I've been so confused why my voice effect does not work with discord, and I found this, from Elgato! This is exactly what I want! Buying your microphone is really a choice I will never regret!
This just saved me from my crazy load keyboard and my friends complaining about it on games and software like Fortnite and Discord. Thanks for the help
I like the Elgato products. According to this great video I would like to ask how to set up vst filters on my M1 Mac. The described VST-Settings tab is missing in the Mac version of the software 1.6.1. On my Win-Working PC everything works fine.
@@ElgatoWorkshop That's great news. I'm so glad we're seeing improvements on this product. I really enjoy using the wavelink for my streams. having additional functionality is much appreciated.
I'm getting the opposite effect - when I use the MicrophoneFX input, my VSTs are NOT being applied. When I use the Stream input, my VSTs ARE being applied. Confused.
One option could be to use actually an NDI VST for the channels you want to send audio from. NDI is a type of network protocol which actually can let you send audio over your network to another PC. And it can be used in the form of an VST. Then on the streaming PC, you can add these as individual audio inputs for a scene and mix them. We mentioned this briefly in our initial Beta overview video. ndi.tv/tools/ We plan to cover Dual PC topics more in the future.
I just want to clarify - using the microphonefx input will allow you to hear your voice in your monitor to test if your plug-ins are working the way you want them to, right?
Hi there, You certainly could use MicrophoneFX that way by having WaveLink unmute the microphone channel for the Monitor Mix to temporarily listen to how you'd sound to others. Though due to all the processing there will be a noticeable amount of delay as the audio passes through each of the Audio Effects. Just something to be aware of when listening.
In a similar way to this video, can I add not only my voice but also the sound I hear on my computer to the function? I would like to play it to people who are talking on Discord or Skype, not the broadcast channel included in Stream mix.
I had the exact same question! When I am using the headphone jack to monitor the mic, I only get the raw wave 3 signal without post-processing :/ I haven't found a solution yet.
This is what I'm trying to figure out too. I just got a Stream Deck + and was using Steelseries GG - Sonar but wanted to switch to this so I can adjust the volume of the audio channels on the Stream Deck (Can't do this using Sonar). I can use the Wave Link app but there's no MicrophoneFX option showing up and so my mic is picking up everything from Wave Link (Found out by testing the input on Discord voice settings)
I am on a mac.. anyway to use any effects on the mic and still have it go into my stream mix? example if I am on a zoom I need my voice and all my other sound sources going into zoom.. so if I cant do this with Stream Mix as the imput, I guess I need something like loopback to put all the streams back together?
I'm not sure why I can't use VST effects with Krisp or RTX voice. Krisp determines if the sound sounds like a human voice. If not, I am muted. If it's my voice, the mic is unmuted, and the voice is further processed by the VSTs. I see no conflict. At the end of the video, it recommends not changing the gain directly since it affects some VSTs. Wat if the gain was increased BEFORE adding the VST effects?
Krisp often reduces the fidelity of the voice, even if almost all the audio passing to it is pure voice. It's not so much a conflict, as it will generally make you sound worse especially if you're already hand-tuning your Noise Reduction, Gating, and compression before reaching Discord. All that matters with Gain is that set it to where you're reaching a good level, then tune your VST Audio Effects, and then ideally don't touch the gain. Since your Audio Effects will now behave different. For example, if you have your Wave Microphone set to 45% gain. You speak normally and you're always speaking over -35dB. You then apply a Noise Gate with a -38dB threshold. If you reduce the gain on your microphone, the gate may begin cutting out your voice as it may fall below that threshold now.

Hello, thanks for the insightful video! Question, I use the Wave XLR mainly for Discord chat with my SM7B and my Mic Input in Windows and Discord is set to MicrophoneFX. I am using RealEQ VST to EQ my voice, Does my voice have the same EQ using Discord when set up this way (ie, any program where I specify MicrophoneFX, the listener should be hearing my EQ'd voice)? In Wave Link, I have the EQ settings set under the default ElGato Wave XLR channel (I don't use any other channels since I don't stream). When I record my own voice with Audacity, I hear the EQ using MicrophoneFX mic input . Thanks!
Is this included for the new Stream Deck +? I just got it and am not seeing a MicrophoneFX output, only "wavelink stream" and "wavelink monitor". Please help!
Hi KM83, MicrophoneFX right now is only possible with a Wave microphone or Wave XLR, but we've forwarded your message to our development team to check into.
@@ElgatoWorkshop What a joke. So I guess I can't adjust audio channels using my Stream Deck + because I don't have a Wave mic so will have to continue using Steelseries GG - Sonar? Hi Jeff, Zero Latency monitoring of your voice *with effects* isn't really possible. This is because the Zero Latency monitoring works by routing the microphone signal directly to the headphone port on your Wave mic or Wave XLR without it going to the PC. This path bypasses a lot of processing and is able to be zero latency. However, there is some latency when going from Microphone to PC, back to microphone/headphones. If you still want to hear your voice with effects, you will need to make sure you unmute the monitor mix for your microphone. This is the headphone icon below the microphone channel in Wave Link. If you do this though, you'll want to set PC/Mic Balance to 100% PC to avoid hearing yourself twice.

Hi there, If you are using a Wave:3 microphone to unlock Wave Link, MicrophoneFX will be using your Wave:3's audio. MicrophoneFX can be muted through Windows or whichever voice application you're using. The hardware mute on Wave:3 mutes that device specifically. But this would also stop audio from your Wave:3 from reaching MicrophoneFX.
