- This was a monthlong collaboration with 9 amazing composers in the MusicalBasics community. Each composer for levels 2-10 brought their own style and flavor, showing their creativity, skill and technique in writing their own remix of Faded by Alan Walker.

Thanks to all the composers for putting in their best efforts. Here are some of my notes on each:
Level 2 (Noah): The chords you chose were beautiful. You said you were aiming for level 1, but somehow you managed to make an absolutely gorgeous rendition with just a few notes.
Level 3 (Bat): I love the left hand accompaniment here, it's perfect for this melody and honestly I couldn't have written this level better myself.
Level 4 (Jess): This was such an interesting clave rhythm, but it works very well in creating this groovy vibe, contrapuntal harmony that creates an entirely new atmosphere for this song.
Level 5 (Spikes): Absolutely love how you wrote the left hand here, it plays off the melody gorgeously and adds color to all the right places. Since you wrote a full cover, I'll aim to do the full version someday on my covers channel :)
Level 6 (Zulaski): I know you mentioned you didn't feel particularly inspired, but your part was very fun to play, and the LH quintuplets over RH triplets created a swingy, ambling feel which I enjoyed immensely
Level 7 (Michael Shen): Epic! I particularly enjoyed how the right hand echoed its own melody throughout, and of course the left hand had its own counter melodies, excellent arrangement.
Level 8 (Reymarvin): Now we're talking my style lol. This galloping, adventurous rendition was an absolute delight to play.
Level 9 (Rron): You nearly turned Faded into an etude, with a dance-like conversation between the two hands, like a flamenco or salsa dance. This was one of the most interesting takes on Faded I've ever seen, and this was the level I spent the most amount of time practicing.
Level 10 (Fawful): Where to begin... you changed nearly everything about the harmony, using jazzy sharp 11th and 6/9 chords, creating particularly crunchy chords and arpeggios that made me scratch my head "the heck is going on here?" After you explained your thinking to me, I started loving everything about this level, the 12/8 meter, the leaps in the left hand, the sevenths, 9ths, 11ths, counterpoints, and syncopation, all on top of an epic melodic variation. Excellent, artistic work.

I have never seen, or heard of this channel, at all, whatsoever. Want to know how I got here?
Well, first... I looked up a harp version of the song, "It Has to be This Way". Because I wanted to see if someone did a toned down version of that epic song.
Only one video did it, just one! By "THE SYNTH BARD". Nonetheless, I watched it, I liked it, so I decided to see if other songs had harp versions. So I looked up one of my favorite songs on the internet, "I Can't Fix You". Strange yes, but it was also epic.
No harps unfortunately, but there was a piano version of it by the "Littletranscriber".
Listened to it, it was great, then the video linked another song the channel did. A song by Nelly titled, "Just a Dream".
I went there (this is the last part I swear) and I guess RUclips's algorithm sensed a disturbance in the force or something, and deduced that I'd like this video. So here I am now.
I've got to say, I never expected to see a video about 3 heart warming, powerful songs written by inspiring young artists...
when I decided to search for a song about a middle aged Colorado senator from Texas.
I got a heart and a like from the channel!

Thanks for writing the 10 composers the music was amazing thanks for giving this chance musicalbasics faded is one of my favorite songs the last level was epic and thx for writing that musicalbasics. U guys are the best music channel ever . It is my favorite now. I think if u make faded five levels it will be better. But it is just my suggestion. I also thank Alan Walker he made this song.

Too much complexity for s melody like this sometimes. You can barely hear the melody at level 9 for example.
Level 5, level 2, and level 8 were the first, second, and third best imo respectively.
Faded is my favorite song of all time! I love all the versions!
I like the levels from level 5 and above 💖 most especially the level 5. It literally made my eyes sparkle

I have a question for Fawful... what possessed you to make something that complicated and hard?
The fact I knew Lionel would play it anyway :P In general, I was going for really colorful chord voicings, and I had to spread those voicings across three LH positions and one RH position to get the fullness I was going for. Everything after that was an extension of the chords, the rhythms, and trying to maintain and accentuate as much of the original melody as possible.
The version I play is a mix between level five and level two . The melody is pretty simple and no jumps, but the left hand plays a ‘down up middle up’ pattern until it reaches the chorus.
At the last three levels, the hands were dancing

I think that my favorite is 5. It is simpler than, say, 7-10, yet is somewhat complicated. It is also closest to the real song.

i love watching your videos so so SO much!! you have such talent, and im jealous of it. hopefully i'll get there one day. i actually have a request: could you do one of Alec Benjamin's songs??? preferably How it feels to be replaced. he's a youtube singer and not a lot of people know about him, so you might have to look him up. you dont have to do my request though. im sure other people's requests are much more fun to play than mine. :)
