My dad and him were best friends. Early 80's he would come hang out at the Dunes and my mom, dad, and him would play poker...my dad worked there until they closed. Telly actually introduced himself to me one night when I was there, had to be 7th grade, nighttime....he sat at an empty table across from where I sat, just staring at me.. my dad walked up to me and Telly said "Good looking daughter you got there, Joe". OMG! KOJAK thought I was good looking! My heart jumped out of my chest! He was a great guy, friend, actor, everything... we miss him every day. Dad is up at the BIG POKER ROOM in the sky playing with him again. WHO LOVES ❤️ YA BABY! Just watched KOJAK Season 1 Episode 1 last night....George was in it and HARVEY KEITEL!!

What an absolute classic !!! It's so cheesy that it's brilliant. And, what an awesome voice he had too. This version reflected the sign of the times for 1975. The end of the influence from the 1960s and the hippy era when chart music had all different styles of music and when people were very naive but happy. An era that will never ever be repeated or forgotten.

Right, this is from the former German music chart programme "Disco", it was broadcasted weekly during the Seventies.Every song came with an address blended in where fans could write to and order an autograph for free. The German artists often had their own private (unthinkable nowadays) addresses shown while mail for international star usually went to some agent from the record company.
This makes me feel melancholy, playing Kojak he became a cultural icon, Telly had such screen presence!

I heard this song this evening on the car radio in Ireland... I couldn't wait to get home and find it on RUclips... He sounds like Leonard Cohen... 👍 Fantastic I think.

If a picture paints a thousand words
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know
If a face could launch a thousand ships
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you
You're all that's left me to
And when my love for life is running dry
You come and pour yourself on me
If a man could be two places at one time
    I'd be with you
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die
I'd spend the end with you
And when the world was through
Then one by one the stars would all go out
Then you and I would simply fly away

For those interested, Telly Savalas also sang on a couple songs for the soundtrack in the Kojak series. Kojak: Elegy In An Asphalt Graveyard
Season 2 : Ep. 20. "Azure Dee", lyrics by James McAdams. That is 1 that I know of.

On this day in 1975 {March 8th} Telly Savalas' covered version of "If" peaked at #1 {for 2 weeks} on the United Kingdom's Singles chart...
His version did not make Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart...
And on February 15th, 1981 his covered version of Don Williams' "Some Broken Hearts Never Mend" reached #1 {for 2 weeks} on the Swiss Top Singles chart...
Aristotelis 'Telly' Savalas passed away on January 22nd, 1994; the day after his 72nd birthday...
    May he R.I.P.
