As an homage to the old days of black-and-white animation, early jazz and good ole Cab Calloway himself, the Legendary Shack Shakers proudly present their video for "Sing A Worried Song" off their new album After You've Gone.
Complete with Betty Boop-era cartoon skeletons, live action pre-Moonwalk soft-shoe, and even a cameo from Squirrel Nut Zipper/Grammy-winning producer Jimbo Mathus, "Sing A Worried Song" imagines what might happen if we go whistling past the graveyard taking too many selfies!
Months in the making, this video is the brainchild of Shack Shakers frontman/songwriter JD Wilkes and the talented animator Zach Bellissimo (“Rick & Morty”, "Long Gone Gulch", "Motorcity").
The song and characters explode off the screen thanks to Bellissimo’s warped sense of humor and eye for action, Wilkes’ early stage storyboards and live performance, and America’s resurging interest in the old Fleischer, “rubber” cartoon style.

I like this music video it reminds me of the old classic Fleischer cartoons with Cab Calloway and a little bit of cuphead! Kudos to all those who made this and the singer too! This song was in the pilot for Long Gone Gulch so that was cool!

Corey Smith This isn't their usual style from what I understand. Can't say I listen to them frequently but it seems like they're more Southern/swamp rock and punk, like Hank Williams III.

I actually really enjoyed the animation and style of this-- music included. I was reminded of a few old cartoons-- from 'Minnie the Moocher' to Silly Symphonies' 'Skeleton Dance. I was also getting 'Alice's Wonderland' vibes-- though I think that could just be given to the silent movie era vibes in general. Just loved it!

If I may be that fun guy at parties that butts in, it's more likely a reference to Cab Calloway, to go with the rest of the video being an homage to old Fleischer cartoons - more specifically Betty Boop songs.
To clarify for anyone reading that may be confused, a few Betty Boop shorts featured a song by Cab Calloway, with the character in the cartoon singing it being a cartoon character rotoscoped over footage of him dancing. These shorts tended to start with a brief live-action clip of Cab Calloway doing his dancing in front of a band to credit him being in it.
Yeah more than anything Danny Elfman in Face Like a Frog was playing the Cab Calloway in Minnie the Moocher bit. The video "Ghost of Stephen Foster" by the Squirrel Nut Zippers is also basically the same video as this one and the Minnie The Moocher Betty Boop short, just retold slightly differently.
