Savage Flies is a project with the mission of encouraging and teaching fly tying to as many people as possible. The channel is named after one of my western Maryland homewaters, the Savage River. Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks for the fun tie, Matt!
I have all those materials, I'll need to make that & give it a try. Thank you for the instructions.
Awesome name...love it matt thanks.
Good to see you back making videos. Sounds like you had a great time . Neat pattern you have there. Kind of resembles a large spider fly or maybe even a steelhead pattern. Pretty cool .
Good morning Matt. That trout is a nice one! My fishing is delayed this year due to an issue with my casting arm. Row tater cuff they say. It's getting better and I'm almost ready to try it but my casts will probably be all soft lobs!
Good morning matt welcome back sleek little streamer there matt tks 😊
Hey Matt! Glad you had a great time in the smokies. I know that area really well, there's a lot of excellent wild trout fishing all around that area without having to get a tribal permit, and less crowded. The N.C. side of the park my be the best side. Enjoyed watching. 👍
Thank you for another streamer! I’m glad you had an all around successful trip, good friends, good fishing, and relaxation.
Good morning Matt. Nice streamer today, enjoyed the video. Glad to hear you had a great trip. Never fished with a 3 wt but I would imagine it would be a lot of fun with a good fish on. One more week on the desert and then headed back north. Already have some fishing planned. Take care and have a great rest of your week.
Welcome back home from your Smokies trip. Looks like it was fun and productive. This fly is simple and looks like a lot of fun to tie. Thanks.
What a beautiful fly! I appreciate you sharing it! Tight lines my friend! 😎🎣
Smallies are crushing these streamer patterns! Thanks for sharing another one. I actually caught the two largest ones on a crawdad fly, but they are all fun to catch. Glad your trip went well.
It's definitely a cool looking fly, Matt. I'm glad you had a great time fishing. I would have loved to have seen you fighting that big rainbow. Maybe next time
Thanks for the video, Matt
Good to have you back Matt! I'll be tying a few of these today. Should be a fun tie.
Nice little streamer pattern!! Thanks for sharing. Tight lines and have a great day.
Pray you had a great time. Nice to have you back. Nice fish!! Love simple. Thx Matt
Nice, I’m adding this to my short list.
Good morning Matt☕️☕️
Nice, and that was a nice fish😉
I will have to try this one! Thanks, Matt, for the tutorial!
Thank you Matt
Cool pattern Matt, especially if you caught two slabs on a similar fly. When I read the name "Don't Ask", then the tiers name Alice, I chuckled and thought of Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit lyric "go ask Alice" 🐰 So I looked up Alice Deaver and her fly to find it was named in the same vein as the Usual 😉. I swear, every time I look up a pattern you've tied it as well as some of it's variants! Great video Matt, glad you're back at the helm 👍Hope you and the family had a Happy Easter!
That was awesome Matt, thanks for sharing , God Bless
I won’t ask, but the fly does show its northwestern influence with those long pheasant tail fibers in the collar.
I’m glad you got some nice fish & got back safely. I wondered about the weather. Every time I checked the weather radar for the Smokies, I saw rain in or near that area, but there didn’t seem to be flood warnings like we had and are still having here in NE. The stream reports looked okay too.
I like it Matt, a nice simple fly. The trip to Lake Okeechobee didn't result in anything but a channel cat and I think a Long Nose Gar. Of of roughly 50 days there I could only fish about 10 due to wind. I don't think I'll go back for the fishing. Keep the good stuff coming.
Great job Matt. Thanks.
Nice little streamer.
Simply effective...nice tie.
Good Evening Sir Matt, I hope your Easter Holiday was awesome. I love the picture. The fly is very cool looking.
On another note I'm sorry to hear about the bridge I don't know how close you are to it but I hope your city is doing well we are praying for your city
Good things 6:13 come from Idaho. 😎 You need to plan a trip out for fall/winter Steelhead, Matt. Great pattern.
Nice Matt. I caught a good Gunpowder brown swinging a Carey Special for fun only the other week!
Looks like you had a successful trip to the Smokies. Which flies worked well?
Also hoping you are home refreshed,....bet you dug deep in your box for that Carey's Special! This one may look a bit like a CS but I think the thicker fibers of the pheasant tail will have a significantly different look and motion in the water from the pheasant rump of CS!
Matt I love this fly but I change it just a little bit I use salmon hook style and egg sack web under the pheasant fibers and wool pink purple and green work the best for lake Superior (north and south shore)
Nice!
Neat
