Great video! Taking a step back is one of those things that seems common sense after you do it. Looking at myself from a macro view was a huge win for me a few years, it gave me more perspective and helped me see life through daily habits rather than chasing a goal.
Excellent video; worth the watch! Enjoy your short videos! 1. Observing my patterns. 2. Cultivating my circle of influence. 3. Being a student of life. 4. Taking action when I want to do something (but also taking action when I don’t feel like it.) 5. Listening to and trusting my heart.
When Ronald talks about removing people that aren't making you feel comfortable aka Toxic friends and relationships really is life changing. Before I mentally woke up. I surrounded myself around very toxic people that were making me the same way. But as soon as I mentally woke up I said no I'm not about to let these people pull me all the way down. So I got rid of everyone. And let me tell you that was the best thing I ever did. after I got rid of them I literally felt like weight was took off my shoulders. I felt like a completely new person. and I moved forward with my life. And here I am today pushing toward my dreams. Protect your energy. Also minimize your circle. a problem I had which a lot of teens have was having too many friends.
The nice thing about habits is that once they are established, you don’t have to rely on motivation or willpower. You are using a different part of your brain, not the prefrontal cortex where decision-making resides. With habits, you are avoiding decisions and therefore decision fatigue.
Good points brought up on this video. We shouldn't be our own worse enemy, we don't have to meet every single goal we have set for ourselves, but rather be proud if we made full effort at meeting our expectations.
Thanks Ronald! Great information on micro-habits! I started out on a 30-day Yoga challenge on July 1st. When that ended, I started another 30-day challenge. To date, I am on Day 54 of doing Yoga every single day!! Who knew? I never really enjoyed Yoga but now it seems I can't live without it!! Micro-habits work!!
"Taking action when I want to do something, but also taking action when I don't feel like it." This may be the most insightful statement in this whole video. You don't have to want to do something for it to still have a positive outcome in your life.
The one keeping us from success is ourselves really resonated with me. I self-sabotage a lot because of anxiety and depression. But I learnt to be patient and forgiving with myself. That's where micro habits come in... slowly, step-by-step building myself. Thank you for the video, excellent content.
Very often I find myself building new micro habits without even realising! It’s so helpful and almost seemless, those micro habits usually reflect my set of values. All it takes is the sound and open mindset!
Building a system of habits is so crucial for me in my journey to do better for myself and my family. For me it’s always been about the baby steps that allowed me to create long term habits. So I agree. We can’t be too hard on ourselves.
Number 4 really resonates with me. It is too easy to not do things that I don’t want to. I talk about starting an exercise program and I can’t seem to do it. It’s a block for me. I feel like a middle age frumpy woman.
I understand! It’s hard especially when you just don’t feel like it! Try not to think about it as a program. Think about it from the perspective of one day at a time !
@@littleleafy I agree! I do best competing against myself. I decided a few months ago to build on my daily walk and am up to four miles. If I miss a day for whatever reason I am back at it the following day. It's become part of my identity, as Ronald Banks discusses!
Enjoyed listening to this Ron. Habits can be influenced by what is both external and internal in life. Love how you present your videos and speak. So nice and clearly. Wishing you all the best for your poetry. Kind greetings from Switzerland.
Wow, I’m so thankful to of stumbled to Ron’s page; his content is amazing! Typically, I watch Matt D’Avella’s videos, and now I’ll have two phenomenal sources for self-development content. Again, thank you for being a positive creator in this instant gratification and “quick fix” time.
This channel has truly help me transform this past month. Thanks so much for the work you put in on these videos. Keep it coming ... this is a part of my 2. Curating a beautiful and inspiring surrounding.
I appreciate you! Definitely understand how debilitating it can be to be too hard on myself, even when in reality I'm accomplishing a lot. Lots to unpack there.
These are so good! Listening to your heart resonated with me the most because I so frequently doubt my own capabilities and don’t even try to reach my goals.
Oooo I completely understand where you’re coming from. Self doubt is a crazy thing! I hope my content starts to help you with this so you can find that confidence in yourself!
I am a fan of Roxane Gay too! One habit I have been working on is taking action when I don't want to. I'm trying to consistently work out "train my body" and post 1-2x videos a week on RUclips.
Consistently is everything! I’m still working to improve my consistency with a couple of things I’m doing as well. This journey is truly for the long hale!
I always enjoy your insight! I learned at a very early age my family has a toxic impact. I have gone through stages of how to deal with the conflict, controlling and negativity. One thing I learned is appropriate sources of information. Since my primary environment views themselves to be experts in all areas and has answers for questions no one asked, it is a flag for me to carefully evaluate my decision making.
Ronald L. Banks I really appreciate your style and what you’re doing. Keep up the great work! I’m sharing your videos to everyone I feel will be open and receptive to the knowledge you are providing.
I only recently started to watch your videos, I am enjoying them immensely. I love the micro habits - because I live in chronic pain due to fibromyalgia and arthritis since I was a young child, I do already do some watching my habits and mindset and know many of my triggers and what they cause. I will admit though, staying on a healthy path can be difficult with conditions that are out of your control that can change your pain levels and ability to accomplish even the smallest things. I will admit I have always pushed ( or better described as bully) my way through to get the basic things done. It can be very challenging, but I work on it every day. As for being my own worst enemy - well that works in many ways for me. I have learnt to be gentler with myself, I grew up being told that I was not good enough, then married someone who did the same. I know understand I am good enough, but I still have to remind myself not to be hard on myself. My current partner has been fantastically supportive, including in my desire to declutter and improve our surroundings so we can enjoy a simpler life. We both love your concept of having "enough". We are a work in progress but enjoying the work and the awakening that is occurring - Thank you
I know for a fact I get in my own way alllll the timmmmeeee. The second I want to do something I’ll get this anxious feeling and then won’t do it. Observing my patterns and learning to overcome them is going to be the biggest challenge for me.

You won't believe this... But, one week ago, I made some really nice curtains. I didn't need them. I don't really know why I was making them.. It was as if, I had did self hypnosis. Then I realized, that's how I got in that disorganized way to begin with. I called a relative whom had a similar color scheme in her home. I asked if she wanted the curtains, she gladly accepted. But, I'm told she just put them in a storage chest. Smh. I didn't think that my clearing my space, could be a source of unorganization to someone else. I learned from that. Often times it's better to remember, who we give items too. What is meant to be a blessing, could be anything but. Thanks for all your wisdom, young Brother. It is indeed life changing. Much Respect. Peace always.
Watching for patterns has been so huge for me! I'd be like, "I keep doing this thing?" "But, Why?" Just because I live in me, doesn't me that I can't stop getting to know me
