I had no idea the PC Engine had such an expanded story! I like that a lot! There's so much more depth and high stakes involved, and it certainly makes more sense why Zeus would revive a legendary beast-man of the past, rather than a random centurion. This was a great video!
Back in 1989 after saving and selling off my NES and games I bought a Genesis and this game along with Golden Axe. Let me tell you back then this stuff was amazing! I did end up playing this on the GBA, but I had ZERO idea there was a NES version until your video. Going to go watch a video of that right now.
The Altered Beast games are high praised hot garbage, I can't seem to get past any game that make you too tall onscreen... I am glad other people enjoy them and I don't mind watching the playthroughs, just for me I can not " get good " at games where my hit box is too tall. I always loved the artwork on these games too.

This channel has mostly been a backup for my stream VODs, so the more in-depth standalone videos about things I love are an added direction I'm taking with it starting this year. I'll be taking it slow with them to make sure they cover all the bases, but keep an eye out!
Got an anime suggestion for you. "To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts" (Japanese: かつて神だった獣たちへ, Hepburn: Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi e) I figure this is one you haven't heard of. I have to warn you, if you watch it, it will make you sad and angry. I think it was pretty awesome though.
YES! Project: Altered Beast is something I want to look into at some point, although it never got a USA release. My big hangup on it though is that the transformation cutscenes seem, uh... rather gorey for my taste. I'm shocked that they went away from the wacky cartoonishness of the other games. But the idea of a sci-fi Altered Beast is really exciting to me, so I'll have to brave it and check it out!

I love the Gba game even tho its flawed, Altered beast is an example of great conept but poor excution
