Any help with the white bean with browny-gold patterning? They are starting to darken a bit as they dry, but the pod didn't look very borlotti like... no purple mottling on the pod, just bright green 🤷♀
Marvellous update, great to see your enthusiasm again. I collected leaves from around the house the autumn two years ago, and realised I started a slug farm on my balcony. This year I brought home shredded leaves from work - from park lawns - so not many slug eggs, hopefully. Parking lot should be good.
😂😂 only a gardener would go to the park just for leaves 🍂. You and Mal make me tired just watching you move plots, but great job Dorie keeping the work force motivated ❤. Fab harvests Kerry and in case you weren’t sure you’re doing an awesome job. Have a fab week, Ali ☔️🥶🥶🇨🇦
The mystery beans must be Borlotti or possibly Pinto varieties, they both are climbing types. There's so many new cultivars around these days its hard to tell what's what. You'll just have to ask whoever gave you the seeds if they know. Of course you might have a new cultivar arising from cross pollination, . Store the seeds carefully for growing on next year . Consider installing strip lighting around the beds or invest in a head torch for night-time gardening. 😊
Hi George. I think you're right - I'm settling on Borlotti - mostly because I did in fact sow borlotti beans 😂 I think they look a little odd because they were saved seed from a seed swap library so have done some mixing down the line. Ah, I do have a head torch somewhere - must dig it out and leave it in the shed!
What a lovely update. So much progress. Loving the team work with you and Mark (and Dorie too). Really looking forward to seeing you all get stuck in on the new plots and seeing how they evolve over the coming months in to next season. Fantastic to see things in the polytunnel too. You are really going to love having that space. I smiled to myself thinking of all the infrastructure you’d dreamed of adding to your old plot and look how much you’ve got already at this new plot.. plus a new greenhouse to add in too. Really a wonderful upgrade for growing and for your channel too. The wheelbarrow wheel.. I laughed out loud 😂🙈
I know!! Kind of feels like cheating... 🤣 BUT you gotta do what's sustainable and achievable in your specific context, right? God I hope this plot really does help my growing after all this blaming the old plot 🤣🤣🤣 be hilarious is it just turns out to be me! 🙈🙈
@ lol! I really think the new plot is going to massively up your growing game, so to speak. I can’t wait to hear you whooping with delight harvest tonnes of carrots french beans next year (and maybe some luffas too!) I hope the new person to your old plot doesn’t follow you RUclips. They’ll give up before they begin 😂😂😅
@@TheFarmyardGarden funny you should say that - someone who does watch has actually requested it - but when I went up to look at his current plot after the bad weather I could see why - the flooding is worse up at that part!
You certainly have got loads done in the last two weeks, I always think when you get up early to go to your plot to get jobs done then you know you've got your gardening mojo back 😊 I would do the same thing with the wheelbarrow too 😂 All I can say about your hard work Kerry is lovely job 😊
Great to see you settling into the new plot 💚 Those cape gooseberries look absolutely delicious 😋 I've seen a lot of people growing them in the greenhouses/polytunnels, it might be an option on the new plot now...... The golden leaves are looking fantastic to collect for compost, nice job 🥰
Yes it's odd. I tried them for two years in the greenhouse with no success and then this year they worked outdoors (if a little late to crop) 🤷♀️ - I guess I prob sowed them earlier this year. Anyway - yes - in the poly next year!!
All those leaves will make a good mulching material. They'll keep the moisture content more evenly spread. It's definitely that time of year to set up a good compost pile and get it covered.
You're making such progress - made me chuckle how there's some chosen brassicas making the cut for the big move! Very envious of the poly you now have, the perfect winter growing spot 🙂 Hahah I did exactly the same with my poly cover (the inside out issue). Fantastic harvest for the end of November 🥰 Ps side note... that red wooly jumper really suits you - definitely your colour!
Thank you Dora. The inside out poly was so funny. It's lovely still harvesting in late Nov - just had kale and leek in my pasta this evening ☺️ Aw thank you - red jumper calls for red lippy! 🤣❤️
I collect leaves from the church. They bag them up after clearing the car park and paths , leaving everything on the grass to feed the turf last week I had 7 industrial bags full which are now behind my poly braking down
Ah brilliant!! My arrangement with the church saves them a trip to the tip each week in the warmer months and I get the benefit of all the grass and leaves for my plot. Win win!
Great work both of you - hard graft but you're almost finished at the old plot. I think you should invest in a good head torch for your twilight working 🙂
Great update Kerry. How thrilling it must have been to plant up in your new poly tunnel. Think you deserve a well earned rest after those two weeks graft. Looking forward to seeing your plans for next year, once you’ve had time to catch your breath!
