@@AlamoCityFishing I just picked up a Toyota Tacoma 2006 with only 35000 miles I was surprised to find one in that condition I even pay for the carfax report just to make sure
Lucky you! Mine has 180k and has a blown head gasket. How much would you guess they want to change a head gasket on a 4 cylinder 2006 Tacoma? WRONG! $6,000....That's not a typo. SIX GRAND! So much for tacomas being bulletproof!
If you don’t have a magnetic 5/8 socket to get the plug out after you loosen it…just use the old coil. Put it back in the hole and it should grab the top of the spark plug.
At 3:45 what vacuum line is that? I had a shop change my spark plugs and they put in under the bracket that was in front of you then with 2 bolts a few days ago pinching it and I got the P2441 and P2445 codes basically saying the valve was stuck open on my secondary air injection system and the pump was stuck off. I fixed the vacuum line and removed the negative battery cable for ten minutes and the trac off light and check engine light were gone but it still through those codes. Do you think that vacuum line being squeezed shut could of ruined the secondary air injection system pump?
Thank you for going into great detail. Very helpful. Just curious if batter needs to be disconnected, positive or negative. So many steps to remove air handler.
@@AngladaFamilia I'm a total novice, so need to ask, when disconnecting battery, just the negative terminal or both. I can look online, but a little confusing, as what is necessary to prevent possible electrical damage to vehicle when doing repairs. Thank you again for your help!
Thanks Rick - I am just venturing into changing my own plugs (I am 73 and haven't done this for 55 years :)) Anyway, can you tell me what size socket I need for the spark plug?
Information is very helpful I do have a tacoma 2015 I don’t know if it is the same process to do the tuneup can you tell me please thank you appreciate it JO
Was the 5/8" socket magnetic, or did it have a rubber piece in it to grasp the sparkplug porcelain? Also wonder how many miles it had on it, since those plugs look pretty worn out.
I'm looking at getting a Tacoma I was wanting a v6 because I live on a plateau with some hills but alot of the ones I'm seeing has the 2.7 in it I was wondering how the power of the 2.7
It has plenty of power for me, not being a speed demon, and not needing to tow anything, (other than my mountain bike). Mine is manual transmission, so the first 2 gears are a little slow, like an 18 wheeler 😎
@@AngladaFamilia alrighty sounds good to me and yeah I'm not looking for a speed demon or doing any heavy duty towing just enough power to get up the mountains and hills without struggling
@@Cody-gu8li just be sure to get the 4wd models, the low 4 is a godsend in snow and muddy hills. the v6 will get you more towing power, but if you aren't towing, there isn't much need for the bigger engine. My 2007 is hitting 160k this year, it's a M/T so you can really pull more power out of the engine at times.
My 2006 tacomba suddenly had the engine light flashing and running a little rough. The engine light flashes for awhile then stays on a bit and starts flashing again. I hope its not bad news. I don't think it is, but you never know. Anyone had this happen before?? Any ideas?.
Good video. My 2006 Tacoma just passed 540,000 miles😬 and still running like a champ
Damn that’s amazing! I just picked up a 2011 with 125k
Thank you for the great comment. I'm glad it helped. 540K is AWESOME.

DAMN. I guess I'll stop bragging about my 97 tacoma reaching 300,000.

Fantastic video. Super clean no fluff right to the point. Thank you. I think I might have the confidence to dig in there now.
Awesome. Thanks for the positive comment. I am glad it helped and you probably saved several hundred $$
These are good engines.Iron blocks ...forged rods. No power house but will last forever if you keeper'oiled...
Yes sir they are! Thanks for the comment.
You made this so easy I was able to do it in 40 minutes. Thanks a ton!!
Great video thanks for making it simple and easy & if I run into any issues I’ll just refer to your video again 👍🏽

Thanks Rick, this is the exact video I was needing to see before I undertake this endeavor.
I'm glad it helped!
Next week, my dads 2.7L 2011 Taco, thanks for the upload
Thanks for the comment. I hope it saved you some $
Thanks Rick -- I have a 2005 nearing 100k miles. Now I have an excuse to purchase an extender for my ratchet set.
100K...you're just breaking in.
one of the better videos thanks for posting
Thanks for the comment. I hope it saved you some $
It may not save me money but it surely saved me some time. Thanks so much.
Thanks , i needed to know the wrench size, cool video
Thanks for the comments. I hope it saved you $
Thank you for doing this it helped.
Thank you Good work
Thank you! I hope it saved you lots of $
Nice informative video. Was hoping for torque spec on tightening spark plugs.

Would it matter if you put the coils back in different holes, then you originally removed them from?
Good video but NEVER touch the GAP on an iridium plug.
It's a nice and informative video best thing is it's to the point. Thanks for the information
I appreciate that. I hope it helped and saved you some $

I'm glad it helped you. 😎 Some people disconnect the battery. I never have. There are 2 schools of thought on that one.

Disconnect the negative terminal to be on the safe side.
What is the firing order?

Hello, glad to help. It's a 5/8 deep socket, specifically made for the spark plugs.

If it's the 2.7 liter engine it should be.

It's magnetic. I bought the truck used so i don't know how many miles those plugs had.
@@AngladaFamilia So how many miles did the truck have?, just curious , thanks
never mind I see you answered the question later on in the comments, 150,000
How many miles did your Toyota have when you made this video?
If I remember, it had about 150k.

Sounds like an issue with ignition. Plus it's coil. Misfiring. Take it to AutoZone, have them scan it for codes.
Torque specs?? 15 ft, lbs?? Or 20??
