I wish I would have never sold my 89 but your right it would go faster if .....I used to love banging red line with mine hell I was shifting with him and then what the .......is he doing lol the video was to short do it again and bang red every shift so I can ride along lol
Just a quick note, but both the ZX10 figures are crank readings, it wasn't until '91 with the ZZR1100 ( ZX11) that a genuine 125RWHP hit the market...not sure of size but if you did a bit of research and put a larger rear sprocket on and a smaller gearbox sprocket, you'd still have to ring its neck but you'll more than merely keep up with anyone, regardless of the extra 100lbs weight...but the ZX6 would walk away from you anywhere after about 135mph...I did the opposite, with a much smaller rear sprocket on my ZZR1200 and got another 7mpg out of it and big top speed but even little, and defo gutless, ZX650s could out accelerate me off the line for the first 10-15yds lol ...it really does make that much difference.. Edit; Makes me cringe watching anyone having no gloves / jacket etc on though, hard to see but I see no obvious big scars or anything so maybe you've not had a spill yet ;-) my hands and one arm definitely still show signs of when I fell off a crosser with no jacket and just crappy indoor gloves at no more than 30mph, ripped my arm and hands to shreds, and that was on just dirt and grass lol...good luck regardless :-)
Thanks for the info. Yea, playing with gear ratios can be fun and all depends on what you like, acceleration or top speed. I'm partial to both. :) My parents would agree with you on the safety equip. In fact, they would rather I didn't have any motorcycles at all. I have not crashed in over 30 years so that kinda tells you about this "old dog". That being said, I know, "you can't be careful for others", "you can't account for sand/oil/water on the road"(well actually you can), "You can't predict equipment failure" (again, actually you can). Yes, all you drivers/riders, don't be like Steve, wear equip and drive slow. Good day
Yeah lol, you've a much better chance of getting away with equipment failure if the bike's maintained properly, but 'nasty stuff on the road' is a bit more hit and miss imo. All I do is research accident black spots if on roads you don't know and on a long trip,..my satnav is amazing for that also, it saved me a few times on my last trip through France. I hate to admit it, but I've been riding longer than you, just a teeny bit ...but I refuse to think of myself as an 'old dog', it might well be the case but nooooooo way lol. Cheers and stay safe :-)
30 years ago is the last time I crashed, not when I started driving motorcycles. On unfamiliar roads I treat every corner like it has debris. Yep, stay safe.
@@stevec588 i think theres a lot of ppl jelous of you around here , dont worry probably its 1 of those stupid ridiculous guys riding with gloves but wearing shorts ha ha
I might have to disagree with you there. While I appreciate the fact that advancements have been made. The modern Ninja ZX6R 636 does come close but still a bit behind the 1988 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10. Top speed: ZX6R 152.8 ZX10 166.7 Power: ZX6R 112 bhp at 13,300 rpm, and 46.4 lb.-ft. of torque at 11,300 rpm ZX-10 137 hp at 10,000 rpm, and 75.9 lb.-ft. of torque at 9,000 rpm 1/4 mile, ZX6R 10.69 secs ZX10 10.3 secs Dry Weight: ZX6R 395lbs ZX10 490lbs www.motorcyclistonline.com/reviews/2013-kawasaki-ninja-zx-6r-review-shrugging-convention www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/kawasaki/kawasaki_zx10%2088.htm At almost 100 lbs difference it appears the weight is a big difference. I would agree that the newer ZX10R would be much faster and imagine both modern bikes handle much better. Still, the old ZX-10 is fun to ride. Enjoy the discussion.
Dampener goin: BRRRRR
It's the only reason they didn't wheelie...
Itd go even faster if you didnt slip the clutch lol
Looks better than anything on your channel. Lol!
plz don't act like you wouldn't do that riding a bike like this

Slower than the modern Ninja ZX6R 636, and wayyy much slower than the mighty 2016+ Ninja ZX10R.

in your dreams the zx 10 tomcat stomps the ground with any new 600 and can keep up with a modern 1000 cc with a few mods
Specs say otherwise but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Wow, and this after 30 years of engine development and advancement, plus lighter materials and metals.
Sho would have thunk?
Nice gear 😅😅
