Cricket in Mexican prisons teaching discipline , independence and comradeship.. That is such a good thing. Good to know that an ancient English sport is helping people re start their lives. Soccer is more prevalent in UK now but it does bring out aggression and is fuelled by big money. Let's hope cricket never develops like that. Here in an English village I can still watch a quiet game of skill rewarded by polite clapping, players dressed in white, no razzmatazz. Those were the days! Cricket is now more colourful, more exciting, more of the Indian character but please do not make it like soccer It was a game for gentlemen. We still say, ' That's not Cricket, ' if cheating or something unfair happens in life

Its a perfect sport for prisons. Other team sports like football could be a problem in prisons as the professional sports persons playing football fight a lot and fake injuries, so imagine when the prisoners start fighting or learn to cheat by faking injuries. It would be counterproductive. Rugby etc are not great for prisoners either as these could again lead to fights between them. The last thing the wardens want is a prison riot. A sport like cricket can teach people to respect others, be professional and disciplined. So a perfect sport to reform prisoners by teaching them values they may be lacking which landed in the prison.

What about when they start arguing about if the ball was LBW or not?

@@sarban1653 They dont. Whatever umpire gives is respected. And they were the first to come up with technology for that so there is no room for any argument in professional matches anyway. This technology was then adopted by other sports.

@@sarban1653 You had deleted the comment but I got to see it. No, the argument could not really start because no matter what happens whatever decision umpire gives is supposed to be respected. This is the first and foremost rule of cricket and this is the first thing players have to learn before they event get onto the field. So anyone who gets on the field would already have had at least this much discipline, or they would be unable to play again after they argue. In sports like football it is accepted and considered normal that players could fight with each other and event fight with referee, or cheat by faking injuries and hence they fight and cheat. In cricket the players are expected to be civil and maintain dignity so instances of fights like football are extremely rare and cheating results in loss of respect and loss of face. The last thing a prisoner would want is a loss of respect in that type of environment.

@@sarban1653 Of course people are people, so cheating and fights can still happen but due to the culture of the game its not as much.
