  • I have a relaxing watercolour video for you to wish you all a Happy Christmas & Happy Holidays, and hopefully introduce you to some new and unique colours you've probably never seen before! I treated myself to some new Wallace Seymour vintage watercolours, and in this video I'll swatch their 'Highland' and 'Oxfordshire Earths' sets. I also used some of my Jackson's affiliate credit to buy two of the Schmincke Horadam Super Granulation sets, 'Desert' and 'Glacier'. I hope that you enjoy watching the 'pebble swatching', and a huge thank you to all of you for your amazing support throughout 2022!

Always lovely to see see a haul and searching video from you Natasha,to hear why you chose the colours and how they will be used in your amazing work.I think as we evolve as artists the way we see colour does change, and we see potential in newer colours and also those new colours can also lead to changing our work too,can spark new ideas.I think the bird egg idea would look amazing, but I think the granulating paints would also be good for feather paintings too.I must admit I did treat myself for Christmas with some new colours from the A Gallo paints (I may be addicted to their paints!).I am going to look into the Wallace Seymour paints,as that Terre Verte looked really stunning,of the other colours you shared with us,I loved the Dessert yellow, then the Glacier Black,Glacier,Green,Glacier Blue and the Glacier Turquoise is really beautiful.I love that the Wallace Seymour paints are mineral based pigments, will check out the artrec site and put together a palette of these beautiful colours.I definitely think pebble swatching is THE way to Swatch!,as it does show the colours so well.(Matt) p.s wishing you and Dominic a really happy Christmas and an inspiring and creative new year

Not come across Wallace and Seymour before - thanks for sharing them with us! I can totally understand your idea of using them for birds' eggs - after you said that, it looked like you were swatching birds' eggs rather than pebbles...! 🤭
As for favourite colours, that's a difficult one because they're all so beautiful! 🤔
I like the Schmincke granulation range too - especially the unexpected colours that pop out like the red tones in a green - but I think the glacier brown may be my favourite here... Maybe the W&S Davey's grey... Because "all the colours" isn't really telling you my favourite! 😁
Maybe also the W&S terre verte with white mica highlights? (if combo's are allowed 😉) That could be my favourite birds' egg? 😁
My daughter had NO trouble with her favourite - glacier turquoise followed by the terre verte! 😍

What a lovely 17-ish min break from the Christmas music we've been listening to non stop for three days 😊 we've all got the flu/covid and had to cancel all Christmas plans. Yet three days of quiet has been lovely. We've had wonderful food, watched home alone again and built Christmas lego sets we got under the tree 🥰 from the first ten I actually like the browns and the turquoise. From the second set that extra green is beautiful! Wishing you a merry Christmas and lots of joy using your new colours 🎄

8:48 I believe this is the result of flocculation, particularly since you can already see it in the palette, though that could also just be due to a less finely ground pigment in the binder. Either way, it's a neat effect.
And the Morar White Quartz looks like it could be really amazing for painting white marble subjects. I keep editing my response, because the Wallace Seymour paints are just so wonderful! I love the appearance of the Rhymer's Soot when dried. Torridon River Gravel could also work well for shaggy sheep, I think. Thanks for sharing these!

I saw a video some time ago where the artist was saying that she loves these supergranulating watercolours but she was not able to get good results in actual paintings, especially when doing washes; so I would be interested in seeing how you use them.

Hello sweet Natasha , Happy New Year! Thank you for sharing your art supply haul. These are the 🍼 “ cream in my coffee “ to learn about art supplies. I think I told you, I live in the middle of Tennessee and all the art stores are around 100 miles away in all directions plus my favorite, Blick’s, is 200 miles away! (I have begged Blick’s to open a store here as it would probably be the most successful store they could have.)The art hauls and swatching and thoughts about the products by talented artist, as yourself, is invaluable information. I love going to the art stores and buying online, both can be overwhelming but now I seldom buy the wrong products. I can get carried away buying “too much” of a product I fall in love with, 😏 if that’s actually possible! I don’t think so. I’m referring to my Caran d’Ache Neocolor’s 😊 of course.
Your wonderful RUclips video’s are my coffee ☕️! I love watching you drawing your landscapes. They remind me of folk art, but more beautiful and professional. Everything you do is so helpful for me to grow as an artist and I greatly appreciate all the hard work, time, and expenses you put in to create your videos and artwork. You are wonderful and amazing. May you and Dominic have a successful and Happy New Year! Thank you for sharing my love, Fran

I went through a real Terre Verte and Davy’s Grey phase - they are amazing for subtle nature backgrounds!! Just wondering why you don’t mention pigment information anymore, I would have thought that most of your viewers would be interested (or am I the only pigment nerd? 🤓😅). Have a wonderful Christmas!! 🎄🎅🏻

I sometimes wonder whether to bring back the pigment info! Maybe I will. :)

i have been eyeing desert green for a while now! I didn't know the other brand but it looks really cool. Since you are on a granulation high, have you tried the white nights granulation colors?

QUESTION??? with the Wallace Seymour paints, did they have a granular texture or gritty to the touch after they dried and were you able to wipe that away?? The quartz one looks a lot less grainy/spotted after it dried and looks like it's gone. I just purchased some hand made watercolor and it's much grainier than I'm used too and when dry some wipes away and was wondering if these did the same? I love both of those sets. That verte green is everything. Merry Christmas

I'm not in my studio right now (I've been away for 4 weeks) but when I return, I'll see if some of the grittiness wipes away!

I’ve been lusting after all of these, thanks for the vid. Were the Wallace ones worth the money, would you say?😊

Definitely! Many of them are quite different to "normal" watercolours in that they're very speckled/grainy, but I like that. The colours are very unique and beautiful. It all depends on your preferences. :)
