Since the beginning of December I have been seriously ill in hospital with sepsis and pneumonia. All the way through it I’m worried because I’m getting behind with Christmas, I even rang my hubby in tears because I was so ill banging on about I haven’t booked the turkey or a tree and it’s going to be a disaster. I’m home and doing a lot better now and everything is all in hand. It just goes to show how true this programme is 😊
I love this too. I remember loving it when it came out & I was only in my early 20’s. You’d probably like the older & wider podcast that Jenny Eclair & Judith Holder (she’s the lady who acts in this)
Christmas is as hard or easy as you want to make it!!! Christmas to me is church, cosy Christmas films, wondetful TV, chillin and a budget of £5 per person, I'd rather give to charity....adopt a donkey, and people give my budget to Charity, I love the old fashioned Christmas 😊❤
I don't have any cookbooks by Delia or Nigella, I don't make my own mince pies, or Christmas cake or sausage rolls. The only decorations are on the Christmas tree which goes up about 3 days before Christmas. I don't care what a lack of Christmas cards says about me, although I do like to make sure Christmas dinner is good and the table is laid nicely. I don't go completely go nuts like I used to.
I do enjoy Nigella Lawson's Christmas specials and I made some of her desserts, like her Nutella cheesecake, triple chocolate brownies and her spruced up vanilla cake (using a Bundt pan). 😋 I've also made on multiple occasions her mousse which uses mini marshmallows instead of eggs.
I have never seen this but what stands out to me is that as funny as these women are , ALL that they say is SAD BUT TRUE !!! I bowed out of ALL THAT IS XMAS 20+ years ago . I don't buy presents for ANYONE and I don't expect any from anyone . I don't stress , I don't care -- my blood pressure is high enough without all that commercial , pretentious BS .
I remember my mum giving me a toilet brush holder shaped as a lady in crinalin dress , shocked 😮 but now she has passed away I cherish it and those memories 😊

You have to control Christmas, rather than allow Christmas to control you! My Xmas tree goes up the week of Xmas, not a day before. I limit my gift buying to parents and siblings, and we all set a limit of £10 each, so just a gesture of a gift really. We get together for Xmas lunch on Xmas day, and that’s it. End of.
Sounds like a man, or the woman who organizes everything. Who buys, brings home and decorates the tree, hosts the event, cooks the Christmas lunch, buys the gifts and cleans up.
I love anything I receive but I've never received used soap so ... And my mom was always a good gift giver and receiver but we did help her get the gifts when we were adults, especially my oldest brother and myself. The three of us did most of the wrapping too. My brother is a great wrapper and I would match ribbon and bow and label. We miss our mom.
I fixate on Christmas for the entire year and then realize on Christmas Eve that I haven't dug out the cups, plates and glasses with the yuletide designs out of the garage AGAIN this year. They're out there somewhere. I'll probably find them in June when I'm looking for something else.
I hate the words from my husbands mouth, as we’re about to go for a pre Christmas meal out with friends, or a birthday, ‘Did you get a birthday/Christmas card for so and so’. I could get into very strong words with him, starting with’ Why, did you get cards for them too?’.
Christmas was so nice when l was a kid in the 70s. It all changed now. It all about the presents. I stopped enjoying Christmas when my daughter grew up 20 yrs ago! I dread it now. Sad really. 😮

Traditions are very out dated. I loved the magical Xmas times when a young and innocent girl sharing fun and happy times with my big family back in the fifties/sixties. These days it just seems over commercialised and is consumerism gone mad. I can understand why so many people stress and strain and get into so much debt about it. I don`t envy the parents of today who are put under so much financial pressure which surrounds them competing with other parents/ friends and families. Providing for their kids with just the basics and essentials is not easy at the best of times. Material things are not important in life they are just stuff which clutter our lives and the older we get the more we realise it. Kindness in deeds and love is the best things we can give and offer to others and which are priceless, and should be given all year round not just once a year.
Omg last weekend, I was the one assembling the artificial tree that has been in the cold garage, spending an hour looking for the plugs to light up the lights on it, untangling the colored light strings, looping them around the tree, moving the couch back and forth to find the outlet for the power strip and wrapping whatever gifts my husband buys because he still has no clue how to wrap them himself! Aaaaarregh! 😫😫😫

Turkeys, like chicken should be cooked "upside down", i.e. breast down so all the juices run into it and keep it moist. Not a lot of people know that.
