Have the same 8 string myself and, despite being a B stock item, I can find no fault with it, frets are fine with no rough edges, tuners hold tune pretty well and the finish is flawless, the only issue I have with it is the pick ups, I was thinking about upgrading them but wasn't sure for what....so, if you could do that instead you'd save me a lot of time and money...lol

I have a R-457 fan fret. The stock tuners and pickups are awful. Now with Gotoh tuners and EMG X, it sounds way better and stays in tune. I bought the EMG used but I had to buy the Gotoh new.

NYXL 64-10, which are an 8 string set minus the 74. Adjusted the truss rod and intonation and she plays beautifully… just need pup swap now! I’m just unsure if I wanna do a simple passive soap bar swap or just go all out with some Fishmans. Lol
Please take in consideration moding of 8 string because I would like to see what pickups can be suitable for this particular guitar. I have the same one and I am struggling to find pickups of right size and shape.
This review came just in time I bought a cheap (240€) guitar to start learning I did And I thought about this 8 string for an upgrade Thanks for showing me this So when it will be recording time, get a mid range 8 string, not low end again 🤘
Anyone who's being condescending about 7-8 string guitars actually fear them due to them having to completely learn something new and having to accept that all their 6 string habits no longer work on these instruments. Y'all can say what you want, that's a fact nobody can deny, go play one and you'll find out quickly. 👏
I have a tele from Harley that doesn't play too well. I don't know if it's frets that need to be leveled or the fretboard needing to be oiled. How would you say that playing quality is on these (other than holding tuning)? Mine doesn't hold tuning well either. I was debating on getting a 7 string from HB. Would love to see what you do and if you have time to reply I would appreciate it greatly!!
I've got one of the cheaper fanned-fret 7 strings, the R-457BK, and it plays REALLY well! The pickups weren't great, though, so I spent 2x more than the price of the guitar itself on a pair of Bare Knuckles War Pigs in it.. Totally worth it, I prefer the feel of the R-457BK over the feel of my RG7420 from 2000!
Wasn't even paying that much attention between the 6 and 7 and I could tell a difference in the sound. I'd say I like the way the 7 sounded more for some reason.
I got that 6 string baritone a few years ago. Immediately had to replace the output jack cause it was...jacked up lol. After a year or so, went to change the strings and the nut fell off. Still a decent guitar but I'd never buy another HB.
I have a HB 27" 7 string baritone, but I guess it's not in production anymore. It's a Harley Benton Baritone-7SB DLX. The new variant is called Harley Benton Baritone-7 SBK.
Yo! HB deserves a good looking at. I got a 7 strings multiscale - the 7BBB - it has that same pickups as the 8...with a bit of work you can get a good tone out of it. And the guitar is a pleasant surprise for the price you cannot beat it and it plays better than guitars 4 times it's price!! What you forgot to say about the amarok is that they also are neck through construction l
Dude I was wondering if you were going to snag the 8 string. I was looking at it myself. I Honestly would suggest switching out the pickups on it tho. I kind of had a feeling that the stock benton pickups weren't going to be as good. for the 6 and 7. Those pickups actually sounded pretty tight. I'm not a fan of active pickups in general tho. but if i were to get those 2 guitars. I'd leave those pickups in shockingly. but again the pickups on the 8 need to go.
The 8th is reallllly muddy.... swapping PUPs would be my first idea. Tuners perhaps as well? Gotohs... but then gain, this increases the price directly with about 500
It looks like a re-branded Agile. I’m getting the exact same vibes. The higher-end Agile’s have EMGs, same exact headstock shape.. something smells fishy.
Hey Andrew, Thanks for the video! Great as always. Definitely will consider HB for a 7 or a baritone 6. Do you know if HB will be doing any extended range basses? The only brand for ERB at lower prices is Gear4Music and I’d be interested in hearing about an alternative.
Wait a minute, my 8 string is supposed to be your same model, but mine has a different fretboard. Should be roasted Jatoba, right? But mine is waaaay brighter than yours! Also the body paint seems slightly different, in my case is darker. In my case my guitar out of the box also has a lot of fret buzz on the 8th string, is it something you experienced as well?

Y'all can say what you want, that's a fact nobody can deny, go play one and you'll find out quickly. 👏
I have a tele from Harley that doesn't play too well. I don't know if it's frets that need to be leveled or the fretboard needing to be oiled. How would you say that playing quality is on these (other than holding tuning)? Mine doesn't hold tuning well either. I was debating on getting a 7 string from HB. Would love to see what you do and if you have time to reply I would appreciate it greatly!!
Just bought the 8 string a couple of weeks ago!
I love everything about this.
Wasn't even paying that much attention between the 6 and 7 and I could tell a difference in the sound. I'd say I like the way the 7 sounded more for some reason.
Can you show how low the baritone will go while holding tuning?
They're definitely very good for a price. Got Amarok-6 and it's great.
Wish they make X shape with thinner neck in pro series that'd be amazing.
I got that 6 string baritone a few years ago. Immediately had to replace the output jack cause it was...jacked up lol. After a year or so, went to change the strings and the nut fell off. Still a decent guitar but I'd never buy another HB.
I’m interested in seeing the 8 string upgrade video as well as the baritone vs 7 string guitar
Really torn between a harley benton 7 or an agile headless. Only reason I'm straying from harley is they only offer 25.5 scales on the 7s
I have a HB 27" 7 string baritone, but I guess it's not in production anymore. It's a Harley Benton Baritone-7SB DLX. The new variant is called Harley Benton Baritone-7 SBK.
could you upgrade the pickups with a fishman pleaase tosin abasi set ?
Would be fun to see you upgrade the guitar with as budget the price of the guitar, should be doable right?
finally !! what ive been waiting for !!
What’s’ tuning on seven?
They should do an Amarok 8 string multiscale (26"-28")
Hey! Where does this riff on 10:01 come from? Is it a Carcosa song?
Yep! It’s from Carcosa - Descensus
I have the baritone Amarok in the same color, it’s impossible to beat the specs for the money
The 8th is reallllly muddy.... swapping PUPs would be my first idea. Tuners perhaps as well? Gotohs... but then gain, this increases the price directly with about 500
I hopeee you demo the legator guitar tooo man!
It looks like a re-branded Agile. I’m getting the exact same vibes. The higher-end Agile’s have EMGs, same exact headstock shape.. something smells fishy.
Is that rhythm patch available anywhere? Jeeeez
My biggest problem with the 8 is that there basically is no arm rest. I get bruises from the sharp edge pressing on my arm.
Everything I have from HB has been fantastic
UP GRADE!!!!!!!
Absolutely sick design's dude Ur jumpers are really cool, how much to get one to Syd Australia? I'll happily wear Ur band logo want some exposure in Aus? Definitely instrested
Would love to see pickup and string upgrade
ive waited for this review like forever
Lol I used to have so many giitats lik that , wish I knew about extended range back then ,
im so frugal im working on making an 8 string by hand, i already have the tools, and although those are good prices for an 8 string, im reclaiming my wood for the project and im trying to do it for under 100$
