    Nice job. I like the gray color. I did all my plastic also. Including door handles and mirrors. Didn't realize it was pretty easy to remove that rear quarter plastic so I taped mine off to do it. I also didn't use spray paint. I used Rustoleum truck bed spray. Stays pure black with no fade (two summers in), has some texture, and if you ever scuff it, you have virtually no prep work. Knock the edges down with sandpaper and spray over the scuff. The texture hides any imperfections.

    I just used a heat gun on my 2002 xTerra plastic and it worked wonderfully!

    I like that you left the mud flaps off - I removed mine a while ago and sold them on eBay. The Xterra now looks a bit taller because of it.

    I opted to use a trim restorer rather than paint. No masking, no trim removal and seemed to help refresh the trim pretty well. For some items I used Turtle Wax Graphene Black which has a dye in it so I guess that's kind of similar to painting. The rear hatch deck along with the roof top plastics got this whereas I used Turtle Wax trim restorer without a dye for the bumpers and door trims. I know I sound like a turtle wax commercial... they were inexpensive, well rates, easily available and seemed to do a nice job. It did take a couple coats with both products and the graphene can be messy so you need a wet rag handy to wipe up any errant drips. A;; in all I like the results a lot.

    Do you know if these bumper covers are painted flat black from the factory or are they bare plastic? I bought an aftermarket bumper cover for my 2011. Says it comes primed already. Wondering if it needs a coat of plastic paint or can go on the truck out of the box. I didn't recieve it yet. Should be this week.

    So... did you not use a bonder/epoxy etc? You just only used the spray paint for trim? I had mine done at a body shop (wasted money) bc they didn't do it right and it didn't last even a month is why I'm asking. I was going to redo mine myself.

    Hey man, any recommendations for what kind of paint is the best to use? I’m in CT so heat, cold etc plays a big factor. Also does washing the the car flake or take the paint off? Thanks!

    • @turnonandoff
      @turnonandoff 5 лет назад +1

      After you disconnect the battery you will have to reset it. Go to an empty parking lot or vacant straight street. Stop and turn your car off with 100ft straight shot in front of you. Turn it back on and drive straight without turning the wheel. It should stop coming on.
