When Mr Barre steps forward into the spotlight and unleashes his soloing wizardry, every true Tull fan is ecstatic and awestruck. One of my greatest regrets is that I failed to see Tull live in their halcyon period. The whole album Aqualung is sheer timeless brilliance.
I am 43 and really appreciate this masterful performance I could only imagine seeing this live at that time ..must have been a unforgettable experience indeed.
Saw them in 1978 ….one of the best live shows I have ever seen ….the power of their music..didn’t need lights and fireworks ..Barre’s guitar was like a jet engine 🤘🏼
My personal 3rd favorite guitar lead of all time right there. Martin straight kicks ass right there.... they're were so great live, each member so talented. Uber tight
For all the criticisms Anderson got for rehearsing 6 days a week/10-12 hours a day, I’ve never seen or heard one bad performance. That’s still as impressive today (2020) as it was during the 60s and 70s.
Ha I was there @ this show MSG, crazy times in New York City back then do you remember? We were like 15 & got drunk at the Irish bar around the corner McCann's? An older chick was selling bootleg T shirts outside and she gave me like 10 cuz she had to split FAST
What a classic performance of such a classic Tull song......magnificent. Thanks for posting whoever does this. Ian Anderson is such an artist, performer, composer and showman.
I saw them (again) in my hometown two years ago.. and really believe me, they were awesome (especially Ian)..... One of the abolutely greates bands ever...
In the day It was called "Music To Get High By" The Truth Is You didnt need DRUGS The Music Carried You To A New Dimension You Became One With The Lyrics and Rythym Yes An Era, A Sound Never To Be Redone
I seen these guys in about 92 or so....down at the old coney Island park in Cincinnati Ohio...very good ..Ian Anderson is of of the best front guys I have ever seen
The live 1980 version on here rocks the best of all the live ones. Mark Craney kills the drums 🥁 on that entire run, the last chorus comes in so aggressive and tight, please check it out. He also played with Gino Vanelli, BTB album is my fave
Yeah Mark and Martin were both wailing out during the guitar solo section. His drum fills were much more technical and expressive throughout the entire song. Feels a bit empty on this version..
Same concert. I was at the same one to. How did we miss. The important thing is are bragging rights now. See you at the next Jethro Tull concert. In heaven I suppose
Yes. I saw this new DVD release advertised on Ebay a few days ago. It's only available in the U.K. for now. It has previously UNSEEN footage, including stuff like "My God", "Cross-Eyed Mary" and "One Brown Mouse." This release is a result of the big BBC - EMI deal to open up the BBC video vaults which have been closed for YEARS.
While dissapointing that the DVD does not have video footage besides the broadcast, the picture and sound quality of this release is amazing. Best released Tull video available! Stunning! But where is the entire concert??
It took EMI long enough to twig the amount of hits this footage was getting on RUclips. Looks like it will include unseen footage from the broadcast, though. Very exciting!
Though less "forté" than the 1976 live version in my opinion, it still rocked some American socks over there :). Anyone else noticed the part at 2:54 when he spins the uni-directional instrument microphone around, causing the video camera to flip? :P I think everybody's golden in their time. Watching them play today is hardly a shadow of what they used to be. Still, great stuff!
One of the greatest Prog/Rock bands of all time.
+VIDEOHEREBOB THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME!
Pro trick: you can watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching loads of movies lately.
@Waylon Bradley Yea, been using flixzone for since december myself :)
thank you,Jethro Tull, for making this world a better place.Your music has been with me for almost 50 years
What an amazing guitar solo, from Martin Barre.
Maguinifique
Have you ever heard his band? He really shows his full range in it.
One of the best guitar players of all time.
A distintive sound that only Brian May of Queen has, virtuosity!
Martin Barre like Brian May of Queen had such a distictinctive sound the few can copy
17 times I had the privilege to see Tull, never heard this played the same way twice.
Martin Lancelot Barre, most underrated guitarist ever!
WOW so you saw the Beatles 12 times, the Stones 29 times, Van Morrison 23 times, jimi Hendrix 12 times MAN you get around!
It’s a flawless album without a single bad moment on it
@@rightchordleadership Agreed
How many cigarettes did I bring along?
Ian Anderson is a perfect mixture of Cocker, Jager, and Einstein, in ONE man..♥
Great description 🧐🤔👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
With a little Shakespeare as well.
Ian Anderson is the most amazing musician I have ever seen. Tull concerts were an attack on every sense.
I am 43 and really appreciate this masterful performance I could only imagine seeing this live at that time ..must have been a unforgettable experience indeed.
I wish there were more bands like this nowadays.
+Jared Morse what about Adele and Justin Beiver? LOL I hate all the new music
+Jared Morse Magnum is still around.
Polaris589 Yea...
Just in my dreams
"Sitting In the park bench!" Oh wait....that's another song right? Is it this song? I can't remember.
What a fantastic song and a great performance.
And a great lead guitarist in the band too !! :)
Barre none!
Tull were one of the most under rated bands of all time. They were simply brilliant! Great music great energy great words
Why do you say underrated? In the 70’s they were the biggest band in the world. More popular than the Stones
Uber tight
I love the arrangement of Tull songs and there is no other like them.
that Martin Barre guitar solo is awesome
Ascoltai questo pezzo che avevo 16 anni, mi emozionò tantissimo e dopo 20 anni vederli dal vivo è stata un emozione ancora più bella.
I first saw them at The Fillmore East on the This Was Tour ! See The Martin Barre Band live !!!
I love all the solos in this music, all the versions.
6 times I saw him!!!!!!! HELL YES!!!!!!❤
once you are into this .. it just gets better each time
I was at this concert! It was amazing. Tull put on the best concerts.
For all the criticisms Anderson got for rehearsing 6 days a week/10-12 hours a day, I’ve never seen or heard one bad performance. That’s still as impressive today (2020) as it was during the 60s and 70s.
I was there ! The decade of the greatest live acts at the Garden !
Ha I was there @ this show MSG, crazy times in New York City back then do you remember? We were like 15 & got drunk at the Irish bar around the corner McCann's? An older chick was selling bootleg T shirts outside and she gave me like 10 cuz she had to split FAST
Among the greatest opening riffs and lyrics of all time !!
I was there, leather wine pouch, tie died shirt and denim jacket. All i was missing was "Salvation alamode and a cup of tea!"
me too
Now that's what I call a frontman.
Masterpiece about a homeless man. All his music is so unique, no silly love songs..
What a classic performance of such a classic Tull song......magnificent. Thanks for posting whoever does this. Ian Anderson is such an artist, performer, composer and showman.
excellent! and the guitar solo riffs, too!
GREAT PERFORMANCE OF MARTIN BARRÉ..AMAZING GUITAR SOLO
How can they not be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Saw them at the Fillmore East right after this came out.
This is actually... a pretty great live performance... The feeling and the energy is unbeliavable.
Martin "Lancelot" barre on guitar, hell yeah!!!
I saw this tour in Nashville in '78. One of the best mixed concerts I ever attended. Martin Barre played an Ibanez explorer.
What an amazing show by Ian Anderson and the lead by Martin Barre is second to none.
I saw them (again) in my hometown two years ago.. and really believe me, they were awesome (especially Ian).....
One of the abolutely greates bands ever...
Thank you very much for posting. This band is bloody brilliant.

Watching as the frilly panties run--works for me! Loved Tull since the late
60's.. Go Ian!!
His facial expressions are pure gold
The live 1980 version on here rocks the best of all the live ones. Mark Craney kills the drums 🥁 on that entire run, the last chorus comes in so aggressive and tight, please check it out. He also played with Gino Vanelli, BTB album is my fave

Fantastic
While dissapointing that the DVD does not have video footage besides the broadcast, the picture and sound quality of this release is amazing. Best released Tull video available! Stunning!
But where is the entire concert??
Now I have to go look-up the lyrics. Thanks for pointing this out - it's still an awesome song.
Great Martin Barre!!!!

Ian Anderson has wonderful comedic sensibilities...along with many other great qualities of course.
The most underrated guitar player martin barre

I,m 57 years old, been through all the best of the best-Martin has to be in the top beside Clapton and Mark Knopfler-I know I'm missing 10 others.

Oh, by the way,

Hes great!
It took EMI long enough to twig the amount of hits this footage was getting on RUclips. Looks like it will include unseen footage from the broadcast, though. Very exciting!
It’s a disgrace that Tull isn’t in the RR HOF and zest Stevens is. Ian Anderson was a great frontman totally entertains and talented
Who is zest stevens?
GREAT
Best of best
Though less "forté" than the 1976 live version in my opinion, it still rocked some American socks over there :). Anyone else noticed the part at 2:54 when he spins the uni-directional instrument microphone around, causing the video camera to flip? :P
