You seem to be the only person on RUclips who is both capable and willing to explain this. You did an excellent job, thank you for taking the time to do so.
I have watched more youtube videos than I can remember and you are the ONLY one who explains slowly, clear and concise; virtually everything you say makes perfect sense without all the super technical jargon. You should write a Trading for Dummies series. Thank you
Great explanation! Love your videos. This is a hard thing to describe using only numbers without first showing a candlestick chart, but that is another rabbit hole to try to go down.
Bro I appreciate this video the more detailed the better it was a great detailed video and I truly understand gap up & down and when it only happens but everyone else video didn't explain aswell as you did so I just subscribe to your channel please keep up the teaching because more should be winning against wall street vs going to a dead end job started late but learning daily 👍 thanks again
Gapping during market does occur when the order book has a price of $10 with 1000 shares and price of $11 with 500 shares and $12 with 1000 shares and a buyer comes in and buys 2500 shares at $12.00. This will show a gap up from $10 to $12
It seems like people are trading between the after hours and the pre market too. A gap down to me is when the after hour price closes at 9.50 but then the next day at pre market open the stock is immediately 7 dollars with no bar representing when it happened l. These gaps happen a lot with bitcoin miners as bitcoin could dump over the weekend and the market opens Monday with massive selling pressure.
when is a gap up, may come down in the first hour, to see if is gonna come down I check the volume and momentum of the last two hours, now the problem I actually have is the hours from 3am to 6am in TOS I can't see how to know the probability of the increase in price in the hours I can't trade 3am - 6am
do gap ups and gap downs only occur after market hours and thus create a price change when normal market hours open?? And because of a gap up or a gap down (due to different circumstances) can you expect the trend to continue going that way (price continuing to increase or decrease) when normal market hours start because everyone can then trade?

ClayTrader clay I will take the opportunity right to ask you if you can provide your RUclipsrs with a video explaining the different between 1:1 split and 2:1 split ? And if that is a bad or good news ? Please
sorry, what I said was that Schwab does allow pre/post market trades - in the video you mentioned Schwab as one of the brokers that do not allow that - I was just correcting that info - 👍🏻 - they changed that about 4 years ago I think

Just to let you know. Fidelity does give you access to pre and post market if you request it. I used them for years.

no, gaps do not happen unless a stock is halted.

Correct. A gap is from when the market closes to where it opens. Often times, what you are describing is the process of the gap forminig.
Charles Schwab does allow trading before and after regular market.
Yeah? Good to know!
Thank you! What does it mean to "fill a gap"? People buying within the gap prices/spread?

Gaps definitely can not happen during the day unless there is some kind of trade halt.
