I am dressing casually (for a gentleman). I agree with pretty much everything you said. Keep up the great work!
A tweed jacket is the most versatile there is. It works perfectly with my one-step-up-or-down rule. My favorite is the black and white salt and pepper Irish tweed. The subtle beauty of the material enables it to fit into any circumstances. (And to scent aficionados, a few sprays of Quorum or Yatagan are recommended to complete the image!)
Hi Ash. I live in the Irish countryside so tweed is a must have for me. I own a lightweight Donegal tweed for Spring and Autumn which I pair with a waistcoat for those chillier evenings. I also own a heavier herringbone Harris tweed for winter which I often wear with a contrasting polo neck jumper for those really cold days. I agree with you regarding the corduroy trousers as a suitable contrast. Tweed for me is a way of keeping snug and warm while still looking smart and stylish. I'm sure the buyer of that lovely jacket will have a great time wearing it with confidence.
I am a fan of tweed and especially since retiring. I have sported it in all the ways you have mentioned including shooting afield. I usually like tweed with a cotton Oxford shirt V neck sweater or cardigan. Corduroy trousers brogue shoes or boots. Also a dress shirt or tattersall shirt and tie. You can also sport a cravat. Flat caps and fedoras to top it off. Loved the video and suggestions Ash. Cheers Ron
A tip chaps. If you get a windowpane check, make sure the cuffs are real if you plan to have the sleeves adjusted. Normally a tailor could adjust at the shoulder if he needed to, but this will muck up the check, which should align across the chest and arm.
I absolutely love my Harris tweed suit from Peter Christian in the UK and enjoy the versatile options for separate as well as full suit a must have for any Gentleman greetings from the United States of America Ash
Looks great Kevin. I usually wear knitted or moleskin waist coats under tweed jackets, or matching tweed waistcoats. I wear my tweeds almost every day for about 5ish months for my work and leisure. To dress it up a little, I wear chinos or depending on the day, nice jeans. Footwear for me depends on the day and job at hand. I almost forgot, button up cardigans and light wait jumpers also work great, lastly I always wear a pocket square.
That tweed jacket is one of the best I’ve seen. I would go with dark or black Levi jeans, navy dress shirt, dark brown belt and a pair of dark brown Church’s, maybe the Consul.
First: Congratulations Kevin on obtaining a wonderful jacket at a discount. Second: I like your Walking Coat but I cannot find it on the Gurteen website. Did you purchase it some time ago and it is no longer manufactured?
@@TheChapsGuide Yes, Ash, completely agree per Peter Christian. They offer some excellent tweed jackets. I recently bought the "bronze" jacket and love it. As it happily turns out, it's the same tweed design as the flat cap that I bought last year at Robert Bunny on the village square in Grassington (North Yorkshire).
I believe that a tweed jacket should be viewed as a foundational garment in a gentleman's wardrobe. As I look back on my youth I think my first jacket was a tweed.

This made my day.
You Dirty boy Harry

Looks like a great jacket, good choice Kevin.
I agree.

I have several tweed jackets and coats. One of the most versatile, and stylish types of clothing I own! Only thing my wardrobe lacks is a tweed suit!

Awesome jacket! I love wearing my one here in Cádiz, as I just don’t see them here 🙂
Been trying to figure out how to style my harris tweed safari jacket. I'm leaning towards wearing it as a blazer under my barbour.
I love tweed! Best jacket by far. Not seen as so informal in the US, hence more opportunities to wear it. Harder to get in the US, sadly.

Just getting that done now for the morning 😊
Please can you do a tier list on where to buy suits in the UK. I've searched high and low on RUclips to no avail

It is an old model. Purchased from Vinted.
Tweed with leather elbow patches would be cool 😎
Oddly, Tweed is hard to find in my area. Any brand recommendations? Looking for a Tweed flat cap and jacket. Thanks
Gurteen, Peter Christian, Brook Taverner
