This was pivotal in the First and Second World Wars because the US was completely untouchable. Their factories could go on and produce war goods without any potential risk of getting bombed, which made their war machine and industry significantly more powerful. Also, the USSR had no allies in the American continent besides Cuba, which would’ve quickly been squashed by the United States Army, meaning the USSR could not host troops from any country in the Americas to reach the US, not to mention the United States was the only nuclear power at the time, and had a monopoly on atomic bombs.
