It takes roughly 1 million blood points to complete a level 50 cycle in the bloodweb. My general reward for a survivor game is about 12,000 BP. New players need blood feasts with how insane this games grind is.
so, as a dbd veteran who has started on release and has been on and off again: No, the game isnt close to dying. Its BHVR executives that demanded very specific things to please stakeholders (and stakeholders often dont realize that better game=more stable growth. Today's stakeholders want to see a steady 7% growth yearly, meaning if a year has 5% growth, they want the next year to be 10% growth). 2023 has arguably been the best QoL year DBD has had since 2019. It also was one of the least profitable years for BHVR, especially with DBD mobile issues that culminated to closing the game down and them investing in games. 2024 was probably predicted to stabalize the income with the release of those games. Except Casting of Frank Stone didnt earn as much money as they hoped and the other games they released(what the fog, island of insight) also didnt really work out. This leads to a very obvious conclusion that BHVR executives kinda forced certain changes to make certain characters more popular and therefor sell more skins that barely got sold. Every single killer released in 2024 has been released in a state that is overtuned for 99.9% of the community, at least 1 perk that is insane on a lot of other killers and have really pushed on the matter that you can buy the characters through their store first rather than on Steam or Epic (there is like, 1 hour delay). My prediction on 2025, which is probably already in motion since there has been a significant dip in players beyond the expected drop that happens in January, is that they will do a TON of QoL before the anniversary. Because when they release the FNaF chapter, they will have a surge thats bigger than the Resident Evil and Stranger Things surges combined. Those players will need to enjoy the game to stick around, so BHVR is going to be forced to make a lot of changes that make a lot of players happy. The game is going to suck untill the anniversary PTB where the first looks into the FNaF chapter are released, which will get massive coverage from FNaF youtubers. And that PTB is going to be golden, otherwise they will lose a lot of potential players. My hopes are, that after that surge, BHVR will effectively give the devs all the freedom for quality updates because that's how they are going to keep the playercount high, the stakeholders will be happy too and we wont have any bad money driven updates untill september 2026.
@@maybekizuati Because stakeholders want to see a return on investment. And modern stakeholders are not really concerned what happens to the product as long as they get what they want. The investments are currently all put into earning as much money for stakeholders as possible. So, lots of skins (if you havent noticed, the average chapter comes with 15 purchasable skins, it used to come with 7 skins that were effectively not much more than a color variant, 3 for killer, 4 for survivor, now its 5 for killer, 10 for survivor). Next to that, every single chapter release, there is a new exclusive cosmetic if you buy auric cells, that didnt exist 2 years ago and is an incentive for players to buy more auric cells. That is what the focus was very clearly on in 2024. They didnt care about what was fun or not (slugging has been hell since early 2023, tunnelling happens because people can, not because they need to and every single killer thats released since late 2022 has a power thats really good to tunnel someone out without any basekit countermeasure that survivors can rely on). So my hope is that in their stakeholder meeting this year, which should have happened about a week ago as most stakeholder meetings happen around the 16th of january (dont know why, I think its due to taxes from the previous year being finalized around the 16th so they have a clear view of how much they earned?), that the stakeholders were happy enough to let go and not threaten to pull out of the project. With BHVR not really working on more than 2 games (there is still a new game set to release in 2025) that SHOULD mean 2024 was highly profitable for stakeholders. Therefor, the hope is that due to extra resources, they can focus on QoL.
if you think stakeholders will be happy or sated? idk what world you live in, but as far as i'm aware the moment these guys are involved it's "make line go up" ad infinitum
I don't really want the game to die because of the history and great moments I had with it but it's also in such a horrible state and so unbalanced/unfun that part of me would feel satisfied if it died. The devs brought this upon themselves and if DBD dies, then so be it because they had it coming for quite some time now. It would be long overdue if you will.
Not even gonna watch the video but just gonna go ahead and say DBD being the only successful Asymm game for almost 10 years has been god awful and i'm so tired of it being infested with slasher villain clones. Say what you want about Evolve but I want the genre to go beyond horror and be bigger in scale. Ive been praying on this games downfall ever since they sanitized all the perks I had fun with.

yeah but with how much investment is given into dbd why arent the player counts rising notably

Yeah. I genuinely really want this game to get better but at this point I don't see it happening :(
Game is after years still full of bugs and glitches
Still the same (converted) blueprint codebase...not even true dedicated servers. Genuinely sad
Let's just get the game into the movie Theater and call it good then
omg, that finnish accent, idk if u are from Finland but your accent sound very finnish
...finnish???
