I just purchased this for Christmas for my husband and I from 🎅🏻 and he was not happy about it, however he knows absolutely nothing about kcup coffee 😂. Your video regarding how to move the water reservoir around was fantastic! TYSM!! When I show my husband how much I paid for it vs how much it costs plus the convenience of the kcups, he’s going to LOVE this machine! Just wanted to say THANKS SO MUCH for your video and I’ll finish the 2nd half tomorrow.
Excellent video; have been wanting to go back to the option for K-cup/single-brew as well as full pot in the morning. My kitchen counter space is limited and my cabinets are low, so I have a really really small space available for the brewer, and this checks all those boxes. There are a few other dual- (or triple-) brew options but they all have a big footprint.
Thanks again for posting it; I was kind of on the fence (mostly b'c of the cost) but I think this is the right option for us, both for space and versatility.
Thank you for your play by play. Much appreciated!! Cheers ☕️
Any time!
This is a great coffee maker. My parents got it at Costco about 2 years ago. The only issue I have sometimes is with brewing a 6 cup or a reusable k-cup. It seems to come out weak for me. Besides that it’s great and I love the stainless steel carafe. It keeps coffee hot up to an hour, maybe more.
Yeah I think some k cups are just made that way, it happens to me too sometimes.
Todo depende del tueste y la molienda del café y calidad del mismo, trata de comprar café fresco de tueste medio y molienda media o un poco más y veras que sale muy bueno .
Thank you so much! This was very detailed. I appreciate it!
You're very welcome!
@@JustADad make more of those!
I have had this coffee maker for about 2 years. Recently, it seems that I can't get it to brew a full 10 or 12 cups in the carafe. I have cleaned it, descaled it, changed filters and done trouble shooting with Keurig to no avail. it is leaving 14 oz of water in the reservoir when it completes brewing, and the carafe is nowhere near full. How much coffee should I be getting with a 12 cup brew?
Another reviewer mentioned this as well. Have you ever measured the actual ounces brewed? If it’s less than 48 ounces, I need to look at a different machine.
Great Video! It is called a carafe by the way :)
Oh thanks! yeah It took me about a year to realize that and figure out how to say it. Its funny how something so simple can be so hard. Thanks for you kind words!!! and your support!!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it! I hope it helped!!!
This or the Ninja Dual Pro?
Great detailed video! Just wondering if you can make your own ground filtered coffee with a cup or travel mug instead of using the jug? Thanks :)
Not really, the coffee maker side requires the coffee pot because the top of the stainless steel coffee pot lid pushes up on the bottom of the filter basket to let the coffee flow out of the coffee basket. Its called pause brewing, There is a plunger that closes off at the bottom of the coffee filter basket to stop the flow of coffee.
@@JustADad Thanks for the response. Keep up those excellent videos!
@@jasmineyung Thanks for your kind words and support!!!
Yes you can using the pod side with the Keurig My K-Cup Universal Reusable Coffee Filter but it is not included with the brewer.
Got our K-Supreme Plus from Costco a few months ago. Can I move the reservoir to the other side like this one?
No the k supreme plus is fixed on one side. the K supreme you can move but no the plus
Can you adjust the temperature on this model?
no
@@JustADad then I guess Keurig needs to work on a few things. That would be one item, my other complaint is the 2 hour warming plate. They need to make it at least 4 hours like most coffee makers.
How can I keep the carafe stay 2hours more hot???
I did a video on how hot the coffee stays. ruclips.net/video/63jERuTWUxM/видео.html
I found that the coffee stays hot longer than 2 hours. do you have this exact same coffee maker or the other K Duo with a glass carafe?
Carafe not Cafe 😳
I think the biggest issue here is you are drinking Folgers. Gag me with a spoon! 🤮
Its all I knew after watching my DAD drink Folders all his life. I have tried others and Dunkin Taste really good now.
@@JustADad we don't have Dunkin, but Tim Hortons coffee is everywhere here in Canada. The "go to" for most people. 😁👍
This is exactly the review I was looking for. Thank you.
After purchasing this and setting it up, I was unsure what would happen if I ran a K-cup through this machine if there were old coffee grounds in the filter basket I was unaware of.
By flipping the unit over (which I have not done) you show how the carafe and K-cup functions both have their own dedicated plumbing route.
Just bought this based on your video. First impressions after brewing a single 12 ounce cup are, messy and slow. Coffee splashes out of the cup on the counter, probably because it drips instead of flowing, and it takes longer to brew. I'll give it a few days. $ 212.00 total cost at Bed Bath and Beyond.
Are you noticing the splashing only for Strong brew or regular setting also?
@mtrotter325 we only use regular strength. It's just a long drop into a coffee cup so it splashes. Machine has been pretty good so far. I'm thinking about trying something to set the cup on while doing a single brew.
Best video in my book. I just bought one. Your video was much better than the instructions that came with it.
Awesome, glad it was helpful. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave feedback, Your kind words mean so much. Thanks!!!!!
I love your videos. At first I wasn’t going with a duo. I was going to buy the new smart Keurig. But after watching videos I decided this particular duo was a smart buy. And now after watching this video. I have the idea of having an extra carafe. That way I can take the carafe and have coffee on my porch. And if I have guest they can make their pot how they like and carry the pot to their room if they liked. Especially after hearing how well this carafe retains the heat. I just yesterday bought two of these duo Keurigs. One for me and one for my niece for Christmas. I can’t wait. I’m expecting my new home and don’t plan on opening my duo Keurig till I’m in my new home. I’m excited.
Awesome!!! that sounds really good. Thanks for sharing you coffee story/ Journey!!!! Keep me updated
I just bought this coffee maker and have a very unusual thing happening . During the day the power button works normally but after it sits over night, the power button does not power on the machine . I have to pull the plug and reset the time inorder to get it to work. I would love to have a reset code to set it back to factory specks. Anybody have a solution????
I have the same problem!
@@rocd9212 I eventually contacted the factory and they sent me a new unit and didn't require me sending back the original unit. I now have the original unit for spare parts if needed, carafe etc
@@joegiunta5635 No worries, I ended up buying a Black & Decker and it works fine. Thanks!
Thank you for your high quality and full assessment reviews. I found your reviews when I began looking for a coffee maker that made both a pot of coffee and a K-Cup. I tend to be a deliberate and selective shopper and prefer to become informed on "plusses and minuses" before making a purchase. Your reviews best helped me arrive at a purchase decision. Once I made my decision and when the coffee maker arrived, I found your review helpful to re-watch, as I set up and used the Keurig K-Duo for the first time. Thank you. I hope I'll find "Just A Dad" reviews when I'm making other product decisions. Don't change a thing!
Thanks so much for your support and nice words!! they are so nice and encouraging
@@JustADad
Thanks for your reply!
For your consideration: I suggest you do evaluations on "kitchen based" water purifiers. Water quality relates to coffee quality, and I found "qualitative" product reviews and features comparisons like yours, lacking on water filters.
I ended up purchasing a Waterdrop G3P600 RO System, basically from comparing features as described by various manufacturers in their ads. While I'm happy with it, I decided without understanding if a different product may have provided a better feature mix for my needs and "investment".
There are many aspects to a water filter product that would make your review style helpful to consumers, from GPM, to wasted water ratio, to RO or not, to placement options (under sink vs counter top) to filter replacement cost and ease of replacing. I think the public would respond favorably to "Just A Dad" reviews of water filter product options in this growing market. The link from water purifiers to your coffee maker reviews (and vice versa) would be a natural.
Best, Bruce
Great information. So much more instructive than info that came with it. Their ‘Instructions didn’t include info on filter or ability to use paper filters. Thanks.
When you checked the basket, it still had water (pot brewing) did it drain finally? What happens to stop it from completely emptying? That happened with my first pot and was a pain to clean/empty.
Thanks for watching and your kind words. Yes it will finally drain all the water out of the filter basket, it takes about 5 extra minutes.
@@JustADad now I just have to teach my husband how to use the new coffee maker. Teaching an old dog new trucks-it can be done.
Where is subscribe button?
Nice, comprehensive review. I'll bet you're an engineer ;) Just one comment, it appears your 12-cup strong brew only took 12 minutes, not 15 as you state at 31:30. You started with 12:04 on the clock and ended with 12:16 showing.
My Keurig still does not say add water and I did the entire process 2 times and the D scale light is still on. How do I get it to turn off?
Here's an update. The brewer turned out to be junk. While making single cups it would leak from the bottom of the basket drawer. Wouldn't make desired amount and the basket would fill with water after a few single brews. Called keurig and they sent me a new one. This new one is even worse. The basket fills with water like the first one, but this one actually powers off While brewing singles only dispensing an ounce or two of coffee. Just got off the phone with them again after 5 tries to get about 6 ounces. We've only used k-cups as i thought maybe the reusable was the problem. They're sending another one in a few days. I asked if the 3rd one was bad could I expect a monetary refund, the answer was no. I think we're done with keurig.
You have to clean it more often
@@pinkisforpimps I'd agree if they weren't brand new
Didn't have anything to do with cleaning more often. We only got 2 cups out of and it quit the first one. Returned it due replacement, almost 6 before it quit. Junk both units
I had this happen. It turned out that I didn't have the basket portion completely locked in. No problems since.
Great video! A little too long but very thorough.
I was on the fence with this brewer, but now I am sold. I like the front coffee loader. My current coffee maker sits under a cabinet and I have to pull it out to load the coffee and water on top. It’s a pain. The only thing I didn’t like is there is no heat warmer and is pricey. Excellent and thorough review.
Yeah I thought the same thing about the warmer pad but that Stainless steel carafe really keeps your coffee warm for over 2 hours. This is a great machine, just keep up on the descale and it should last a long time. Check out my video on Stainless steel carafe for the coffee maker.
ruclips.net/video/63jERuTWUxM/видео.html
I've had two of these and they both quit working first month
Great review, our household is split between brewing a pot of coffee and doing single K-Cup brew. This is definitely something to consider when purchasing our next coffee maker. Thanks for this!
Your Welcome, Have a great weekend!!
Your reviews are great! Thanks so much!
I ended up choosing the K Duo itself because it was cheaper but after watching this video I think this one would be worth the money. As much as I love the K Duo I would probably get this one too. This one is smaller and I have limited counter space.
Yeah I love that this one does not take up alot of room and I love the water tank handle.
@@JustADad I ended up getting one, well worth the money. I made coffee in the pot the last night and it was still 120 degrees this morning, around 12 hours after brewing it was still warm. Without the stainless steel it would start to get cold not long after the heating plate shuts off. Your video helped me make the decision to choose this one. I’ll still use the K Duo but not as much. This stainless steel carafe will be great for power outages.
@@veryfungamesawesome Wow 120 degree after 12 hours that is amazing. Thanks for sharing your story!! It helped me and I am sure it will help someone else with there decision and coffee journey!!! Thanks again that is what I love about RUclips sharing in Everyone's story!!
which is better the k-duo plus or the k-supreme plus? Thank you. Another fantastic video.
check out this video I made about this ruclips.net/video/qORu4yjjljw/видео.html
I've watched the cleaning and descaling videos, is there any way to remove the sliding part of the basket? I have been using hot water and a big bowl but it's still a messy, wet endeavor
I have not found a way yet. sorry.
I don't know if you found a different solution? Since it's not removable, I was thinking the same as you with some kind of foam brush like for baby bottles?
Thank you!!! I just bought this coffee maker tonight. And quite honestly I cannot wait to use it. This video was awesome.
Thanks for Watching and you very kind words!!!
@@JustADad So, Ive had this now for about a week. Ive maybe used it less than 10 times. This morning I went to brew a Kcup and it wouldn’t brew. It kept giving me the ADD WATER prompt eeven though the water was full to the max line. So I did all the usual I could think of. Turned it off and on, unplugged it from the walll. I came on YT trying to find a solution and I couldn’t. So, I decided cto empty the water out a bit and it worked. I just found it odd that it wouldn’t go with the water being at the max line, nor would it give me the prompts on the buttons. So I wanted to know if you’ve ever experienced this and / or is this a common issue? Thanks.
@@j_u_n_e_bug8746 Yes this happens from time to time. I have even had to turn mine upside down and shake it. I am going to be taking mine apart in the near future to try and figure this out.
Honestly was hesitant to watch when I saw this video was 36 minutes. However, before I knew it the video was already over. & I feel like I knew everything I needed to know about this unit I was just gifted. Appreciate you for making this video! It’s great!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your kind words!!!
You are awsome...I have been watching all your reviews to determine what new Keurig I want. I have the k15 classic mini..it is still working great bought 6years ago..simple and easy use every day...I wish I had a pot sometimes..no room on counter for another machine..I an seriously considering the duo plus after watching several of your videos with this model. I've searched many reviews and this duo had the most positive reviews..👍
Good choice! its a great coffee maker. thanks for watching and your kind words!!
Great review. Let's say I brew a pot, fill my mug and leave the house. Any way this would indicate fresh coffee was awaiting my wife who wakes later?
Thanks for the kind words. Sorry no indication, but good news is the coffee stays hot a really long time. I did a video and tested how long the coffee stays hot and it is over 2 hours. ruclips.net/video/63jERuTWUxM/видео.html
My grandma has had this one for about 3 years and she absolutely loves it!
Awesome!!
I was going to buy one from Walmart and wondered why it was cheaper. This review explains that. What model is this competed to the one at Walmart?
I made a video on it. ruclips.net/video/qORu4yjjljw/видео.html
How long does the carafe keep it hot please
Question for anyone who has one of these. Is there an alarm when the pot is finished brewing AND can you turn it off?
No alarm when pot is finished
I really appreciate all your videos. I'm also looking at the Kitchenaid Burr Grinder, thanks to you.
After reading all the comments, I still have these questions for this K-Duo Plus:
1. Brew head: is this a rain/shower/multi stream, or a single stream? If you had the basket off when it was upside down for reservoir change, I could have seen it 😁
2. Have you noticed a taste difference in other models that use multi stream?
3. Brew temp? (I suppose you can use your thermometer as the coffee comes out for kcup dispenser. I know you said the temp is about 170° after brew)
4. Carafe cleaning: how do you clean the carafe besides rinsing?
7. Is the kcup pod holder removable to insert the custom kpod for your own grinds?
8. Does it come with the custom grind kpod?
Hi, can you already put sugar in the water in the jug, before preparation? for the coffee to come out sweet?
Yes, absolutely just don';t run it through the coffee maker.
Greetings, thank you for this informative video. Please if you can provide a link to the paper filter you are using? Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. There aren’t many video reviews showing people how to compare different coffee makers, the brands, and how to actually work them. Please keep making review videos !
So once you set the timer to come on in the morning does it remember your settings and you just press the auto button to brew another pot of coffee in the morning?
My husband makes a cup of coffee with a k-cup after I brew a half pot with grounds. What if he doesn't empty out the grounds first and makes his cup? Are the two independent? Thanks for the great video! Sorry if you answered this question in the video and I missed it.
yes there are 2 different holes the coffee comes out. one in the back part is for the k cup and if you look just a little more forward of that is where the coffee pot coffee comes out. You are perfectly ok to leave the grounds in and brew your k cup, you will not get any mixing!!!
Great Question
What is your favorite coffee?
@@JustADad Thanks for the reply! I figured as much with the two different outputs I saw but wanted to double check. That's great news. Husband is nervous about this one. He wants the keurig side by side. I did too but it seems to get horrible reviews. Plus, I like the thermal carafe and better reservoir. Currently, I'm drinking lavazza. I love coffee but I'm not that knowledgeable so the coffee snobs would probably hate my coffee but who cares, right? 😁 Thanks again for the reply!
@@elly6922 I think a lot of us are just plain coffee drinkers, I agree we make it how we like it!! I agree the K Duo Plus is a much better machine. I did a comparison video where I brewed coffee side by side with all 3 K duo's that Keurig makes and this one is the clear winner. ruclips.net/video/qORu4yjjljw/видео.html
So what coffee maker do you use out of all these or which one is your favorite?
Great Question. Technivorm Moccamaster Coffee Maker KBG when I make a pot of coffee and a K Supreme plus smart when I make a k cup. I use each one about 1/2 the time each. The moccamaster is $300 I am not sure it is worth so much extra money, I have it because I bought it to do a review, the K Duo plus would be very high on my list of coffee makers that I like.
Not working
Can I brew 4 cups instead of 6?
no only 6
