    Kudos to Jason & Eric... so glad to see that you guys were able to get together and create this video. I really enjoy watching both of your RUclips channels (so informative) and the outstanding Line 6 Helix community in general, it's a great bunch of kind and helpful people with a common goal, getting great guitar tones and creating music! I was fortunate to be one of the first to get a Helix floor unit back in Dec. of 2015 and was totally blown away by its authentic reproduction of tube amps, it was a dream come true for me personally. I've owned and loved playing many tube amps over the past 35 years, Marshalls, Boogies, Fenders, etc. but lugging a ton of gear around is a young man's game. I purchased the Powercab standard 5 days ago and couldn't be happier with the tone and feel of this product, all the hype is true, it sounds killer from bedroom practice to stage volumes and absolutely gives you that "amp in the room" thing that us old tube guys know and love.... All I can say is if you're looking for an FRFR solution try the Powercab, it's the best I've found for my Helix in the past 2 1/2 years bar none!

      Hey Michael! This is a great story thanks for sharing! I appreciate the kind words and I am sure Jason will as well. It was a pleasure getting to do this video with him, as I respect him greatly as a musician and valued contributor to the Line 6 community. We had an awesome day together capped off with a Great White concert and hanging with Mark Kendall backstage. Many thanks once again and enjoy that new Powercab!

    AWESOME VIDEO. I am REALLY HOPING that Jason starts putting out some killer patches built for the PowerCab Plus. This man and his Preset/patch building talent us unreal.

    • @musicgearnetwork
      @musicgearnetwork  6 лет назад +2

      Thank you! Indeed his presets are out of this world. However one thing I will say, any of his existing presets that he has written will translate perfectly as is right now (like we were mentioning in the video). Even presets written using headphones sound good on Powercab. Everything translates seamlessly.

    • @MikeyGee001
      @MikeyGee001 6 лет назад +1

      I agree 100%. Jason had helped me with a Preset I created and use as my GO TO preset. Had a small issue with the clean portion and Jason helped me sort it out. That all said, I bought the PC Plus about a week ago and have ONLY run it in FrFr Mode (with the FR Flat voice) and LOVE how well ALL my patches translate. I have yet to play with turning off my Helix Cabs and using the PC Speaker sims but hope to soon. This video makes me even more happy knowing you are both Canadian (well I know Jason is for sure). So yeah, awesome video gents, much appreciated from a fellow Canadian (Ottawa, Canada)

      Hey wicked! And yep I am as Canadian as they come lol...! Myself, I only use FRFR with Variax acoustic and Cream with everything else and speaker/IR blocks turned off. But that's the beauty of this thing, various combinations for various users, all with the end result of happy tone!

    I wonder if a 1x12 solid state can keep up with a full band volume wise. I wonder if you could use 2 of these with the helix if needed. I just got my helix today and with in 10 mins I was blown away by the tone. I started with their Friedman amp model and I currently own a real BE100 and use it with a 4x12 with greenbacks and I got to say that the helix is pretty dam close and with some tweaking I bet I could get the helix close enough to not drag a 65lbs head and 85lb 4x12 cab into a club. Thus far I’m sold on the helix.

    ** Correction: In the video I stated Powercab's Volume control affected what gets sent to FOH (front of house). I was incorrect with that statement.
    From Line 6 Product Owner Brandon Frenzel "The Volume knob on Powercab has no effect on the output level to its XLR output." However, my statement "Whatever mode you are on with Powercab (example Cream) DOES get sent to FOH. I hope this helps clarify" **

    Great video. I have been contemplating getting a Powercab just for home use. It seems you love the Cream model and the FRFR which is available in the basic version. Is there anything on the Plus model that makes it the one to get if you are not loading it with IRs and you are not taking it on stage?

    I have a Pod go and just purchased the regular Powercab 112. I play at home so mostly lower bedroom volumes. Any suggestions on setting the channel or master volume in the presets themselves. I don't believe I'm getting the best sounds as some presets seem louder than others. Any help is appreciated. I bought the pod go starter kit and want to get the best VH tone at lower volume.

      I commented on the other 2 videos you posted the same question on, but here is that answer. I tend to read all comments so you can save some time by just posting a comment once. Happy to help though:
      Thank you so much for your purchase of our presets! And congrats on the PodGo and Powercab presets as well! Our presets are all volume matched very close, however you will see some jumps a tiny bit in clean presets vs dirty (somewhat). For quiet home playing I would recommend settings the Power cabs volume anywhere from about 8 to 10 o'clock, and put your PodGo on full. Use your Podgo's volume pedal from there to suit to taste, however I always have my PodGo volume pedal full as well too. Keep me posted and thank you again!

    I was watching one of your earlier videos on the Powercab and was wondering about routing in stereo mode with two cabinets, Eric. Since I'm not familiar with the routing configuration, if a person were to purchase a Powercab Plus, is there any advantage in purchasing a second Powercab Plus or would a Powercab as a second cabinet perform the same function, in terms impulse responses?
    In other words would the impulse response loaded in Powercab Plus, transfer over to the second Powercab?

    • @musicgearnetwork
      @musicgearnetwork  6 лет назад

      If it were me, I would go with 2 Powercab Plus models. Keep everything consistent. I will actually have a second one here soon. Right now, I have my Helix running to my PC+ using L6 link method (not using a proper L6 link cable mind you, and I do not recommend doing as I do lol..) but technically, you can run L6 out of helix to PC, then PC L6 Link out to the next Powercab L6 in and it knows that it's a stereo signal (if your Helix preset is a stereo path). As far as Cab 1 sending IR data along to the next, I do not think it can. But I will certainly inquire! You could also run your Helix out to 2 cabs with XLR, or 1/4 left and rights too. Many options.

    Question for you guys. I have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and just bought a Pod Go. Thinking of just getting a Powercab instead of using my Fender because I can just use all downloaded presets as is without messing with turning amps and cabs on and off. Does this make sense to you? I guess I feel like the presets through my amp do not produce the intended sounds of the preset because of having to shut down preset amp and/or cab. I assume the Powercab will solve this and make it simple. Also, can I play an acoustic through the Powercab? Thanks for your help.

  • @Shadowcruise99
    @Shadowcruise99 6 лет назад +1

    Is the L6 link currently viable between the Helix and the Powercab Plus? It was my impression in your video with Brandon Frenzel, that there was a pending firmware update for the Helix that would be required, before a digital signal path would be viable between the two units.

    • @musicgearnetwork
      @musicgearnetwork  6 лет назад +1

      I'm not sure what the firmware will do, however I am running L6 link out right now (just a standard XLR however) and it works fine. And by standard XLR, I do mean hooked up to Helix L6 out and Powercab L6 in. So it does work. But what the firmware will do, I do not know. I am getting some actual L6 cables though. I think the only difference between it and a standard XLR is the resistance.

    • @Shadowcruise99
      @Shadowcruise99 6 лет назад

      Maybe I misunderstood Eric. If you're able to get sound using the L6 Link, then it obviously working. Thanks again for all the information.

    Great video! I do have a question though: I have a powercab (not the plus model), but if use the creamback emulation with Jason's patches it sounds very thin? This was just with turning off the cab in the patch. Do I need to turn off all the extras (ie: eq, splits...etc) and just run the amp with effects?

    • @musicgearnetwork
      @musicgearnetwork  6 лет назад

      Thank you! Hmm, what patch of Jason's were you running? And I would not think you have to turn off any splits or things of that nature. Does it sound thin on any other presets?

    • @kylesimmonds9925
      @kylesimmonds9925 6 лет назад +1

      It was his Friedman BE patch he put on custom tone a while back. Running through the flat setting, it sounds well balanced. If I switch to the creamback emulation and shutting of the cab in the patch, the low end is almost totally gone and the highs are harsh to my ears. Haven't done much testing with other patches as I was very happy with the flat setting, but after watching this vid it made me curious as to why my experience with the creamback was so different. I'm sure it's something I'm doing (or not doing). Thanks!

    Stupid me have played Helix via KRK Rokit speaker and I just hate how bad it sounds. I will buy this and hope I finally get that Amp in the room feeling. My under 200$ Marshall amp beats helix now 100-0. Thats because I cant get nothing good out of Helix, or my lame mointor cant produce the sound Helix sends to it. I really hope Powercap Plus can do it.

    I recently purchased the Line6 Powercab 112. After turning it on I've noticed allot white noise/hiss coming out the speaker. Is this normal? I don’t have experience with “normal” amps or cabs. I play my Helix LT trough the studio monitors…

    • @musicgearnetwork
      @musicgearnetwork  6 лет назад

      Hey there. I did (one time) hear something similar like that come from one of my Powercabs. (I have 2). It was like a loud woosh/static type of sound but is never came back since. How do you have it hooked up to your Hellix? Also, does it make this sound with nothing plugged into it and turned on? If it continues, I would log a support ticket at Line 6. They have outstanding customer service and will take care of you.

    • @ledalius
      @ledalius 6 лет назад

      Thanks for answering. The Powercab has this hiss/white noise constantly. Even when not connected to Helix, just turned on and standing alone. My power source should be Ok; I never had any issues with any devices. I returned Powercab and ordered another one from other shop. It makes exactly the same hiss/white noise as fist one. So I assume this is normal. Maybe I’m too sensitive :) I showed Powercab to one Friend, and he said that he thinks his white noise is normal...his Fender Blues Junior has the same of white noise. But if I compare the Powercab to my Studio Monitors Yamaha SH 7, Powercab has like 10 times more hiss noise... So I don’t now that to think :( That do you think? Otherwise I’m very content. The Powercab sounds amazing, way better, more natural than Studio Monitors. "The amp in the room" feel is cool :)

    Hey Eric, love the channel. Quick question about the Power cab plus. If you have the flat response mode, would it work well to double as an electric drum kit amp as well?

    • @musicgearnetwork
      @musicgearnetwork  3 года назад

      I really appreciate that! I am going to give an answer with caution. 1: It is not even recommended for Bass guitar but I know some people that use it with Bass. 2: I assume one could use it for a drum amp, but the speakers (like bass guitar) aren't designed for extreme low frequencies that a bass or drumkit produces. I think with low volume it may work and sound quite nice. Just use caution though, as I would hate to see you blow a speaker, tweeter etc.

    Eric, so is this a speaker emulator or is there amp models built in?

    • @musicgearnetwork
      @musicgearnetwork  6 лет назад +2

      Hi there. This is technically an "active speaker system" Active (being self powered, 250 watts), it is designed to amplify a modeller's tones (Line 6 Helix, Fractal, Kemper, BOSS etc) in a FRFR environment. However, that is just to satisfy all the FRFR guys. Where it really takes off is the speaker emulation. So, no there are no amp models in the cabinet. That all comes from your modeller of choice. However you do have several speakers to choose from. Think of like this. Take your fav cab you have. One day you feel like pulling out the Celestion and swapping it with something else. You can do that in Powercab Plus with the turn of a knob. Hope this helps!

    It just isn't loud enough for a gig.I couldn't cut thru the band. It's ridiculous..... Line6, volume should never be an issue. Put it next to a 50watt Marshall JMP and if it is as loud as that, you have a good product.

    this might be a better option just as a cab to run the helix through. not even use any of the presets that are in the power cab but just use it instead of getting a power amp and 2x12...hmmmm

    Thank's for sharing. I'm not that happy with this thing. It sounds very muffy and I'm a bit disapointed for the price.

      You are welcome. Hopefully you get better results out of it. I personally love mine, and run it in speaker emulation mode, on Cream setting. Only time I use FRFR is with my Variax as an acoustic. Keep me posted as to your results and maybe reach out for some help in the various Line 6 facebook groups/forums for opinions/suggestions as well. In the end, it may not be the right cab for you. I hope it is though!

      Thank's. I had much better results with OwnHammer IRs loaded in the Helix (not in the PC) and with the cab set to flat.

      psour33 Oh great!! That's awesome to hear. I have just started experimenting with loading IR's into the PC itself. I purchased some VERY cool EVH IR's from Celestion. I have loaded them into both of my PowerCab plus's, and creating presets on Helix that will call up the IR's on both, via Midi. Kinda cool. I think for me (being a newbie midi guy) I am just going to use the IR's in Helix instead. But happy to hear you are getting better results! Thanks for sharing.

    Oh what beautiful acoustics in this room. The ear shattering reverberations are a part of the pleasure of listening, and let’s not forget Jason’s douche-nasal snoot accent and demeanor. Stroking his non existent beard.

      I think in this demo we were going XLR out to the Powercab. Here at home now, running 2 in stereo I am using L6 link.

    Sounds thin, digital, and can’t keep up with a full band. I just took one back and it’s ok, but nothing compared to a tube amp.
    Just a friendly review

      I like tubes but they have huge drawbacks. They're relatively fragile. They have to be mic'd. They have to be warmed before playing and cooled before moving.
      Tube equipment is heavy.
      I have several tube amps, but it's so much easier to grab my fm9 and a cab like this one and spend more time playing and less time setting up.

      cast390 head rush is not even in the same city let alone ballpark when it comes to the speaker emulation this has.

      cast390 you won’t hear stellar audio through a RUclips video with a mic in the room. And yes indeed. I’ll keep em. 😀
