After 8 years mine is still perfect. I pleked it to get rid of some fretbuzz maybe 8 months after buying it. The only downside is the lack of intonation screws, but there is a device to buy for easier intonation. It took me one hour to intonate it. But it seems to hold the intonation now in summer. I did it during winter.
Just bought one of these on Saturday. Fun guitars to play! Surprised at the fret work. have to say I really love the gravity storm pickups in these, personally like me much better than the evos. Great demos!
That tone you had at 5.10 was sweet as....I recently purchased the exact same guitar....the fret work is awesome and the neck is extremely stable having two KTS truss rods. Four months after I purchased the guitar it went up another £200....so that made it even more worth it....definitely want too purchase the prestige Japanese built Jem in the future....
Thanks captain. Lol love this guitar and my Laney rig so it's easy to be inspired. Improvise all of our videos and have to think about talking as well lol so it's nice when people like it.
thanks for doing this review gents. Listening to the tone convinced me to switch my order of the JS24pca to this, since I want that additional high end in a shred guitar like this. It's due to arrive tomorrow - here's hoping they don't send me a dud :P
@@PaulGlover quick follow up, I got it and couldn't be happier with it. I was a little worried I wouldn't like the neck for two reasons: it's very different from the LP I'm used to and I'd tried my guitar teacher's 90's RG a while back and hated it (too wide / flat), but this one's great. I did damage the finish a little on the (very skinny) horn while installing strap locks - people who buy this guy might want to put a piece of electric tape on there to prevent the finish from tearing like mine did.
I love the idea of these guitars. The only thing that worries me is the trem. I'm used to the Edge trem on my S series guitar from japan and I'm wondering how these trems work compared to the Edge? Thanks for the video. Very cool. Love the guitar! Thanks for sharing..
@Paul Glover - Do you have a view on the JEM77P versus the RG655. I have just ordered the JEM and am now concerned regards the build quality especially as I have a JEM 7BSB which I've owned since '97; and don't want to be disappointed given that comaprison. The RG655 is prestige and no doubt has slightly superior hardware - the JEM obviously 'sells' on it provanace and visual appeal! Cheers Nic
Nic Hull these guys are pretty close man. The build quality is up there in the RG but the Jem is by no means a million miles away. I have a premium Jem and shes never let me down dude.
to be fair every RG model is a via, and someone correct me if im wrong, but wasnt the jem brought out first by Ibanez then the RG was made as an "affordable" jem. so the chicken came befor the egg in this case so to speak. so im going to have to agree with you on the les paul quote. i can only think of one other guitar that comes close to that the randy roads V. even esp has the SV which is a direct copy.
Luke, the whole RG/JEM line came out at same time. Fall 1987. The RG350 priced at $350, RG550 at $550 and the JEM777 at. $777 bucks. The original 550 is identical to the 777 in build, wood, neck, frets, etc. save for better DiMarzio PUs, monkey grip, and pyramid inlays with the JEM. How do I know this? I sat and played them both at the time but could only afford the 550. That $200+ difference in 1987 was a big deal. So I passed on a new LNG JEM. Little did I know the next 25 years.....
I do not know if I understood correctly ... then a Jem, sounds like a Les Paul but much more comfortable to play ... is it true? Thanks, I've been looking for a Les Paul sound for years without complications.
I have no doubt they are drastically different pickups. But I was wondering, what differences do you think there would be between a PRS HFS and a Gravity Storm? I've had a Gravity Storm bridge pickup for about a year still in the box and been meaning to install it in my Chapman ML-1 as I'm not happy with how that sounds stock anymore, but I've been thinking about maybe what it'd sound like in my PRS.
Tony Larremore tough that one mate. I would have to say no, but 3k to some people is pocket money or to me its a bug sum if coin. If you have the money and you want the beat spend the money but you dont need to. in my opinion.
Thanks for getting back to me mate. I actually got one today... along with upgrading the axe with the same black pups setup that are in the FP2. (w/Evo2) Sounds and even looks better to me. I'll try and do a review soon. I have a Laser blue RG 25th Anniversary I may upgrade with the blue gravity storm. In any case, thanks again for your input. Peace!
How good is this guitar compared to a Prestige model? I mean, well, it basically costs as much as many prestiges (and those, besides, come with a hardcase). Is it comparable in terms of quality? Thanks!
They are comparable but premiums are not quite there with prestige's, i have had the uv70p model first one had good finish and fretwork but wouldn't stay in tune so i got new guitar of the same model, now its perfect. their indonesian factories seem to have some problems with their quality control.
The Jr is awesome but is a different beast. For the money you can't go wrong. For me if you are gigging and using your guitar alot, plump up the extra coin and got a premium man. If your new to this you get s jem for £350 now that can not be a bad thing.
Man so sorry for the late replies google is not informing me of messages. It's just some improv stuff dude. I tend not to think to much about the playing or what iam saying and just tell you how I find it. That feels more honest to me. Hooe you enjoy and thank you for your patience man.
