    Watched the film, really enjoyed it - Dan also makes a high quality fan boy!
    For me the 1992 Milan san Remo was the win that I remember the best, before that wasn't really that bothered by bike racing other than the tour de france. But that was just because it was harder to see coverage of the other races!

    I was in my late 20's early 30's when Sean was racing. So encouraging to watch. From memory, he had no kneecaps. Both were gone. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    I met him a couple of times a real gentleman. But just tey to keep with him on a bike and your in for a real lesson in what fitness level he was at. Even after retirement he would blow lads off the road with hes cruise speed.😊

    The craziest thing about Sean Kelly...his extreme cleat position. His feet were like a ballerina's.

    • @johns3106
      @johns3106 Год назад +2

      Everything about Kelly’s position on the bike was awkward…at a time when most riders upper bodies were VERY stretched out and saddles were fairly high, Kelly’s top-tube/stem extension were very short and his saddle seemed low, making him look very “scrunched” all the time. It didn’t seem to affect his ability to go fast though!!

    Kelly doped as a rider
    So did his Irish rival s roache
    When David Walsh printed the truth about the Doping by these two riders, roache attacked Walsh on national Irish tv
    Hypocrisy
    Despite his doping, Kelly remains in the sport w o penalty, as if nothing is amiss/nothing happened. He is prime cycling commentator Eurosport
    By the way, merckx too doped: 3 times thrown out of races for doping, once when he was in pink
    The riders ask us to pretend w them that they did nothing and did not dope. That the truth is too hard to bear, beyond our capability.
    But they did dope. And we do know.
    Yet most of us go pretend too that we don’t know, rt along w Kelly and roche and merckx
