here is Part 1 if you missed the break down;
• Front Brake caliper re...
I got the inexpensive caliper kit to do this, and it seems that the outer metal retainer when installed is almost the same inner diameter as the piston. Looks like it is going to be a headache getting the pistons in.
Great job Alex gathering courage to take mine apart to paint them.
Great! do be cautious if you decide to put new seals in. those Chinese made parts are different than original. and deform easily
@@AlexPlatacis good tip! ...
Nothing like "Original" 😀👍
Do you have any concern about the air trapped inside the the outer piston of the caliper as there is no return to bleed that half of it, the air will only purge from the bleeder side of the caliper that is going to be behind the piston?
Well, it it was linear I can see your concern but as the air flows to lower pressure the bleeder works fine. After bleeding the brakes, it all worked fine with no sign of trapped air pockets.
Good question though. Sometimes the engineering principles evade me too. I just go with it
@@AlexPlatacis thanks
How did you clean the calipers?
Yeah, I did kinda skip past that between part 1 video and this one. I figured I had enough videos about using phosphoric acid for rust removal. I was cautious this time not to get any in the cylinders. I also used a deburring bit on my pneumatic die grinder to remove some of the really rough casting texture
here is a video where I discussed in detail how I used acid for rust removal. (I advanced it to 3:28 where I talk about that)
