I think I might quit bunny trapping for the season now that all of my stuff is burried (again) and start prospecting to make myself a nice range where I could do stuff like this when summer will feel like it!
    _[Gotta ask the farmer first.]_
I like benchrest to test pellets and stuff but this is a whole other pair of gloves!

Man, I hope you get the chance to set up a range! I've had so much fun and learned a lot since I started field target.

55 yards, and the Arc is still the most peaceful moment in the day ! Just goes on forever... Noises off... 😌

The trajectory has a lot in common with shooting a mortar 😁
That delay between pulling the trigger and pellet hitting target has stopped my heart on more than one occasion. Especially with heavy targets that seemingly take forever to drop 😳

I’ve recently purchased two hw97s. One is in .177 and the other is .22 cal. I like the gun but I suck at shooting it very accurately. What pellets do you recommend using with the .177?

I've had good results with the H&N Field Target Trophy in all of the 97's I've shot. They can be extremely accurate however, they are still a springer and can be hold sensitive. Are you shooting off a bench or from a sitting/kneeling/offhand position?

@@Guru1ofatl mostly I have been shooting off the bench using a shooting stand( the Caldwell Stinger) or my shooting bags. I have started to try the seated position like I see in your videos but I’m just shooting cheap pellets that I can find locally at the big box stores. I’m pretty sure that’s probably a big part of my issue. I also started my journey into air guns by getting a Benjamin Marauder.22 cal and it is a tac driver out to 35 yards for me and it so easy to hunt birds successfully with. Maybe that has spoiled me or I can get away with bad technique? I bought the springers because I hate being tethered to a tank or pump and I don’t know but I guess it just seems more pure of an art form or something like that.

@@kellyngorder7727 If you can shoot a springer accurately you should see good results with a PCP, but rarely the opposite. No matter how good it is, a springer is still going to be more hold sensitive, but that can help you work on your consistency.
Beyond 30 yards, pellets will play a huge role in accuracy. They can also change the recoil characteristics so that is definitely something worth looking at.
With the 97 I've had the best luck with the bag placed just ahead of the trigger guard. The trigger hand should provide support but don't grip the rifle, allow it to recoil front to back freely. The sitting position is challenging and can take a while to figure out what works for both you and the rifle.
I'm with you, the freedom and simplicity of a springer does have a nostalgia and certain appeal. I can tell you from experience that shooting a springer accurately is rightfully viewed as an accomplishment due to the difficulty.
