Hey Ryan, fantastic series...I watched it all. A wonderful whirlwind trip for you and I hope it helped your relationship with Hoka in it all. Your excitement simply being there resonated with me. When I finally qualified for and made it to Boston in 2019, after a ten year journey, it was so similar. Totally identify. Cool you got to do the trip, look forward to hearing more reflections on it as you see fit. Welcome home!!! P.S. Isn't "Rucky Chucky" the best name ever for a spot on a running route??
I was a Rucky Chucky volunteer in the river when Hayden went thru and dropped his bottle. We were able to retrieve it and got it to his pacer. He may have been upset because he suffered from dehydration last year and didn't want to risk that again.
What a wonderful collection of videos charting your journey with Hoka at the Western States! As someone from the UK who hears a lot about UTMB in Europe, this by far has grabbed my attention and I would love to come visit. I still cant believe the way Hayden left Forest Hill at 62miles like he was starting a 5k, incredible. All your footage has been wonderful, Ryan (your usual standard I might add) and I hope the relationship with Hoka leads to other fantastic opportunities. One day I hope to be in the States and say hi 🙂
epic insights at the aidstations! they really are like pitstops. the runners being racecar and driver all at once. you deserve a golden ticket for those two videos Ryan! so good!
Love it. Great coverage out there! You definitely zapped your energy this last weekend. You could of used a megaphone and Little Fauci similar to Mohican near the root wall. Well done R. Clayton!
What’s up Ryan! So crazy I found your channel- I was watching some videos/interviews about the BFC/marathons and came across some of your videos like “I know that dude!” -great content man, hope all is well with you. Subbed (of course😀)
You're welcome!! Yeah I think you're right, Adios Pro 2. But yeah very interesting choice for Cal street and the last 38 miles of WSER. But it looks like it worked!!
that was a really professional crew. Everybody knew what to do. I guess Hoka runners are more hippies who take every moment how it comes but adidas is perfectly engineered German machine. I visited the HQ in Herzogenaurach already in the Late 90s. Since then it has changed completely and they really takes sports seriously.
Thank you Hoka and Ryan!
Yes, thanks Hoka! And thank you for watching Mandy!!

thanks as always Ryan! Great content, glad you were able to get out to WSER again this year!
So glad, thanks Graham!
I love watching Camille run. It gives me all the feels to see someone with a “imperfect” gait absolutely kill it. So. Freakin. Cool.
She is so awesome!!!

The girl running in the sandals at 18:28 wins most impressive. Haha.

Loved all the content from Western States! It’s really making me re-think not running a qualifier this year.

Ryan, you should just be the de facto WSER documentarian from here on out. These video have been soooooooooooo good.

A bit fun to see Adizero Pro 2(?) in a trail race though. :-)

Amazing footage. Was Ruth wearing Adios pros?
Yeah she switched to adidas adios pro 2 at Foresthill 👍
Is there no mandatory kit with this race? I'm amazed to see runners carrying so little
No mandatory gear here. Just carry what you need👍👍
Oh my God it’s like some people think states is a team relay
They were hunted by Dinosaurs!?! That is a motivation "not to be eaten by them":-)
Haha, yeah that was Ruth's crew, they promised to dress up in dinosaur costumes if she was in first place on the track!
Any time Hoka wants to send me to any of their races, just have em call me.... I still pay $150 bux for their shoez! Jus sayin.....
Hoka is awesome!
