Depends on the type of tomato which then determines trellis type. Indeterminate tomatoes are sucker prunes so one vine growing up a string. Determinates are supported on either side by twine run parallel to the ground every 6 inches in elevation.

how often should you prune?
I prune the suckers every 3 days because the growth is very rapid.
