4 guys, 1 piano, 1 drum set, 1 bass and 1 guitar. Magic.
In the later years they had Spike Edney on keyboard backstage in order to make it possible for Freddie to perform in front -!
@@anne-mariesindruprix4792 He also played guitar on some songs.
Utterly ❤!
Freddie once said "if you want to hear the studio versions of their songs, stay at home and listen to the albums". They changed the pace of their songs so each concert performance is unique.
Uncle Freddie never used auto tune what heard from him was 100% Talent 😘😍🥰 R.I.P Uncle Freddie 🌹❤
Freddie ❤️😪🌷
Shannon....get real!...there was no auto tune in those days😉
@@josephinemonahan915 agree,but he sounds great..unlike the robo-musicians of today
Bit hard to use something that wasn’t even invented until 1997…6 years AFTER he died
Roger Taylor is an excellent drummer and singer. It’s his voice that goes high in Bohemian Rhapsody.
It's Roger singing the background vocals throughout! He is amazing to sing and drum at the same time!
What exactly are you doing with that car Roger?😂
Freddie once said he could sing so high that only dogs could hear him!!🤣🤣👍🏼
Roger can sing high, but on Bohemian Rhapsody all the vocals were done by Freddie, then layered onto the track
His falsetto is so flawless… while killing it at the drums! Omg.
Damn, the tone from John Deacon's bass in this performance is amazing.
Queen's secret weapon
BEST BAND OF ALL TIME
I was in the crowd as a young teen. We traveled 14 hours by car to see this performance. Well worth it. My entire family was at the concert. My dad was not really a Queen fan until this concert.
Thanks to the young guy, in the blue cap, on the right for acknowledging John Deacon on bass. Most reviewers totally overlook his contribution to the band. If you want to really hear his skill on bass, check out Millionaires Waltz. Amazing! Love Deaky.
Hi. Carol...yes John is definitely overlooked sometimes...he makes playing the bass look so easy....what about his solo in Liar?...live at Hammersmith Odeon..amazing!..Hi John, I hope you’re keeping well🌺
Also he wrote Another One Bites The Dust. A great song. But there will never be another Freddie! Miss him. Vocal and musical geniuses!!!
Yes! Can't forget John! He contributed so much more than anyone knows!
John wrote a lot of their songs too.
Roger on the drums and singing is amazing too.
None of them were vocally trained INCLUDING Freddie. Freddie god given gift 👑❣️👑❣️👑
I seen Queen in 1977 live and it was phenomenal!
YES !
You are right. If I remember correctly, Tim Rice said that if Freddie had been trained, he wouldn't have been able to sing the way he did. Thank god he wasn't trained.
@@carlstevenwilletts great point Carl, would have restricted him certainly.
the greatest vocalist and frontman of all time guys
I was fortunate to see Queen live in concert back in August of 1980 at the Baltimore Civic Center. Freddie owned the crowd the moment he stepped on stage. What a show!
I also saw them on that tour, in Memphis 8/5/80. Saw them in ‘74 & ‘78, too. And of course you’re right- they were a force of nature live, and Freddie always had surprises for us, of one sort or another!
@@3ScotsInk After you gave the date of the Memphis show, I had to check. The Baltimore show was on August 23. I still have the ticket stub in a photo album. One of many.
Awesome that you kept souvenirs. Wish now that I had. I met Freddie at the hotel after the 74 show where Queen was actually the warm up band, though I’d been a fan for a year by then, and didn’t even ask for an autograph. Sounds crazy now, but he was so different offstage- very soft spoken, friendly, and human, it just seemed to me that it would’ve felt, like, inappropriate to ask for that. Anyway, it’s always nice to run into someone else who saw the same tours that I did. Memories, and in your case, memorabilia to last a lifetime.
Brian May is one of the best guitarists ever. Roger Taylor is criminally underrated on drums. But, it's easy to get lost behind the brilliant Freddy Mercury.
And no mention of John Deacon’s mastery on bass?
And of course Deacy on bass
*Freddie
What ab the fact that Roger Taylor could be a lead singer for a band
and we have that guy on bass !! ahahah
Must see Queen - "White Queen" - Live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975. You will be blown away!!!
YES!! Great suggestion!
Me too.!
Anyone knows just how awesome it was to see Queen 3 times... 1978, 1980, 1982???.... I do !!!!
They were the ULTIMATE live band! Every song. Every performance. Every time. Freddie was a rock God! Long live The King of Queen!!! Love of my life.
QUEEN IN THESUPER 70S... 70,GRRR RATE! queen in the 8s ....DiSGUTING!, PAR FOR THE 8S😅
Unless you are homosexual.
Think he would have preferred to have been called the Queen lol
Kudos please to drummer Roger for his incredible backing vocals the entire song!!!!!
Roger Taylor of Duran Duran (drummer) always said his idol was Roger Taylor of Queen - he could sing and drum like no one else! Queen had an amazing lineup of artists!
The kid on the right at the end, "Jesus Christ". 😂 Nailed it! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I was fortunate enough to see Queen twice in the Seventies and were the most incredible shows that I have ever seen. Freddie was the most phenomenal showman that I’ve ever seen live, a once in a lifetime experience....
I was at LIVE AID in Philadelphia , they paused our part of the show from England and we watched on HUGE TV screens ..what a day it was
Was there as well. Unforgettable experience.
Was in Sydney, Australia
Rodger Taylor Drumming and backing vocals, never gets enough credit!!!!!
Freddie. One of the sexiest men to have ever graced a stage.
Er, well Lynda, I've something to tell you...
@@willswomble7274And what exactly would that be?
@@LyndaHill He came from a very traditional, strict family but 'wanted to be free', BIGTIME...
I was at that concert. I saw them twice in Montreal and at the LiveAid concert. You are right, they were better live than the studio version. Being at the Live Aid concert was the experience of a lifetime. But seeing them in Montreal also blew my mind. This was the era when musicians had pure raw talent. By the way, it wasn't beer. Freddy never drank alcool on stage. It was tea with honey and lemon. I am lucky to have been able to see some majestic concerts from Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc. That was real music!!!
I think a lot of people don't realise just how good the other 3 in the group were in their own right. They all wrote hits songs for Queen and could sing. Freddie was a once in a century talent though and his star just shone brighter.
Freddie, the best voice of Rock yesterday, today and forever.
Nope, that honor belongs to Stephen Ray Perry. He’s dubbed “The Voice,” not Freddie. Even Brian May acknowledged that Steve’s voice was once in a lifetime. Plus, this year, Steve was voted greatest male vocalist by Billboard Magazine’s fan poll. Fans picked Steve at 67%. Sorry, he just wasn’t as good as Steve.
Freddy’s vocals a lot of times sound forced. I’m not saying he’s not amazing. I’m not saying he’s one of the greatest. He’s not the greatest. That distinction belongs to Steve. He can hit the highest of highs and slide down the low and back up to high again with absolutely no effort, no cracking, his voice no forced notes he’s just amazing! There’s never been anyone like him and there won’t ever be anyone like him again. If you have any doubts about that, you should go listen to the live versions of Patiently, Lay It Down, Why Can’t This Night Go On Forever, Mother/Father…
Those songs I’ll have extreme local acrobatics in them and Steve has every note flawlessly live. Even in this version of somebody to love, you can hear the forced notes from Freddie sometimes. You’ll never hear that in a live version from Steve Perry.
I’m not saying Freddy is an amazing like I said he is. But he is Nazi. He’s not even close to Steve Perry’s voice.
It's a secret, but on that day, Queen produced so much energy the city of Montreal had free electricity during the concert! 😁
👍😁😁😁😁😁😁😁👍
Wish I were there.
This is why the SUPER 70S WERE SUPER!!
@@kenperkins7921 They were the best years of my life and I'd do it all again but this time I'm gonna take more pictures!😉👑
😂❤ great!
It takes a special talent to pull off what Roger Taylor did. They are all so amazing. I love Queen!
Dont stop me now it's rated the happiest song on earth.
Freddie Forever Loved & Missed. .xx
Love Queen.seen them twice. Amazing. No auto tune, their vocals were amazing,Freddie was & will always be the ultimate performer. Such a talented group. Sir Brian Harold May, PhD in astrophysics,on tenure for nasa too. Amazing. Freddie had a degree in design,Roger was a trainee dentist & John an electrical engineer. All talented
Shout out to Roger Taylor for bringing those back up vocals! // I start my day with this performance almost every single day.
He was the best lead singer no band ever had.
Deb.. great point
Adore Roger Taylor, the drummer, too!! John Deacon the bass guitarist was hardly mentioned, & was always the way, he wrote songs too. Brian May (lead guitarist) is incredible too!! Good old Freddie....RIP
Each member of Queen was legendary. Unbelievable talents. Of course Freddie had some extra brilliant shine.
Please also watch "Queen Live Aid" from 1985 with their also big big Hits "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" - thanks so much for showing this one :) - cool !!
It's good quality because it was filmed. Freddie was wonderful, but kudos to Roger, playing his heart out on the drums and doing vocals at the same time, taking the high notes, with his head twisted to one side for the mic! Brian and John on top form as always.
I was at that concert , in fact 2 in Montreal and the liveaid concert and I can tell you, filming or not, they were better luvr that the studio version. !!
Aunque no hubiese sido filmado sus interpretaciones eran brillantes, nunca fueron menos.
What’s it being filmed gotta do with the quality??? It’s good quality because it was filmed using 35mm cameras (cameras used for filming movies), also the dvd of this show was upgraded to hd and 4k
I love how Freddie and Roger switched lead vocals so that Freddie could do all those delicious sound effect back up sounds. S P E C T A C U L A R !!!!
The best band of all time.
The greatest frontman of popular music. The combination of stage presence, vocal, instrumental musicality and ability. Oh and he wrote some memorable tunes as well...
This performance was epic, and I must admit that I teared up a bit because of of the band's complete commitment and musicianship of this song. No one can compare to Freddie and Brian.
There are bands that can play great live and some that can't. Queen was one of the best live bands ever. Super talented group that had honed their skills and stage show to a very high level.
Way too many superlatives needed to even remotely describe Queen and their live performances. Totally in synch with each other - this really is one of the iconic-of-all-time live performances!
Respect to the three of you for treating this with the respect it deserved. And as Bette Davis quipped fasten ya seat belts it’s going to be a bumpy ride!!
Queen doing Live Aid-mind blowing.
Save Me from the same concert! One of the best songs ever.
I absolutely love this song! Lord I miss Freddie!
Speaking of respect for the other members. You should check out Brian May(the guitarist with the hair XD) performing Love Of My Life Live after Freddie past away. It's absolutely beautiful.
Freddie wrote this in honor of Aereths Franklin and it's his favorite song.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I was lucky enough to see them live at their last ever UK live performance in Knebworth in 1986. Best show of my life. Love everything about this band. Special people
🤟😁
No auto-tunes or backing gizmos to help with the performance. Pure talent throughout the band. Such a shame Freddie started to deteriorate a few years later with the onset of Aids.
Freddie Didnt have only beer there
He had Honey and tea for his voice, to warm up
He had said that He rarely drink on stage, because He thought it was rude for the audience to hear him burping lol
This concert was held on November 24 th 1981,exactly 10 years before He passed away
Thank you
One of the greatest performances ever
Loved watching you watch this! Queen is amazing! Stone Cold Crazy, live at the Rainbow! One Vision, Wembley 1986! Who Wants To Live Forever, Budapest 1986! Love of My Life, Rock in Rio! You are right about Queen's fan base,,,we are legion!
This legend will go beyond Time 👏👏👏😘😎
Queen is Legendary and always will be..Amazing chemistry, totally focused, very harmonized, and a lot of energy. Freddie, Brian, Roger and John, best musicians by far. Don't forget Roger's backing vocals while playing the drums. Concerts are not like that today. No lip syncing whatsoever. Pure talent. ❤️🔥
Saw this two nights in a row, first night in Toronto, next night Montreal, each show was 2 1/2-3 hours long, they were beasts! Saw them twice earlier, their “News of the world” tour that opened with a robot the roof size of Maple Leaf Gardens into We Will Rock you. Saw them in Birmingham England too. I was a concert rat in my salad days but NOTHING is comparable to a Queen concert! Thanks for taking me down memory lane and giving this performance the respect it deserves!
BACK TO QUEEN!!! Yay!! To solve your dilemma do Milton Keynes live next!! There’s no question about your next move!! My favorite live version!! Please do GET DOWN MAKE LOVE & DRAGON ATTACK from this same concert!! Are you guys planning to go down the Queen rabbit hole???? If you are? I’M ALL IN 😁
My words EXACTLY!
I love get Down make love
They...are...the Best...even in November..2023....good singing..instruments...etc....
Just makes me happy
None of the members had vocal training...no auto tune...just raw talent.
Please react to Save Me Montreal 1981 Thank You
Save Me is a stunner of a ballad...a gem of a jewel.
Yes!! 😍 And "Now I'm Here" LIVE @ Wembley.
Freddie was 35 years old doing this concert. He sounded great for 35. Im not saying 35 is old but by that time your voice starts to sound a lot different then it was when your in your 20s. He also smoke cigs and drank which doesnt help but this man was incredible.
Freddie wasn't trained vocally, however he did learn piano at school an that's about it, the rest is all hard work an training himself. The other guys Brian Roger and John were not trained only by themselves. All super talented guys, freddie just amazing all round. Beautiful man very sadly missed 😢
I was fortunate enough to see them on this tour in New Haven with Billy Squire opening for them. FANTASTIC!
It's such a great song! Like your reaction. Queen always the best ever!
I love Queen and I miss Freddie so very much. I don't think it is a stretch to say they are the most iconic band of all time. I also miss George Michael who did an amazing version of this song at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert. No one can be Freddie and George wasn't trying to be. He could only be himself paying tribute to a friend and an icon of his childhood. No one expected much from George but he brought the house down with his performance of this song. Queen's guitarist Brian May said that George's performance was the best of the night and that he could hear Freddie's voice when George sang certain notes. Now this is high praise indeed given the artist that were there. Please check it out.
Just phenomenal!!!! Wish I had seen them in concert.....love your reactions and I didn't see this but other band when there was no auto tune or backing tracks just musicians singing and playing!!!❤
I saw Queen on this tour in NYC, I was 14.
At 9:08, “some day Im gonna be free, lord”, is PERFECT harmony.
Saw them in concert August 9, 1980 at Reunion Arena in Dallas, it was a great time, and they will always be at the top, I went to a lot of concerts it was my hobby then. I was amazed at them all, they were great.
For Roger's high notes, listen to "In the lap of the gods" (NOT the revisited version) at the Rainbow- angelic! And Freddie could hit the high notes too, add incredible delicacy to his voice, write songs, compose and arrange music, and sing songs in pretty much any genre from rockabilly to jazz to ragtime, blues, rock, and opera. All the members of Queen were/are supremely talented.
That fast playing of the ivory at the end was Freddie's clue to the band that the jam session at the end is coming to a close. This entire concert is just incredible. You can find it on here. Not that they weren't always good because they were....but this night they were at the top of their game and so in tuned to one another. Kuddos to all of them..but Roger's backup vocals were just incredible. To sing like that with so much power while playing drums...perfection!!
They were always in tune and on point - but they could make faults - but they had no autotune or other devices - back tracks or clicks - - they were musicians.
Roger had a small amount of vocal training when he was a schoolboy in the Truro Cathedral School choir, not very much tho. I love his voice and his solo work is fantastic too.
Alright. I have a special request for you people that do reactions. Make us old timers, that grew up on this music, a video describing how you feel about our old music. We really like watching your reactions to things like the lyrics, solos, etc... It makes us smile when you are pleasantly surprised with an old classic. I graduated high school in 76 and all of this was on the radio every day. It's great to see young people discover what we had back in the day. Thanks in advance. Everyone give a thumbs up on this comment if you think this is a good idea.
If you want goose bumps take a look at Queen, live, 'White Queen' at the Odeon, Hammersmith 1975. Its a haunting, brilliant performance.
Loved your reactions and appreciation of Queen’s music and Freddie’s awesome vocals‼️ Greatest Rock frontman 🎤 of all time‼️
In the movie the band told Freddie that he was a legend and his response was "your bloody right I am, we are all legends." That is what they all are. A legend, something that will live on after we are all gone, something that cannot be lived down but at the same time something we can all strive to be by the example they set for us.
I will never trash music in terms of generations. But today it is hit and miss. Yesteryear it was balls to the wall. Even those bands who never hit the big time but made a living touring still had a good life. Back then we chose our direction and didn't give carte blanche to the record companies. Wake up younguns. Make it happen and make it count as artists!
Everyone of them has written a #1 Queen song..
I've been a Queen fan since the early 80's. This entire show is awesome.
LOVE your reaction! I'm "older" and have been a Queen fan since the beginning. I played my "A Night At the Opera" album over and over and over. I love seeing the next generation reacting to them, so thank you!
This is why i say Freddie was a gift from God
Back in the 70’s and 80’s, you couldn’t make people sound better in the studio, like today. All the bands were the real thing.
Oh yes we could. You'd be surprised what we could do back then. Tweak the highs, add a little reverb. Or a lot. No we didn't have Autotune, but there was a LOT we could, and did, do.
Queen had a brilliant habit of getting a bit loose and REALLY have fun, play around, every concert. Even threw in covers of other songs, all were drinking during concerts.
Love Queen and they have so much to offer. Will follow your reactions
I was lucky enough to see them live in 1977 I was 15 yrs old Thin Lizzy was the opening act The Ticket price was $7.OO . Both bands were great live . That was 44 years ago Im 6O now..
you are so lucky man. For this you have to go to church every Sunday and thank God.
The Queen/Lizzy tour! Freddie and Phil were buds, completely opposite but that's Freddie. The GOAT!
$7 😭😭😭😭
Amazing reaction u guys should react to Queen at live aid it’s a great concert and one of the best performances of all time.👍🏻
Live Aid July 13, 1985 the day that the rest of rock and roll opened for Queen.
Elton John who followed them is reported to have called Freddie a bastard asking how to follow up Queen on-stage.
THEEEEEEEEEE BEST EVER.
You may have already heard: When Freddie opened playing chords on the piano, he was doing a sound check, as did each musician before the set. On top of that degree of professionalism and wanting everything perfect, they had their own sound engineers who traveled with them...even to venues where other groups were playing and there were already contracted sound techs. The difference? They switched the volume limits off so that Queen played louder than any other group.
The results: Wow. Breathtaking. They were each so good that louder was better!
Any other band Roger or Brian could have been lead singer except they had Freddie - no Freddie wasn't trained, just a natural.
Freddie was a rock god and Queen.in general best rock.band ever there talents where of the chart
Freddie was not vocally trained. he trained his own voice because he wanted to sound natural
Each member of Queen were incred but together they were perfection.
Freddie & the band always gave extra live...they said if people wanted to hear the songs done like on the albums, they could just stay home. 😂
“Now I’m Here” live from Wembley 1986 to see the whole band jamming, Freddie running all over & singing at the same time & Roger said it was the hardest song for him to play. Just about anything from Wembley is fantastic. 🔥🎶❤️
Freddie was in choir at school, but no more “training” until Monserrat Cabelle helped him with opera tips.
I did NOT know that, about Roger saying "Now I'm Here" being the hardest to play! (I wonder why?)
@@marciebulsaraorcutt Hey, girl 🤗 Watch the Roger cam for this song & you’ll see!
You are correct in everything.Mike Moran helped Freddie with phrasing especially with Barcelona.
@@lynnhoffman247 the Right cam is awesome
Who wants to live forever Wembley 86, white queen Hammersmith odeon and under pressure Wembley all give me similar feels.
Was so funny you three looked like Bobbleheads while listening to them.
They were feeling the music!! 😊👍
lol
Bass player is fantastic with the on point changes.
John Deacon is criminally underrated. No one appreciates Bass players
Queen is the best ever !!!
I loved Queen - when Freddy died so sad but their music was just awesome. Brian on top 20 best guitars in the world. They were really fun!
Yes there is no body like Freddie he is the best, a legend also Roger and Brian , love them all.
Great reaction 👏🏻👏🏻 Drummer Roger Taylor singing in thatt day "I'm in love with my car" 👏🏻
