When a massive amount of French farmers all came down with cancer, they lobbied to make all school food to be organic! Some of the most common emulsifiers in food products include soy lecithin, carrageenan, mono- and diglycerides, carboxymethylcellulose, and polysorbate. Emulsifiers in skin care products include sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), benzalkonium chloride, cetearyl alcohol, stearic acid, glyceryl stearate, and ceteareth-20. For now, guidelines do recommend that people with inflammatory bowel disease should consider minimising intake of the emulsifiers carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), polysorbate-80, and carrageenan and research is ongoing into the mechanisms of dietary emulsifiers in gut inflammation in humans so for these patients we may....Commonly used emulsifiers in modern food production include mustard, soy and egg lecithin, mono- and diglycerides, polysorbates, carrageenan, guar gum and canola oil.

The problem, as I see it, isn't that restrictions on what people can buy won't work, but warning labels like those on cigarettes work. Every processed food should have warning labels. Eating this can cause Obesity, diabetes, chronic inflammation and cancer. I know that will be a hard sell to politicians because the hugely profitable food companies buy these politicians all the time. But cigarette smoking is way down these days. So it would seem some of these warnings do work.

I have noticed that this approach spreads organically as people see people around them change, and seek out how and why that happened.
Work has social meetings from time to time with traditional meeting snacks (like donut holes). More and more people actively pass on sugared dough-balls. They have no protein, high refined carbs, and absurd amounts of sugar.
Effective diet practices tend to spread in the work environment.

I think that there are people in the food industry, who knew the truth even in the past. The Quaker Oats Company produced the 1971 movie *Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory* as they held the rights to the candy brand at the time, and even the lyrics of the first Oompa Loompa song after Augustus Gloop, the heaviest of the children, gets sucked into a pipe says “what do you get when you guzzle down sweets, eating as much as an elephant eats?” That was their way of covering their a55e5.

I gotta say when I was a younger person I had no concern about any of the ingredients in my food, I guess I kinda thought that if it was being sold then it was safe to eat, and the authorities that controlled that wouldn't allow anything harmful to be sold to consumers. But now that I'm older and want to live out the rest of my life as a functional person without disease like cancer, all timers, or diabetes Then I'm going to need to be more proactive about my food choices, I just can't believe that our system of food has gotten so dysfunctional. had I been more aware when I was younger I would have started to make a switch back in my youth, I mean nobody wants to intentionally cause harm to themselves, right?

I disagree with meat needing to be organic. It’s nice but not essential. Ruminant’s due to the multi chamber stomach can process toxins effectively also, I know cattle ranchers and they have mandatory waiting periods they must follow if they need to give antibiotics prior processing. They also must follow testing procedures to verify no residual medications can be detected prior processing.
It is to the cattle growers advantage to minimize antibiotic use for many reasons.

I don't have instagram. Not intending to get it. I respect Dr Lustig. In the video he refers to research. Would it be possible to get some links to published research? Thanks in advance to Josh Dittmer or anyone else who can reply with links to research references.

If there is one word that I have become absolutely intolerant of, it is the word ‘conspiracy’ in all of its various forms. The CIA sure got its money’s worth with that word and how it has totally shut down rational thinking. For someone to look at a label on processed food and only be able to recognize 3 or 4 words out of a list of 10-20 then call someone a conspiracy theorist for pointing out the dangers of ingesting it or saying that it isn’t proper food for your body, is just mind numbing. Just because a person can ingest something that is manipulated to please one’s taste buds and doesn’t kill them immediately upon ingestion does not negate it as poison nor does it qualify it as food. We are living amongst the most ignorant, brainwashed, uneducated society in the history of the world. A society that has more information at their finger tips than any other generation before them but are as dumb as a box of rocks. It is just so freaking unbelievable!!

Is it a conspiracy if big food has figured out how to manipulate products to make them addictive or is it just good capitalism? Look at most wealthy executives and investors, are they eating this stuff?

Dr. Robert Lustig used to be so hopeful about changing the future of food, he even accepted that he would be long gone before it happens because generation has to die before anything changes. This is sad, he doesn’t sound hopeful anymore, this poor, brilliant man sounds defeated.

The guy seems to be a kinaesthetic learner to me. This type can’t absorb information unless we are fidgeting and moving. Or actively learning hands on. I am the same. It’s just a particular learning style. We can do it sat still but then we zone out after a short period. It’s the same as the person who doodles in meetings but hears everything.

What if you can't afford organic meat? am I doomed? Dr Ken Berry said that it would be okay to eat cheap Walmart meat if there was no way to afford anything else as long as I am attempting a low carbohydrate diet. Is this a losing battle? I'm already pretty sick. I have real bad IBS even though I have been ketovore for 4 weeks. My stomach is killing me!!!

Not a doctor but 2 things come to mind: 1) Eat the cheap Walmart meat over the awful processed food. 2) Focus on Intermittent fasting… you WILL lower your volume of food and save money by not eating as much. When you do eat, eat the highest quality you CAN afford. Hope this helps.

I agree with the comment above, it’s so much better then the processed foods or even just carbohydrates in general.
Cows have four stomachs and are able to turn shifty grains into clean bioavailable nutrients for us, it’s quite amazing! Do a couple searches on ruminant animals and their meat, of course local and grass fed is best but that doesn’t mean you cannot still get amazing results with regular meat

My husband and I won't eat meat from Walmart, because it has a funky aftertaste, comes from a CAFO (modern concentration camps for animals) and I don't want to contribute to the obscene wealth of the Walton family.

@@KetoKassy well that’s you, I’d also never buy meat from Walmart. I prefer local meat but there are people who simply cannot afford it Kassy so those people should eat Walmart meat instead of all the junk, if that is all they can afford. Thankfully we’re able to afford our preferred quality.

Sugar is worse than heroin. Yeah I remember the withdrawals I had from sugar, I was in bed sweating and violently vomiting for days. I also remember how I would constantly be doing home invasions so I could afford table sugar. I remember being on the nod in the gutter when I finally got my hands on that sweet, white crystal.

If you get you sugar from fruits, they are self-limiting due to amount of water, fiber, polyphenols, but most of all, cost.
