- I know a thing or two about ZSS, but do OTHERS? That's what I've set out to solve today, by reviewing IZAW's ZSS Guide. Is it accurate? Is it outdated? DOES ZSS STILL SUCK? (The answer to that last question is obviously yes.)

Izaw is like, the GOAT for "new character" guide, for the average player. He's got enough of a grasp on the game and it's mechanics to know every character's strengths and weaknesses, even if he doesn't play each one at a top tier level. His Link is his strongest character for sure, but the man can really pick up whoever he wants at this point and beat any non-tournament level player. And when I say "tournament level" I don't mean Random Steve #678 that made it to top 64 by playing Steve or Aegis, I mean lower level regional bracket players.
dude's guide is actually good. I get why Marss has to critique some things for competitive play and appearance reasons, but it is an informative and clean guide for newer/mid/more experienced players.
100%. His target audience isn’t the best player of a character. It’s people trying to learn a character. Marss and his chat don’t seem to get that.

I think he provides valuable information on what a character's strengths and weaknesses are.
I never considered him to be a combo guide, so I am not surprised that the combos he mentioned are a bit outdated and not necessarily true
@@ngotemna8875 I very much agree. he is very good for learning a characters neutral, win condition, advantage, and specifics/set play of the character but fails in explaining execution or routing.
I was curious about Yoshi, and his video showed me things that made yoshi look like a top 10 character. Options and applications I'd never even considered. Amazing info!

Way more consistent, way easier because you do not have to wait depending on how much damage the enemy has.
Izaw does go to tournaments in montreal, he's current ranked 10th on the pr (if that's the link I'm thinking of)

Having said that, I'm not sure what you mean? He had just got hit by up-tilt, and used down-b on pretty much the first actionable frame, i.e. "out of" hitstun.

I try not to mald at Steve but not having a sour spot on the handle of tools feels fucking insane with how strong and huge they are.

I just think the power levels of the materials are ridiculous. Why does Diamond up air do 11% it literally combos better than Meta Knight upair, which does 5 (or 2% if staled)

@@idkwhattoputhere871 is it though? Steve is capable of stacking diamonds by constant mining, it’s far from reasonable for him to be that powerful.
Besides, my argument holds with wooden upair, which does 8 on its own, which is still more than any other upair combo character (ZSS, Mythra, MK, Mario, Falcon, etc)

It’s funny you mention how you mentioned you would go over each character’s moves and their use cases in your hypothetical tutorial, because that was exactly what Izaw did in his Smash 4 character tutorials. He only switched to the current format in early Ultimate.
I swear when watching you Marss, more moves you hit combo into Arial boost kick than I can count, and nobody talks about it.

I've been thinking about how a lot of ZSS's kit translates over to Joker
Poking with zair is similar to Gun, plus Joker gets yeeha
ZSS landing nair and Joker landing fair 1 are both pseudo-safe options against shield but lead to big combos/kills
ZSS's dashes are better, but Joker runs really low to the ground. Both are high mobility characters
Flipjump and down Gun in disadvantage do very different things, but are still uniquely good disadvantage tools
But Joker doesn't sux
This hit me when I saw Marss at Summit tech chasing with f smash. It seems unconventional but after thinking about it more, it's probably a carry-over of him tech chasing with ZSS d smash
