1:27 So here's what's happpening here: The one lioness laying with the male is in heat and he can feel/smell it. This male lion is in a very good shape, by the way. He is patiently waiting for her to be ready to mate. He wants to mate with her and only her. The other lioness was JUST passing by (poor one) and he attacked her because she was "disturbing" them. Male lions will attack anyone that's coming close to the lioness in heat that he wants to mate with. But at the same time, you can TELL that the lioness in heat didn't want him to attack her sister either. Cute

When daughter rolled over at 2:19, it was mama’s growl and snarl at daddy that kept her from getting jumped on a second time. It took him a long few seconds to get himself back under control.

Bro was in total control as is by not pouncing again, if he wasn't in control, he would've attacked anyway & attacked or snapped on his mate too.
That behavior of bellowing while standing is him establishing dominance audibly to both of them, just because he entertained her snarling doesn't mean it was over.
Which is why he pressed her when she rolled over, you're supposed to stay put in a situation like that. Be docile until he's done lecturing you.
More than likely the other wanted his affection too, hence why she literally just walks into him.
Lionesses aren't known for being subtle when flirting, at all.
In summary, the lioness tried to convey that if you wanna be her lover, you gotta get with her friends.
But the male answered I wanna... I wanna... I wanna ziga zag ahh!

Well the girl was snarling at him too. The truth is the females probably hate the males and wish they could get away from them. All they do is scab food from the females who work to hunt it and dominate them. I wish the Lionesses would gang together and drive these selfish lazy Lions out.

East African lions have a great physique.. You can see how much he's in shape when he stands up.. The lioness is early on her eastrus and the male is waiting for her to get ready and mating will commence ensuring all 3 or so cubs belong to him.. Even while males live in coalitions.. They are keen to ensure their bloodline by preventing other males from mating with her

10/8/20 ... I've always been fascinated with big cats. I love how patient he was with her. He wanted her and only her. Watching him, he seemed so tired. Maybe it was their nap time.

@@darshang1262 He protects them and they hunt and provide food for the protection. Also, since he’s bigger and stronger, he abuses them for no reason too. That’s why lionesses move on quickly when male lions get killed by another challenging male lion and his pride is taken over by that other lion. Being respected and loved is better than being feared. Hyenas have the similar culture. Except, it’s the females that are dominant and the males are submissive. It’s the opposite. The good thing about hyenas is that they don’t abuse their mates even if they’re stronger.
lioness arent really submissive they too want a mate and have kids to pass on their genes although the females of all species are choosier so the male has to wait for him to get accepted . male lion cant force female to mate bcoz females of this species are aggressive too . so he has to stay calm until she agrees.

could watch lions all day ,the males get so aggressive when it comes to mating ,but once the female agrees to mate the males are actually really patient and allow the females to decide when the time is right ,gents lol
"Let", not "allow". Lionesses are the ones who run a pride (from hunting to migrating location), not male lions, so the males don't give out order nor allow the females anything. Male lions only want the position of sperm supplier, not a king.

I love watching lion family drama.😂😂😂😂. Always something going on and someone’s always mad at someone else.🤣. This might look rough to us but that male could have hurt her if he was really angry. He didn’t. This was pretty much the equivalent of walking in on your sibling and her boyfriend or girlfriend and them yelling “GET OUT OF MY ROOM DO YOU KNOCK?!”

Look at how the lioness stayed in a submissive position once the male attacked her. He did not want any other lion close to the female he was sitting next to. He didn't want to let that female out of his sight. That's what male lions do when females are in heat but this lioness did not seem to be in estrus. She wasn't flirting with the male and there wasn't any mating.
at 0:53 the lion curls his lip up smelling the air which is common when lionesses are in estrus so it is a high possibility the lioness was in heat hence why he was following her, waiting for her to allow him to mate since for lions mating is decided by the lionesses.

I think the lioness was in the early stages of estrus thus not ready for mating and therefore not flirting or anything and the lion didn't like the other lioness near her because he was claiming her for himself to mate with - if that is what you were trying to ask
the other Lioness is smaller, possibly the daughter. Just wanted to check on mum and dad... and gets a beating. But I keep wondering how lions often seem so bad at reading each others moods and intentions. Among wolves this probably wouldn't habe happened.
