  • All things NAD+. We take a deep dive into Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide. With a fresh perspective on raising NAD+ levels.
    We start off with examining just exactly what NAD+ is and how in functions in the human body. We look at many of the enzymes that consume NAD+ and how it gets synthesized…and recycled. Then we’ll discuss the impact that low levels of NAD+ can have on aging humans. And finally, we examine several different strategies for optimizing NAD+ levels.
    Everything you ever wanted to know about NAD+!

    Thanks for the post. I fast daily 16/8, once a week 24 hrs, once a month 72 hrs. Omnivore, zero processed foods, no grains or sugar. Workout 6 days a week raising heartbeat to point of being chased by a hungry lion.
    59 yrs old, checking all the boxes that I can. I think I'm on a good trajectory, definitely noticeable results.

    • @vonheise
      @vonheise 2 месяца назад +1

      I have never been able to claim omnivore status, closer to Atkins due to eating healthy greens like spinach and one or two other low glycemic carbs. I have worked out with weights most of my life after 14, and jogged or ran most of my life along with playing most school and adult league sports. I felt fantastic until my late 60s when I starting having lower back pain. Now at 78, my right shoulder has been replaced, knees are mostly gone, my hips have pain, and when the back pain gets bad enough to motivate me, I will have a rod put in my back. I still go to the fitness center to use the treadmill and do curls and stretches, but when I see someone in mid-years lifting heavy, I advise them to back off to toning only or they will likely destroy their joints.

      @@vonheise i am 63 had back pain for years, tried every supplement, massage device known, 2 things helped a inversion table and most importantly massive dosages of vit d3+k2, research massive dosages of vit d3 and don't believe the bullshit that anything over 1000ius will kill you. i take 20k ius per day as matinence after taking 50k for a couple weeks.

    • @invertage
      @invertage 2 месяца назад

      @vonheise I don't lift heavy, all body weight exercises. Lot can be done with body weight. I can bang out 100 pushups, and do good on a pullup bar. I've been going hardcore on joint maintenance and supplementation. Amino acids like Proline, Hyaluronic acid, and taking collagen peptides. I blew out a meniscus bad, and I've totally healed it.
      I also use an inversion table 15 minutes per day and have totally fixed my compressed vertebrae that was pinching a nerve. I do a lot of stretching daily.
      If you haven't tried collagen peptides, it may help with your joints. I take Vital Protiens 20 grams per day. Read the reviews, it may convince you. My 82 yr old mother takes it too, she hikes in the forest every day for 2 hrs with her dog.
      Best of luck on your health.

    Thanks for this video, you've really synthesized the background well, and I appreciate your new insights and recommendations. I understand you're highlighting the importance of first activating NAMPT and inhibiting CD38 and NNMT before moving on to precursor supplementation, but regarding supplementation, have you ever investigated use of simple nicotinic acid alone as an NAD+ precursor in lieu of NR or NMN?

    • @vonheise
      @vonheise 2 месяца назад +1

      So many have different ideas which are mostly the same: Nicotinic acid (also generally known as niacin) and niacinamide (also known as nicotinamide) are similarly effective as a vitamin because they can be converted into each other within the organism. The blanket term vitamin B(3) is used for both.

    You can take nmn +tmg and quercetin. On the same day, maybe couple of hours after take berberin after a meal. Berberin sevres as ampk activator. One thing to note: quercetin serves as a mild blood thinner. Berberin serves as a much stronger blood thinner. So taking them separately at different times makes more sense. If you take any medications then you have to consider these things to avoid any issues.

      @LanceHitchings  Месяц назад +1

      To the best of my knowledges, there's no data implying that spemidine is a senolytic, and in fact, some that says it's not. Autophagy and the clearing of senescent cells are not similar processes. Autophagy improves cell health and makes them more resistant to apoptosis, programmed cell death. Senescent cells are cleared by the immune system, an entirely different process, after they undergo apoptosis. Which is less likely to occur after autophagy.

You can also use my discount code of LANCE to get it a little cheaper. A new player is partiQlar.com. They're little cheaper than DoNotAge and also third party tested. It is true that high dose niacin can raise NAD levels. However, you should know that high dose niacin has many side effects including increase of pace of aging.
