I’m 57. I watched a RUclips video. Where the presenter suggested adding a drop of oil to make a cheap foundation perform like an expensive one. I tried this and have never gone back. Try it for yourself. I use a drop of apricots oil which I had at home. It doesn’t smell. But works perfectly.... you’re welcome....
That Maybelline Dream Urban Cover has SD Alcohol as the 4th or 5th ingredient, and it dries my skin a little, and doesn't stay pretty on my face after a couple of hours. I might have to try that oil trick bc that is a foundation which I schieved a perfect color match by mixing 2 colors and then a 3rd color when the seasons changed my skin tone. You can't buy all those colors & experiment so easily if foundation is priced 3 or 4 times as high. Good idea about the oil!

I'm 56, and have never felt comfortable wearing makeup. I've watched your videos dealing with mature skin, and have found my fav foundation in Maybelline Age Rewind. The Age Rewind matches my skin tone so well, it's super easy to blend, and lasts all day. My eye make up game is getting better every day, and I'm learning to experiment with color. All I have to do now, is work on accepting the fact that lipstick can be worn on my very very thin lips. Thanks to you both!
I have thin "English lips" too - they seem to get thinner with age... :( I'm back to wearing some lip gloss, but haven't found an actual color that seems to work for me. I've also never been a huge make-up fan, but have finally found a mascara that I LOVE, and am spending more time watching these types of videos to help me up my game a bit.

I love your reviews, as you pick out the best and worst of each product and you do not hold back if you see an issue with the products. I am an older woman and have pretty good skin for my age, so I love the video’s with your beautiful Mum. But I think you have mentioned in your videos minus your Mum that if it has a certain issue on your skin, it definitely would have the same or more severe issue on your Mum’s skin. I absolutely love, love, love the no7 hydraluminous foundation! It is such a beautiful, skin like finish on my oily, yet dehydrated skin, which is dry, tight, flaky and textured atm due to rosacea flare ups. It doesn't crack or cake through the day, and is not creasey or oily. It's my number 1 too! 💕

My number one is Ilia true serum foundation and my second is Ellis Faas. I am 56 and they look great. You can build them up without looking cakey. I avoid anything with alcohol.

I wear eye makeup but look dreadful when I apply face makeup ( I don't know how to apply). I'm so encouraged to try when I watch you put makeup on your Mom, I get tips on the application. Hi Mary, I'm 36 &like yourself I wear eye makeup but foundation is alot of makeup for me.I will tell you though to just bite the bullet go&buy a light to medium coverage lightweight foundation& for starters until you're more comfortable just moisturise your skin let it settle for a minute then just dot a little dot on the chin on the nose under each eye&above each eye brow then just using clean fingers start to gently massage the foundation starting at your nose(centre of your face) swirling outwards to your hair line ad more if you need to .if you can still see your skin through it that's great , it shouldn't be a mask. You'll find most of your face doesn't need it mostly the centre so your nose around your nose under eyes, eyelids, upper lip, chin&mid forehead. Then just (if you have an oily T zone or tend to get oily in spots during the day, you'll know where you get oily) buy a loose translucent drug store powder&just lightly tap into the powder then gently tap off the excess then either pat if using a cushion or swirl if using a brush the powder on the areas you know get oily. Try this at home when you're not going anywhere until you get a bit more familiar with how your skin wears foundation then you'll start to see what you need out of a foundation &can choose based on your skin rather than recommendations. Good luck&rmbr it's always better to wear a little less than a little more.

Rmbr to pick up some translucent loose powder (for keeping oil etc at bay after you apply your foundation, it also helps minimise pores &sort of "airbrushes "the skin).also if you are buying a bronzer I would suggest to avoid the ones with shimmer in them I'm 36 & they accentuate my fine lines so. ...(ask for a matte bronzer or if you don't want to ask just hold it up to the light &if there's any shimmer glittery appearance to it I'd suggest you avoid it bc the shimmer ones exaggerate pores &fine lines bc it reflects the light drawing attention to the area, so go for the matte one) when applying bronzer less is definitely more the easiest way to describe where to apply it is turn your face sideways to the mirror &imagine a big number 3 starting around the side of your forehead around your hair line going down your temple &then the middle of the 3 is your cheekbone then come back in to your hairline&down to your jaw&run the brush along the jaw as the bottom curve of the number 3 (repeat on the other side just imagine a backward 3,I hope this makes sense) .I'm so happy to be of any help &if you want to ask a question just post it here I'll get it, Good luck &loss of love ,have fun trying it all out 💚🍀💚🍀

No. 5 that lo'real foundation is fantastic! 54yo dry skin and it looks luminous on the skin, not glowy or greasy. I wish I used that instead of the Laura Mercier Lumiere for a wedding I attended recently. Pat on HG Dim Light finishing powder over top and staying power is fantastic. Skin looks like satin.

I think it's wonderful to see a nice relationship between a mother and daughter. Tomorrow it will be 7 years that my mother passed away. I lost her in my 30s and it's a hole in my heart that will never fill up again. Always treasure the beautiful woman who gave you life.

It took me a while to realize as I have gotten older, I can no longer wear the same type of foundation as my daughter uses any more and that it was time to try something different...

Yes, yes, yes dupes please!! In total agreement with your mum about being transfer proof and affordable. :) Finally got my hands on a bottle of the CYO foundation. Had to drive across town (about 12 miles) to get it! I hate ordering online when I have no idea what shade I need. The drugstore where I bought it had a cosmetics sale of buy any 2 products (any brand), and get the 3rd free. I needed more setting spray and found a gorgeous NYX eyeshadow palette so ended up getting the CYO for free!! Can't wait to try it out tomorrow. :-D I'm waiting with baited breath for the new Maybelline Dream Urban Cover when it finally gets to the US.
I love Dior Foundations; I agree that the Star does oxidize, but the new Backstage Face and Body does not and it lasts hours on me impeccable (mature combination skin).

I have dry mature skin - my new fav (an oldie but goodie) is Loreal Lumi Foundation - makes my skin look beautiful and with a slight glow - does not stick to my dry patches. I don't like matte foundations on my dry skin.
Welcome mum. I’ve been using Charlotte Tilbury ‘s Magic foundation and it looks really natural on my 70 yr old skin. It’s also cheaper than most of those on your list at £27
Ania Kwiatkowska no it's a different formula than what they reviewed here. They have lift and luminate. That is not the same one as this new hydraluminous they loved.

I'm telling you as I get closer and closer to 60 I am trying to improve and I know makeup does it but again, I don't know how. I am running to the store first thing to find a light/medium coverage and come home, it is my day off, and practice. I'm also going to grab maybe some blush and bronzer, maybe, and try it all! @@marypalmer2088 oh, I'm delighted .I wasnt sure if you were going to think me rude for my comment or take it as you did, you are so very very welcome. Rmbr to pick up some translucent loose powder (for keeping oil etc at bay after you apply your foundation, it also helps minimise pores &sort of "airbrushes "the skin).also if you are buying a bronzer I would suggest to avoid the ones with shimmer in them I'm 36 & they accentuate my fine lines so. ...(ask for a matte bronzer or if you don't want to ask just hold it up to the light &if there's any shimmer glittery appearance to it I'd suggest you avoid it bc the shimmer ones exaggerate pores &fine lines bc it reflects the light drawing attention to the area, so go for the matte one) when applying bronzer less is definitely more the easiest way to describe where to apply it is turn your face sideways to the mirror &imagine a big number 3 starting around the side of your forehead around your hair line going down your temple &then the middle of the 3 is your cheekbone then come back in to your hairline&down to your jaw&run the brush along the jaw as the bottom curve of the number 3 (repeat on the other side just imagine a backward 3,I hope this makes sense) .I'm so happy to be of any help &if you want to ask a question just post it here I'll get it, Good luck &loss of love ,have fun trying it all out 💚🍀💚🍀

I've been using a No 7 foundation for a couple of years now, and I like it so much more than the high end ones that I'll occasionally buy. Super excited for this new one to hit the states! Beautiful ladies!!!

No. 5 that lo'real foundation is fantastic! 54yo dry skin and it looks luminous on the skin, not glowy or greasy. I wish I used that instead of the Laura Mercier Lumiere for a wedding I attended recently. Pat on HG Dim Light finishing powder over top and staying power is fantastic. Skin looks like satin.

I know this video is nearly a year old. Still, so glad to see your Mother back looking so healthy and bright. I'd be so interested to know what she thinks of how your career came about, and if she is surprised that you are rather famous, & surprised at all that you are followed in the online social media world by thousands of people..🤹♀️ Also, I have a theory that many young women who are beauty and makeup gurus often have a mum who is also somewhat glamorous-- certainly true in your case😉🤗❣

I think it's wonderful to see a nice relationship between a mother and daughter. Tomorrow it will be 7 years that my mother passed away. I lost her in my 30s and it's a hole in my heart that will never fill up again. Always treasure the beautiful woman who gave you life.

I really like this video, it kind of really points out how skin of a different age needs a different type of foundation. It took me a while to realize as I have gotten older, I can no longer wear the same type of foundation as my daughter uses any more and that it was time to try something different...

Yes, yes, yes dupes please!! In total agreement with your mum about being transfer proof and affordable. :) Finally got my hands on a bottle of the CYO foundation. Had to drive across town (about 12 miles) to get it! I hate ordering online when I have no idea what shade I need. The drugstore where I bought it had a cosmetics sale of buy any 2 products (any brand), and get the 3rd free. I needed more setting spray and found a gorgeous NYX eyeshadow palette so ended up getting the CYO for free!! Can't wait to try it out tomorrow. :-D I'm waiting with baited breath for the new Maybelline Dream Urban Cover when it finally gets to the US.
I love Dior Foundations; I agree that the Star does oxidize, but the new Backstage Face and Body does not and it lasts hours on me impeccable (mature combination skin).

‘Mum’ you look SO natural, I wouldn’t be sure, if I saw you in some other setting, that you were wearing foundation. Slight blush and medium lip, lovely.
I have dry mature skin - my new fav (an oldie but goodie) is Loreal Lumi Foundation - makes my skin look beautiful and with a slight glow - does not stick to my dry patches. I don't like matte foundations on my dry skin.

Ania Kwiatkowska no it's a different formula than what they reviewed here. They have lift and luminate. That is not the same one as this new hydraluminous they loved.
