One thing to mention that when at an outpost and if you're not in a rush, there are lootboxes in the different buildings that you can pick up food, drink, armor, clothes, etc. I even found a very nice Greycat backpack at one.
same with box missions; you can earn more money doing other stuff, but it is very calming and you get to know all the stations; always good to know where landing pads to repair, pulling ground veh, etc. are...!
I like the chill experience and industrial gameplay as much as the next but I also need real developed game systems not this cobbled together crap. Roleplaying is not my thing so we need gameplay.
I don't tend to haul around Hurston as much as I do other places, but that's mainly due to personal preference and style, and a personal grudge against the Hurstons in general, and Lorville in particular - the weather on the approach to the place means the visibility on approach is almost always nasty, although it does lack the wind around New Babbage so it's not quite as dangerous. A couple of tips I think I can add for you and your viewers: (1) You can avoid scraping the nose in the Herc most easily by tipping yourself up at the end of your approach. If you're aligned right at the landing pad, you'll have no eyes at all on your pad, but if you keep your instruments reading between 0 and +5 degrees, you'll be level enough to set down. If you level off like this and you CAN still see the pad you're aiming for, you're too far back. Remember, your bridge is well above and forward of where your landing gear are. (2) In my personal opinion, it's never a good idea to leave an elevator down while you're at a cargo console in a building. Even when you're just trading at a spot with a good armistice zone, that lowered lift is a target for stowaways. It might seem like it slows down your run by a few seconds, but that's a few seconds when your ship interior is vulnerable to someone, and that someone can pop you in the back of the head as soon as you're a couple of clicks in the air on your way home. (3) If I can, I try to follow a couple of rules with regard to hauling. First is, as you demonstrated, always bring a full load back to your trading point if you can. Empty space in your hold still costs fuel to move, and offers zero return on your investment. Second, though, never put all your worth in one hold if you can help it. There are all kinds of ways for other pilots, or just the rigors of space travel, to eat a ship along with an entire hold's worth of goods. If you're on the cautious side, you might only put half of your credits' worth of cargo in the hold at any given time, so even if you lost it you've still got enough scratch to recover. Even if you're into taking more risks, though, I'd seldom advise putting more than 75% of your worth into a single load. (4) Remember that profitability is based as much on percentage as it is on the value of the cargo you're carrying. Laranite and its cousin Agricium are appealing because they've got a significantly higher value per unit than other cargo, but the margin you make on them isn't always the best, especially if you can't afford a lot of it at once. This often means that if you're working with five or si figures' worth of cargo-hauling money instead of millions, trading something else with a higher percentage will bring you more return on your investment than. This is why a lot of haulers with big holds but lower starting researchers haul scrap, chlorine, or astatine instead - every UEC they're spending has to count as much as possible, and these products, while a lot cheaper, return more per UEC spent when sold. Until you get to a threshold where any given cargo isn't passing your personal "maximum investment" limit, it's probably worth looking at the percentage more than the value. -- And, in an out-of-character sense, cargo hauling tends to be the most profitable when there's some aspect of it (new trade kiosks, legal cargo, etc.) that need to be tested heavily to iron out the bugs, as the developers want/need as many people as possible performing the activity so they can get the best look. I would expect the 3.18 cargo refactor to come with a moderate boost in the profitability of trade, so they can see how it affects the time taken on any given run, and work on any trouble that comes from cargo elevators, etc., I would not, however, expect that profitability boom to be permanent, however, or to last more than a few patches.
Love me some cargo hauling, very relaxing after a stressful workday. Nice video. If I had one thing to change about this gameplay loop overall its running to the trading console in the big planetary locations. Its like the captain of a container ship has to make a trip to wallstreet to sell his cargo. It makes sense on small frontier outposts but a location like Lorville couldnt survive without cargo personel and automated processes. Id gladly take a cut of up to 5% to save me that trainride everytime
That is actually an even more interesting idea than I first realised - you could essentially have 2 gameplay loops from that: cargo trading, and 'commodity trading' - the difference between hauling cargo, and market speculation!
Love the how-to format and Thanks for showing me another cargo route to run. I’ve just been hauling scrap. I look forward to seeing some more routes and other how-to’s
I watch a lot of star citizen content on RUclips, but yours are some of my favourites, simply because they are the most relaxing and atmospheric. I'm not a trader, but I enjoyed that video, the music in it, and the immersive first person landings.
Great video - this was immensely enjoyable and relaxing to watch. I've never tried my hand at space trucking and don't own any big cargo ship yet. And it's kinda weird how even ERT bounties feel like the smaller risk compared to running trade goods. At least I practically never meet people who seem to be outright offended by the fact that solo players can make good cash too. More of this please!
You have started a new series with these gameplay loops. It's brilliant, a great addition to tutorials. Also the new soundtrack is great. I still prefer the c2 to the m2. Better cargo and enough firepower to at leats get out of trouble. The extra turret just doesn't do it for me. I really would like to know your experience in landing on a Microtech moon. at night in a storm. Because having a storm at night just blows everyship away! 100I gone. Andromeda gone. 600I and hercules obviously gone. Also Carrack, all flying away like bouncy castles full of children in a bad funniest homevideos clip... storms by day are good: engage vtol, turn off engines BUT don't cut all of the power (just engines). Anyway, dealing with spirits does bring more profits and also a slower route...if your ship doesn't run off in a storm.
@@crackedjabber Yes. X4 has a system wher3 you have to place satellite probes in the system to scan prices. Manually check them as they change. Prices change depending on stock at the location. They had a special computer extension you could put on your ship to facilitate price checking required reaction, planning and strategy cause higher prices are lucrative, some other ship might land ahead of you and make the sale.
Farrister, demonstrating yet again how good he is at making engrossing videos. A cargo run is a step or two up from watching paint dry, but same vibes. Yet I still watched the whole video. Good job, buddy.
If you prefer first person view, try landing in decoupled mode. Usually when you switch to decoupled, ship drops down due to gravity, but if landing gear is out, thrusters compensate for gravity and still maintain movement vector. So you can limit your speed, set direction marker streight to the landing pad, align the ship to the horison and wait for it to land smoothly.
Expensive purchase of that Laranite, but nice profit. I enjoy hauling cargo. I started using the Cutlass Black, jumped up to the Freelancer Dur, then graduated the Constellation Aquila, and finally to the Freelancer Max. I picked up the Max when I found out it could carry more than the Aquila. I also use the Mercury Star Runner even though it doesn't haul as much as the Max. Honestly speaking, the MSR is one of my favorite ships, so I use it a lot. To be honest, I could get away with hauling cargo in my Carrack as it has a bigger capacity than the Max, but it's a beast to fly and I'm going to reserve it for Exploration. I can also make more money mining and it's probably safer. No initial investment to buy cargo. Thanks for the review and video of you in your M2. I enjoyed it. Take care my friend, fly safe, and I'll see you in the verse.
Your videos are always a treat to watch. Really hoping against hope that cargo refractor adds physical real world weight to SCU containers and effect flight models.
If you are a experienced player; you can do that…. In this case he left it open because he wants to Safe time (the elevator from the Hercules takes time).
@@RAVPower- yeah. It does happen sometimes even at planetary locations that some random will appear whilst you're there though so there's always a risk. The other day I took my cutlass black to a wreck site and as I was inside looking for boxes, some other guy showed up in his own cutlass and landed it right next to mine. I'd had my ramp down the whole time so he probably could've nicked all my stuff if he wanted. He was friendly, but now I'm a little more careful just in case.
Now I just hope they make cargo run missions. Get the goods from point A to point B (and beyond). Get paid. Could be legal to rather smuggler. Akin to Firefly. No random look for trade goods to buy/sell. The cargo refactor is going to change this drastically, in terms of time, either way.
@Farrister I appreciate the video. Thank you. I have an issue I’d like to address here. I’m new to cargo hauling. I’ve tried it several times over the years, but I’ve always struggled with a couple of things. 1. Every time I try to offload my cargo, the buyer won’t take my full load (4600 units). People always tell me not to worry, because you can sell the rest in 10-mins, but I found that isn’t the case. I wait and wait and wait some more - selling double digit amounts every 10-mins. It took me so long to offload my cargo, after an hour I only got 1500/4600 units sold, and had to go to bed. Will try again tomorrow. This always happens to me. I can deliver boxes faster than cargo hauling. I’m yet to find a RUclipsr who shows this side of cargo hauling. 2. In your video, you just went straight to Lorville. I didn’t see you check any prices to figure out what prices Lorville was buying at. Should I always go to a major city, or is there a website that will give me real time data? You mentioned a site. Was that how you knew Lorville was buying at a higher price?
Selling to major space ports helps with the first issue (eg if you sell to ArcCorp Area 18, they usually buy a full load). I didn't know the prices that Lorville was buying, but I knew broadly from the buy price that I'd get a decent sell price. Historically there have been sites out there, but I'm yet to find a good one since we got variable prices (rather than back in the old days when we had fixed prices!)
Well one thing you can do, if you're so inclined. You 1st buy your cargo, then loot the outpost, then buy more cargo. It is a bit of a double edge sword, But it may allow you to fill up on the best stuff & add extra stuff to sell for added profit!
M2 Herc drivers represent! I 100% agree with you and chose the M2 over the C2 with no regrets. Thank you for showing this very chill and relaxing game loop. It's profitable, fun (to me anyway), and there's more nuance involved than people think - since there's a lot of... well, logistics involved! Knowing what's worth hauling, where it's available, how much you're likely to get at what times of day, what alternate commodities you can and should get, how much money you have invested, how much you'll make, and balancing the Risk, Profit, and Time spent doing it all!
@@Farrister Well, it's like the old saying goes. Amateurs study tactics, Professionals study logistics! SC already has a robust logistics simulation running behind-the-scenes, and it's only gonna get bigger and more complex. I think when Pyro comes out, we're gonna see logistics become a much, MUCH bigger deal in-game. All those PVPbro players who just fight their way through the game are gonna have to think long and hard about where and how they're gonna get their food, fuel, munitions, medical care, and parts. Those honkin' 88k quantum tanks and military grade armor/shields on the M2 are gonna look mighty attractive to people running cargo out in the deep black, out of range of anyone or anything.
Not sure if you were just going for full immersion, but every time you turned the engines off I was wondering why you didn't use the "I" key (eye, not ell). Otherwise, quite loved the video. This was all the stuff I wished I had known for my first few cargo hauls.
I think cargo running could do with missions as well. For example bringing 8-96 SCU of an item to a specific place for much more profit than you would usually get on that item. Would allow smaller ships to have profitable cargo gameplay and maybe you could level up a reputation by completing them and get a discount on buying bulk cargo. There should also be rare cargo that you can get which would light you up as a pirate target, but with much higher profit margins. Something like an MSR could be the meta for running that as it’s high speed would be advantageous. This could also be good for smaller ships. The refactor could also add different types of cargo with something like the RAFT being good for short hop regular runs between places with containers and a Cat being better for longer haul.
Really enjoyed this video a lot as well as the music. I don’t trade in expensive commodities since it’s hard to fill up in one spot without waiting. I found a place to trade something cheaper on the same moon and takes maybe 10 minutes round trip. I make about 40,000 per trip.
Love the loop design, but with 30k's, and a heavily nerfed payout...I'm keeping my fingers crossed the cargo refactor in 3.18 breathes some new flavour into the system PS: The tip I was given for landing my Hercules without tipping forward, was to land with the ramps pre-deployed. The front ramp keeps everything nice and tidy on the landing pads =)
Running cargo is definitely for the personal experience and not just the profit. I often just fill up on hydrogen or fluorine and sell to whatever space station I land at just for the hell of it. Hopefully they get some sort of economy model working to give purpose to all the commodities in some way.
The biggest gripe I have with SC trading is the stupid glare on the trading consoles (like EVERY SINGLE non-vertical console)! Seriously, did they angle the light position so the glare is smack dab in the middle of your screen on purpose?!
As always, thank you for sharing. I believe speeding up and deleting the necessary time in travel is a wise choice. Additionally, I did not see the video where you chose the M2 over the C2 -, so I will have to go watch this video next. I think that in the future, if you (or any other content creators that are watching this) mention another video, you could/should link it to the current one. It helps them and @Farrister with more content being managed; cheers.
Oh I thought I put it in the "cards" at the top when I mentioned that! So as I say "I made a video on this", it should pop up on top of the video with "Suggested: abcde"
Landing C2 in a scraping motion of the nose It is useful when you have a lot of cargo. and have to disembark the ship to sell in an area where other players are nearby. Nobody will be able to enter the ship's elevator via jumping. And you can enter the ship just by opening the front ramp.
Ah, Laranite. I still remember when back in I think it 9.7 or 9.8, I wanted to test shipping that a few times (this was at the height of the Laranite craze when each server still had its own stockpile of resources and with relatively quick refresh times). So I took a Caterpillar to Arial (only isane people went for Meyers on Cellin as there were always people fighting there because of the short distance to Ollisar), and went to buy some Laranite. !,5 mil of accidental buyout later (I kind of forgot what ship I was flying and instead of taking a small batch, I took everything and went "Oops!"), I stared making my way to Ollisar to sell it. And lost everything to a server crash (good old 30k). Didn't much bother with the stuff after that, as I found a much more relaxing little route from Yela to Olissar with some other resources that I did for a while before they changed the resource pools to be universal and the refresh times got longer. Still, that was an interesting learning experience. ...might have to dust off the RAFT or one of the loaner C2s (don't ask) and see if that old route still works...
im gonna buy a cutter and do cargo runs when i buy the game (hopefully soon if i get this job) and im so excited!!! ive always liked being a cargo guy in games i play
If you have trouble finding Arccorp's starport, search for the one tall building with a very bright pink light. Once you find it, your destination is right behind it.
the profits of cargo hauling are so small because of the limited availability of high-profit goods in-game and CIG really has to increase the margins or implement more stock and goods types to make this viable once cargo refactor is live.
Hi, may I ask which record settings (quality settings) you used? It looks very crisp and usually youtube downgrade the bitrate a little bit. I am just curious 🙂
I record the footage via GeForce Experience, then edit in Premiere Pro. Exporting via Media Encoder, it's H264 2-pass with a target bitrate of 100Mbps. For the 4K videos like this one, I do software encoding - it takes a lot longer, but the end result seems to process better in RUclips studio.
@@FarristerThank you for that. I have an AMD card and also record with 100Mbps, H265, good quality but not so crisp like your videos. Maybe I will try another encoder.
I miss heard "Stable" when you said "Staple", lol... The amount of aUec i have lost due to crash to desktop and 30k in no way balances out against the amount gained. It's a gamble and the house always wins!
Planetary hauling is frustrating, especialy large landing zones and repeatitive and completly boring time sinks, that they come with. However, I'm looking forward Hull C+ and station to station hauling. This is going to be true space trucking experience.
Hopefully that makes for more variety too between cargo ships, eg maybe the station to station hauling has a lower margin than planet to station hauling, meaning you choose the appropriate ship for different runs?
It's more that people don't care to break into your ship, some people just try to destroy other ships on sight. So when I'm hauling valuable cargo, it's not worth getting tangled up in that
Personally i find the main issue with hauling is the profit margin when your not running something that can keep you in the black, it can be very difficult esp for newer players to find routes and valuables. Do love the vids thou.
Absolutely, although the margins will be the same, the actual profit will be lower since you carry fewer goods. But can still make decent money doing it.
Space trucking is a fun and relaxing profession. Too bad the profit isn't all that good, especially for the risk you take. And I'd love to use the Hull A but the only ships you can make a decent profit are the big ones, Caterpillar and Hercules. Maybe small ships will get a purpose with the cargo refactor.
Have you tried multiple medium-to- high-value runs between orbital/Lagrange stations and/or moons and main ports? That seems to be what CIG has planned as the main niche for ships like the Hull A, though that probably won't be fully realized until the quantum system is in.
I generally don’t care for cargo running because it isn’t really worth doing unless you have a huge ship. However, blockade running during XT lockdown is a lot of fun. Get up to speed and kill all power and drift to the station and hope you don’t get seen. I do wish station defenses were stronger so the fighting would take place away from the station instead of players just charging in and ignoring the station defenses because they aren’t up to snuff to take them out.
Did you say the elevator was a secure way to get in and out of the ship so nobody can run on?? With that 10 second raise and lower time, my sweet granny can steal this ship if not cause you trouble with wanting to get back on lol.
@@Farrister ah! so you use a 2nd pc to stream. You are the first person who has replied back to me. But could you tell me about your 2nd pc ? Is it an AMD ? are you using the CPU or GPU to steam with on it ? Also do you use web cam to show your self while playing or any overlay video ? I am thinking of streaming myself but i find it hard to get info on this sorta thing. I take it the 9900k is to slow to do this on its own ?
@@flyingdragoncar4975 at the moment, no. I have a 12th gen Intel i5, and a productivity GPU, they both get used. But I don't stream often, don't have a lot of fancy stuff set up for it xD
With 3.18 and both the Cargo Refactor and PES incoming, there will be respective changes to certain game play loops. While both Pes and the Cargo Refactor are (mostly) backend items with little to no front end presence, some things about them are going to get old REALLY fast! Take trading and hauling (the very subject of this video!!) you will still be able to buy, transport and sell Cargo, but this time the Cargo is permanently PHYSICALISED. Now here's the thing, and why the Refactor will get old very quickly. You will either be mostly trading in time or money. Say you buy enough Cargo to fill your M2, now you will have a choice, load the Cargo YOURSELF (and extend your time on the pad ) saving money, or hire pad crew, or Cargo Stevedores to load your Cargo for you (saving time but costing you money) and then fly to where you want to sell the Cargo. At your destination you can go sell your Cargo, where again you will have the same choice: unload the Cargo YOURSELF thus saving money but extending time on pad, or hire Cargo Stevedores or pad crew to unload it for you, thus saving time but spending coin. Taking the buying and selling prices, plus the fuel costs, and the hiring costs at both ends, will there be enough to make a viable profit? Also I believe we are going to see the first hints/steps in Ship Maintenance in 3.18 with (no doubt) financial costs (parts etc) attached as part of the gameplay loop for maintenance. So there is a lot to work out in 3.18 with regard to Trade, Hauling, Mining and Salvage as professions and viable earners of much needed aUEC. Not forgetting all the other earning loops such as Box Deliveries, Bounties, Piracy etc. Respectfully Yours, R
@@Farrister Oh I agree, it seems to me that 3.18 will be ambitious in scope and scale. But that really just tells me that (in order to get it all running as intended) there will be a 3.18.1 and perhaps a 3.18.2 patch. So I will be keeping my expectations in check.
You shouldn't fly directly to Hurston (or any other major planet) from a known trading post. Fly somewhere else for a few seconds and then towards your Destination to avoid getting pulled out of Quantum.
@@Farrister If you watch videos of the known (and well organized) pirate groups you can see that they set up their traps mostly along the direct routes. Well... or they catch you before you are able to leave the outpost... nothing you can do against that besides bed-logging right after loading Cargo and starting your trip on another Region. But you're never really safe. ^^ ... But little detours at least avoid Quantum traps. :)
Hauling is really missing some key market components even in a most basic form. The aspect that a commodity sells the same at all planet capitals is weird. There should be at least a little difference. Selling Laranite at Loreville should be less profitable than selling it at New Babbage. That would encourage longer trips and not just "which route is the fastest". You don't need a fully actualize market to set rules like that in place.
...is it me or did the elevator just went through the metal floor and outside...?! Also...the elevator seems to not be attached to anything as it comes outside the ship. To me, this breaks immersion ...how is the elevator connected to the ship ?! SUre, you could argue its some futuristic elevator, based on anti gravity bla bla...but c mon! Have the rails extend with the elevator damn it
It's dead simple to not tip under or over by obeying a simple rule any pilot virtual or real should obey. Watch the darn horizon, you're not going to see through the floor no matter how hard you stare :D
In many ships, yes, but for the Hercules because the weight distribution is so unusual, carrying any forward momentum whilst landing makes it susceptible to the telltale wobble!
@@Farrister Admittedly i have not flown the Hercules so i'll defer to your judgement, simply have not had that experience with any other ship to date, hence my skepticism :)
@@RiversJ for the most part, I don't think it impacts other ships. Constellation series to some degree can have a little 'wobble'. It's to do with the gear being so far back versus the centre of mass, and the fact that usually ships have some forward velocity when landing. Vertical landing solves the problem (arresting all forward momentum before landing). Long explanation xD
Just hope you dont crash or run into a random bug when doing your cargo run.. or all your money is gone.. had it happen way to much so its a bit to much of a risk really.. if it was not for that then its a nice quiet way to make money..
It is so infuriating and unrealistically dumb that the trade terminals are placed so far away from any space port. It's like if in real life a freighter is docked and the captain must travel 2 hours to the other end of the city to sell stuff.
@@Farrister Well sure but I work at an online shop and in their logistics centre time is always money. The lorry driver buying snacks or whatever would never yield enough profit to justify dawdling or absurdly long walks to unload cargo. They can buy food afterwards anyway. The same surely holds true for giant freight ships in any contemporary harbour.
@@Farrister If you store the ship with cargo onboard, and then a few days later need to unload (or after cargo refactor/personal hangar storage) I should be able to see what do I have onboard. Learned today that people will wait for you to land spend all your money then blow up your ship from outside the zone...and you can't do anything about it

A couple of tips I think I can add for you and your viewers:
(1) You can avoid scraping the nose in the Herc most easily by tipping yourself up at the end of your approach.

Thanks, you too Zman! o7
Thanks Chris, noted!
Glad you enjoyed! I can't say I've experienced those problems in my Hercules, although I do mostly use the VTOL mode for landing...
I hope in the full game pricing is dynamic. That way people don't just check the internet for "The Uber run"
At least a full economy is being planned & worked on. What we've seen to date was quite promising. :-)
As long as there some way to know what the prices are in approximately real time, I would love a dynamic pricing system.
I hope so - it certainly seems to be the ambition of the devs too. And more locations means way more variety in routes too!
Farrister, demonstrating yet again how good he is at making engrossing videos. A cargo run is a step or two up from watching paint dry, but same vibes. Yet I still watched the whole video. Good job, buddy.
Ah thanks Ogi
If you prefer first person view, try landing in decoupled mode. Usually when you switch to decoupled, ship drops down due to gravity, but if landing gear is out, thrusters compensate for gravity and still maintain movement vector. So you can limit your speed, set direction marker streight to the landing pad, align the ship to the horison and wait for it to land smoothly.
Ooooh I'll have to try that, thank you!
Thanks Koron, usually I'm the same, make money mostly through mining, but still it's nice to change things up from time to time!
Your videos are always a treat to watch.
Really hoping against hope that cargo refractor adds physical real world weight to SCU containers and effect flight models.
It sure will but it will also take (tons of?) time to load and unload...
@@luftwolf7405 I'm actually fine with that. Since I don't own large ships, I think it may give me some edge.
Thank you, I'll be interested to see what we actually get in 3.18
Never leave the doors of your ship open mate or lifts down in this case. Some guys just can't resist to steal your ship...
yeah can confirm. As someone who tries to do it occasionally
If you are a experienced player; you can do that…. In this case he left it open because he wants to Safe time (the elevator from the Hercules takes time).
Usually agreed - this was a calculated risk!
I elevator Exit, elevator lower deck, before it even starts moving down
@@RAVPower- yeah.
Yup, there is huge potential for the future!
@@Farrister Thank you for the explanation.
Very informative! Just bought the Hercules. Right now I´m learn how to operate the ship before heading out.
Thank you!
Enjoy!
Well one thing you can do, if you're so inclined. You 1st buy your cargo, then loot the outpost, then buy more cargo. It is a bit of a double edge sword, But it may allow you to fill up on the best stuff & add extra stuff to sell for added profit!
Worth a try!
Most therapeutic watch, Love your videos.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed :)
Man you're really selling me on this cargo hauling life xD M2 solidarity
You hit the nail on the head, there's something quite satisfying about pressing the switch xD Probably an old DCS World habit
That would be cool, also missions like "I need somebody to transport this Tumbril Cyclone from A to B"
@@Farrister yeah, or you could even do it where you’re transporting the entire ship and you can pick up some cargo in it on the way for extra profit
Loved this, thanks for doing these!
Glad you like them!
Really enjoyed this video a lot as well as the music. I don’t trade in expensive commodities since it’s hard to fill up in one spot without waiting. I found a place to trade something cheaper on the same moon and takes maybe 10 minutes round trip. I make about 40,000 per trip.
Sounds like a good one!
Love the loop design, but with 30k's, and a heavily nerfed payout...I'm keeping my fingers crossed the cargo refactor in 3.18 breathes some new flavour into the system
PS: The tip I was given for landing my Hercules without tipping forward, was to land with the ramps pre-deployed. The front ramp keeps everything nice and tidy on the landing pads =)
Ah that's probably a good tip for landing well, although I'd be worried about security :D
Running cargo is definitely for the personal experience and not just the profit. I often just fill up on hydrogen or fluorine and sell to whatever space station I land at just for the hell of it. Hopefully they get some sort of economy model working to give purpose to all the commodities in some way.
That's a healthy attitude to have, as always Andy!
Sometimes it just seems like too much work to try all these things, so thanks for giving us a feel for the various gameplay options available.
No problem, happy to :)
The biggest gripe I have with SC trading is the stupid glare on the trading consoles (like EVERY SINGLE non-vertical console)!
Seriously, did they angle the light position so the glare is smack dab in the middle of your screen on purpose?!
I never really considered it but you're absolutely right lol
Interesting!
Lovely. More of this, pretty please o7
Noted, thank you :)
Nice video as usual, thanks!
Thank you :)
Love the vid... thx, even the "Top Tier Elevator Gameplay®"
Haha thanks, best elevator gameplay you'll see all day? :D
Ahhhh those 30k days :(
im gonna buy a cutter and do cargo runs when i buy the game (hopefully soon if i get this job) and im so excited!!! ive always liked being a cargo guy in games i play
If you have trouble finding Arccorp's starport, search for the one tall building with a very bright pink light. Once you find it, your destination is right behind it.
Oh I'll have to try that!
Lovely to see the lift is still bugged
Always lol
nice and clean show of a cargo run.
(Hercules swan nose dipping is all too common)
Haha yup!
the profits of cargo hauling are so small because of the limited availability of high-profit goods in-game and CIG really has to increase the margins or implement more stock and goods types to make this viable once cargo refactor is live.
Yup...
I like to run cargo between moons. The cities do yield more profit, but I think the atmosphere and train time savings are worth it.
Game exists to have fun with!
I miss heard "Stable" when you said "Staple", lol... The amount of aUec i have lost due to crash to desktop and 30k in no way balances out against the amount gained. It's a gamble and the house always wins!
haha, I've found it not too bad of late, previous patches though...
This is therapeutic
Glad you enjoyed :)
you could go into 3rd person when landing to avoid scraping the nose.
Yup, although I quite enjoy the immersion of flying first person!
With landing nose heavy ships I find the slightest and I mean the slightest reverse helps
Interesting!
Planetary hauling is frustrating, especialy large landing zones and repeatitive and completly boring time sinks, that they come with. However, I'm looking forward Hull C+ and station to station hauling. This is going to be true space trucking experience.
Hopefully that makes for more variety too between cargo ships, eg maybe the station to station hauling has a lower margin than planet to station hauling, meaning you choose the appropriate ship for different runs?
well, I'm watching this video while I mine for quantanium - so yeah, watch YT videos while you play Star Citizen!
Haha yup!
How is it that ships are so easy to break into, that sounds crazy, that just cause you see someone else you leave.
Especially with smaller cargo bay, it can be difficult, I do agree.
can i do this with Connie Andromeda with 1 mil bank?
you should be able to. H2 has 696 cargo and full laranite costs like 1.7mil. the connie should be 1/7 of that in terms of price.
Absolutely, although the margins will be the same, the actual profit will be lower since you carry fewer goods. But can still make decent money doing it.
@@Farrister ty
wow, i've never managed to find that much laranite available ever - its always about 83k worth or on rare occasions up to 230k
Sometimes it's luckier than other times
I listen to podcasts when I'm playing
Launch Sequence Podcast by SpaceTomato is great!
@@Farrister and may I suggest to you x minus one it's an old sifi radio program they use to run back in the day
Yup had my tail pinched by hangar doors a few times
Yup... lol
I'm so excited to get some Hull A time once it's available for in-game purchase!
Have you tried multiple medium-to- high-value runs between orbital/Lagrange stations and/or moons and main ports? That seems to be what CIG has planned as the main niche for ships like the Hull A, though that probably won't be fully realized until the quantum system is in.
I love the train ride though ^^
Ah sorry :P
Land the Hercules in tiny bit of reverse and the nose won't hit the ground/landing pads.
Good tip, thank you!
Oooooh sneaky!
I always use 3rd person to land, that helps
But muhhhh immersion.....
Yup, after work I’m gonna exchange my Cutty for the Freelancer. Cargo is just so cool to me. I suck at dog fights so that’s outta the question
Just gotta do what you enjoy
@@Farrister its been fun but I got picked up by a MSR I believe, I fell in love. Now when that comes out that’s gonna get copped o7
Did you say the elevator was a secure way to get in and out of the ship so nobody can run on?? With that 10 second raise and lower time, my sweet granny can steal this ship if not cause you trouble with wanting to get back on lol.
Haha it's more difficult for people to do it without you knowing than the front or rear ramp
A messy landing is a bit better than crashy landing! 😅
Haha yes!
what was the experience and profit
The profit was 131,613 aUEC, for a risk of 780k aUEC. The experience was... good?

Until I see exactly what things look like, I'll wait to find out. But it'll be interesting to see what we get in 3.18 and beyond
@@Farrister Oh I agree, it seems to me that 3.18 will be ambitious in scope and scale. But that really just tells me that (in order to get it all running as intended) there will be a 3.18.1 and perhaps a 3.18.2 patch. So I will be keeping my expectations in check.
to be fair i ALWAYS bump my connie nose on the ground when landing :)
Haha that's another one that I always scrape too
You shouldn't fly directly to Hurston (or any other major planet) from a known trading post. Fly somewhere else for a few seconds and then towards your Destination to avoid getting pulled out of Quantum.
Oh that's a nice idea!
Tried this for first time, bought 200k of laranite and server 30kd as I take off
Don't you get protection to get that back?
My dream is to play this game in ultra quality❤
It feels pretty awesome!
@@Farrister I agree, this game is a different level
Knowing my luck I’d open the door to the admin terminal and catch a 30k error.
That's fine these days, your ship just goes to storage with all cargo attached!
Agreed! I wonder if we'll see some different dynamics when we get the next system in game
...is it me or did the elevator just went through the metal floor and outside...?!
Also...the elevator seems to not be attached to anything as it comes outside the ship. To me, this breaks immersion ...how is the elevator connected to the ship ?!
SUre, you could argue its some futuristic elevator, based on anti gravity bla bla...but c mon!
Have the rails extend with the elevator damn it
Not just you...
For me trading is a good excuse to just explore places I havnt been to in forever while earning a few credits.
Smart move!
if you ever wanted to know what star citizen is up to these days, cargo hauling. That's it.
haha
I did not even know cargo hauling was a thing
Schon mal was von F4 gehört?
Yes, although I tend to only use it for video work. Mostly I just play the game in first person view :)
Just hope you dont crash or run into a random bug when doing your cargo run.. or all your money is gone.. had it happen way to much so its a bit to much of a risk really.. if it was not for that then its a nice quiet way to make money..
I think it depends, I've found persistence much better these days, so even if I get dropped, my ship is probably still there and cargo fine
It is so infuriating and unrealistically dumb that the trade terminals are placed so far away from any space port. It's like if in real life a freighter is docked and the captain must travel 2 hours to the other end of the city to sell stuff.
It's exactly the sort of thing that corporations would do though, to encourage you to stop and spend money
The C2 needs nose gear...
Would make life easier for me xD
so risking 700k for 100k profits? i wouldnt risk that with the amount of bug deaths i've had recently
I wouldn't be trying it now in 3.18, that's for sure
I'd like to see it in real-time. Just to sample the pace for real.
It was mostly realtime for this, the parts that were accelerated were shown as x8. The un-accelerated clip was 23 minutes and 23 seconds!
