I think the reason this movie, especially, but all of the related movies are written so well is because they're adapted from an amazing book series. It always helps when you start from quality source material.
There's 3 other movies. Red Dragon is the prequel, Hannibal is the sequel, and Hannibal Rising is Lecter's origin story. Rising got a lot of flack, but I liked it. I appreciated seeing how his character was formed.

There are other films. The sequel “Hannibal” (with Juliet Moore as Clarice) was not a very good film, but the third film in the series, “Red Dragon” was a prequel and was very very good and actually a remake to the 1986 film “Manhunter” (excellent). The TV series “Hannibal” starred Mads Mikkelsen as Lecter and was really very good.

There are a lot of comments mentioning the sequel Hannibal and prequel Red Dragon. There is also Hannibal Rising where you get to see Hannibal as a younger person... what turned him into what he became. All the Hannibal movies are on my repeat list; essentially movies I'll watch any time... especially if I'm ill. I have a handful of movies I'll keep on a loop between periods of consciousness. Thomas Harris, Stephen King and Anne Rice have always been staples in my house. Have the physical novels and audio books which I'll play at night to go to sleep.

Red Dragon is the Prequel and Hannibal is the sequel. Both are AMAZING movies! They did make a show called Hannibal however, I personally am not a fan because they completely change the story from the books. Sociological aspect: The Silence of the Lambs was shot in the late 1980's, which was only when women began entering male-dominated organizations (such as the FBI) in notable numbers. The treatment of Clarice Starling by the other men might be creepy by today's standards, but it was more or less the norm at the time.

Favorite movie of all time! For a laugh look up all the actors that turned down these roles cause they were disgusted by the script lol

    1. Ted Levine/Buffalo Bill got death threats after this was released.
    2. The lisping of Hopkins' tongue after he said, "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti." was put in by him to get a reaction from her since it
was the first scene they did together IRL.
    3. IRL all those guys hitting on Jody Foster i a waste if effort. She doesn't fly that way.
    4. The FBI actually let them use Quantico to film the portions they needed for this film.

It seems like you never saw a movie with Anthony Hopkins before?
If going to watch more Hannibal movies - try "Red Dragon" - it's almost as good as Silence of the Lambs. Edward Norton was great in it. There is also "Hannibal" - which has more Anthony Hopkins, but overall is weaker then the other 2 movies.

You need to watch the Hannibal series, it dives deep into his whole story and background of being a psychiatrist as well as his murders/meals

@ 4:04 You feel dumb? Why Dillon? You asked if it was some kind of police training, so in my book... you guessed it! We consider the FBI over here as "police" too (federal police), so I say you hit that nail on the head. You just didn't see the nail, but you hit it anyway. LOL! @ 9:12 Sorry Dillon, but you haven't seen it all. Not yet! You still haven't watched "Se7en" or "Seven" as it's sometimes spelled. After that, you'll have seen it all man! LOL! Seriously do that one soon. @ 11:40 Keen observation, mate. That's the effect of subjective camera shots (POV), the actor told to look directly into the camera lens. Normally actors never look at the cameras during objective filming otherwise it breaks the illusion of objectivity. The director used both techniques in this film to great affect. @ 24:15 Dillon. Your reaction there is exactly why many people watch reaction videos! LOL! That was awesome. When you're ready for another crime drama like this one, watch "Seven" next. It's not a Lector sequel. It doesn't need to be! Enjoyed the react. ✌️😎

    Suspense/Thriller...not Horror
Btw. Your intro outros have me twerking in the bed. That Harry Potter patronus beat I need that for my ring tone
