i like how we're exposed to the playing styles of vai, satch, petrucci, schon and gilbert. it gives us upcoming guitarists a chance to experiment with their creativity and thats how we can create our own sound
@stavsantis uhhh...facts? Steve Vai started playing with Frank Zappa in 1980 (when gilbert was only 14). And Vai replaced (not played along side) Malmsteen in Alcatrazz in 1984, 2 years before Racer X's first album came out.

i love paul gilbert as much as anyone but vai is on a level above him. gilbert has him on fast picking accuracy by far. but as far as musical theory and general knowledge vai is far above most...except maybe guthrie govan lol in saying that i love this . they were/are an amazing band...super musicians
