Hi Ronald, my decluttering journey is going great! I had previously decluttered SO much stuff and didn't think there was anything else I could get rid of. But I've just cut my book collection in HALF and have renewed my decluttering momentum!
Ronald I would say it that much harder to declutter when you have really good quality things because then you'll ask yourself I can't believe I got rid of that. So starting seems more difficult.
LauraACG, a big part of this journey is separating ourselves from how much money we spent on items. The truth is we can’t get the money back but we can gain more time once we let those things go. Time is definitely the most valuable asset we have. Keep growing!
What do you do with preserves people make and give you? Like the pickled beets that you won't eat, the cucumber/mint jelly for putting on crackers with cream cheese.... it's a big thing here, and I am only invited to a few pot lucks a year... Also, how do you do kitchen minimalism? The expired baking supplies and spices? It is hard to throw away spices because they never seem to be unusable.
@@TERESADEAR Pass them on to food banks. If nothing local, let your friends know that you can no longer eat certain foods. Due to medical issues, some of us have been forced to forego our favourites. You are truly blessed to have such friends. Do not buy spices you will not use again because of one recipe or what was in your family's kitchen spice rack. Do throw them out and start over again with what you will actually use for food.you cook or to enhance take-out/take home.

My brother in law has a garage filled with stuff he "might" need. I just moved in to my new flat and I am doing everything I can to ensure I don't end up like him. This is great video.
I like the seperate not procrastinate idea. This week I took about 7small bags of items to the Goodwill over a five day period and also took out about 10 small bags of trash over time on a daily basis
Great job ! Me too! Ive done other rooms and left my room last. My goal is to have a decluttered room and be able to decorate It. Ive never been able to because of all the piles. Ive posted items for sale and its been helping me let go. To know I sold it for a really low price and its being recycled. Ive been selling big bulky furniture and loving some of the open space coming out of it.
I started a small job, but had little time because I was busy in other areas. Since decluttering gave saved so much time I will use that freed time half on business and the other half on leisure
Thank you for this video! I have always struggled with consistency in decluttering. I always get started with a day or two of intense purging, but that's where it stops. I want to stick with it and truly work towards making the volume of my belongings less overwhelming. Soooooo much stuff has been bought unnecessarily, and now it's overwhelming to even think of the journey ahead. So again, thank you.
I've finally made the decision to start my decluttering journey. As a single mother, with a 1 year old, I'm finding it difficult to part ways with the items I know I should let go of but I am up for the challenge!
Also, Ron, I appreciate seeing your very neat closets and the apartment. I have lived in the same house for almost 19 years and it's amazing what you can find buried in the back of closets and drawers. My goal is to get everything super cleaned out and then get my apartment painted. I had been focusing on the outside of my house but I think the inside is more important right now.
It sounds like you’re focused and know exactly where you need to devote your attention next. I’m excited for you and your journey Kasandra. Keep growing!
Wow, Bingo. Exactly how I feel. I’m currently going through room by room. It’s been so hard. We are finally living our Dream as we bought land and are now working toward building our home. I don’t want anything coming with us that isn’t of Value.

Thank you for your videos and I'll be checking out your podcast! I've started to declutter toxic people and people who stifled my growth from my life and at first it was scary but now I feel so proud and more sure of myself. I'm still learning but happy to be taking the steps toward decluttering the things that don't add value to my life!
Your journey will be unique to you and I’m really happy that you’re making progress Micha. Keep growing and learning. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!
Great decluttering topic Ronald! I listen also to The Minimal Mom and Joshua Becker (and a couple more) which are helping me on my journey to a cleaner living..and even though I look around my house and see clear spaces I remember those cabinets and drawers I am still “stuffing” things in to. I learn and glean from each of you and share your ideas with friends who are just starting their journey in decluttering. I rejoice with each person when they “see and feel the benefits from decluttering”. Thanks so much for sharing your journey with others!
Both with things I own and things I do, I get overwhelmed really easily. It's only the moment I realise, I (myself) can get rid of that feeling by simply focusing on what matters to me the most - or simply only on what ACTUALLY matters to me. What truly matters to me is not much and that gives me a lot of freedom. Great video!
It inspired me to get up and get going. Decluttering and organizing will help me so much with homeschooling so I'm glad to know you've started a podcast. Thanks.
So tonight I've been looking for podcasts on declutting. After not finding any, i thought "i wonder if he (You Ronald) has any videos on it. " And I come here and ofc come out with a podcast for my exact need. The universe and manifestation is working with this one.
Enforcing better habits has seriously helped my family so much, I’ve enforced things like “we can’t buy ____ right now because it’s not in the budget” on my kids that when we do buy something they ask me if it was in the budget lol
Pretty well. I find decluttering to be enjoyable. Although not everyone in my household feels the same way lol. Thanks for inspiring us all. I uploaded my first 2 minimalism videos because of channels like yours 🌿
This was worth watching/listening a second time! Stuff is time consuming and I'm very pleased with my journey. I started out strong last year and now I'm consistent. It's easier to say no to things and yes to experiences.
Wonderful tips to help us on our decluttering journeys. I love the separate don’t procrastinate tip. I have a spare bedroom that I’m going to tackle tomorrow so this is great timing. Keep posting. I need the encouragement. God bless you
I’m happy this resonated with you DeAnn. I hope your day of decluttering in your spare bedroom is going well. I appreciate your love and blessings also, thank you. Keep growing on your journey!
Intelligent sincerity always resonates. Thank you for sharing all that you have thus far. Your thoughts have added greatly to this quiet ,inward time. Again, thank you.
I find your videos very helpful. I feel like a minimalist at heart who is still slowly working on decades of backlog. I’m moving in a positive direction everyday. Your videos usually have at least one or two key points I can relate to. Thank you for the inspiration you provide me to continue my minimalist journey!
Im feel like Im chipping away at the clutter. Its been hard to let go of some items. Selling items has helped. My teenagers have been going through their items and posting them for sale. I let them keep the money to use on what they need or want. They really havent been asking me for anything. My oldest has moved out and had his 20th birthday. Instead of lots of material items, i asked what bills does he have. I made his last $250 truck payment for him and a small $50 tool payment. I made all his favorite meals this week and a cake. Im always trying to think of non- materialistic gifts.
That’s so awesome!! I’m happy you’re giving non-materialistic gifts like this. I’m sure it made your sons day. I hope you can your family continue to grow on y’all journeys.
Thank you for talking about the importance of habits. This was a very thought provoking message. I love separate not procrastinate... taking a small bite, not a big one if you are overwhelmed. Again, thank you!
You always make great videos that make me pause, think, and really let what you've said sink in. This one really resonated. That was me, staring at the closets and wondering if I would miss these things that I had not used in weeks, months, years. Overwhelmed. I'm so happy I decluttered my living space, then my mind, and then began working on the rest of my life. Thank you for making videos. I would not have worked on my mind (and life) if I had not found your channel.
Yes! 🙌🏾 I love this Ivy! The closet metaphor I used in this video is so important. Im happy to hear that you’re making progress on your journey and I’m glad I that can be apart of the growth with you.
@@RonaldLBanks Thank you, again. It has been a great journey so far, difficult at times but worth it. You show us the proof of the positive results of working on it.
I'm working on it. I continually take things out and give them away. The only things I have brought in are tp,paper towels, Toothpaste. I coupon and I have a small stash if these items i get super cheap or free. It really saved me during the pandemic. I am just now running out of toilet paper.
Through this video, I got motivated again! thank you! I am going to start now. Greets from Germany! keep up the good work. I watch your videos and they give me the kick I need to reevaluate what I use and what needs to go.
Ron, great video! You always bring such strength, conviction, and realness to minimalism. When you made the statement "Be afraid of how much life you might miss because of your clutter." That really hit home. That is definitely going to be my new driving force in my minimalism journey. Thank you :) Also, I love being part of your Patreon family :)

I've got to a part in my decluttering where I feel like I'm surrounded by things I like but I need to organise it better so I know what I have which for a lot of it I have done well but some cupboards still need improving and you ve inspired me a way i might be able to do it.
@@RonaldLBanks thank you. I started on the road to decluttering my mentally and emotionally and I did some organisation and funnily enough I ended up decluttering here and there, in sentimental, tech, under the sink and i ended up with 2 bags over flowing for finding homes donations for which is not what I was expecting.
I just love your videos. Long time subscriber. This was particularly salient for me. I am opening up my life to opportunity...a potential move, a new job, other new things...and if I want to be able to 'do it all' I need to prioritize being nimble and reducing costs. Minimalism is what does that for me. Thank you for that reminder! Keep pushing on this platform, you're very talented.
Another awesome video! Sorry, I haven't been watching your videos lately I've been stuck in a rut during the lockdown and lost my motivation but now things are slowly returning to normal I'm motivated again. Love and Blessings to you and yours!
I was listening to this weeks vid and it really resonated with me. I’m fairly well progressed into my minimalist journey, but listening to this made me think about an internal de cluttering, and how I go to the next step. Thanks so much, Ronald. I appreciate your thoughts and insights. I would really like to show this video to my work team mates. I hope that is OK. I will ensure I refer everyone to your channel.
My journey is an ongoing process- I use one hour per day to box stuff that I do not need. I have two boxes- one for stuff that has potential to be sold online and one box for donation to goodwill. I am getting there Ronald but gradually.
Doing pretty good on the possessions decluttering (mine at least. The rest of the household is...getting there. They are on board, it's just not pressing for them, or other things are more pressing to be accurate.) For me, it is more the mental clutter that I am wading through with difficulty. :(
I have a video on my channel talking about how to start decluttering mental clutter. I hope this helps you get started. Here’s a link: ruclips.net/video/-5eqpKTCWDk/видео.html
It gets hard for me when decluttering only adds on more steps. Sometimes I wish I could just throw everything I need to rid my spaces of into the garbage. It's always more complicated when some stuff can be donated, others sold, some recycled. It just becomes a headache and I don't have all the time to do it all.
Don't be afraid to declutter. Be afraid how much life you might miss coz of your clutter. 👏👏👏 I have a question. What makes minimalist a minimalist? Is it less stuff. I think a lot these days before making any purchase as compared to earlier. So, am I a minimalist too, like you?? 😀😀
Minimalism is not living with out, it’s enjoying everything you need. So yes owning less is part of it, but it’s not solely about that. We all have different lifestyles which require different things. Find what less looks like for you in all aspects of life. Physically, mentally and emotionally!
0:08 Mentally, I am ready to get rid of everything I dont touch in a daily basis. Physically, horrible. I have not done any decluttering, donating, or thrown out.
This was very helpful for me! I'm busy to declutter a lot of stuff but I'm stuck at the moment with a lot of emotional things like toys and books from my childhood. I don't use it anymore but it's hard to say goodbye. Don't know exactly what to do with it. I want to get rid of it because I live in a small apartment now and I don't have enough space to hold on to those things but I don't want to regret my choices. Do you have any advice?
First step back and ask yourself what is creating this emotional tie I feel to these items. Sometimes it’s a memory we’re reminded of whenever we see, tough or hold emotional/sentimental things. The best approach I think you can do is be gentle with yourself and find a balance that works for you. Can you let go of the items but keep phots of them? Can you let go off all but a small handful that really resonated with you? Or do you simply need more time before you’re ready to let go? Either way, just know your journey will be unique to you. I how that helps. Keep growing on your journey MB.
@@RonaldLBanks Thanks Ronald, I think that'll help! Maybe I need more time and have to think about why I want to hold on to these items. Hopefully I can solve this for myself. I think the biggest issue is that I don't want to lose the memories and it seems ungrateful to get rid of the stuff from my childhood because my parents bought them with care. I know you won't lose your memories if you don't have the items anymore, actually there's a lot of stuff I don't have anymore but I still remember it. I think I will take a step back for now and look at the items later on.
Ronald L. Banks: Would you please address the issues surrounding medical health. There are a lot of factors which can derail I believe this is an area that seldom gets discussed outside the pivotal points of minimalism. Steadily drifting from shame/blame; dissolving habits/people; physician meet-and-greet--I'm outta here; trusting myself to take care of myself with doctors who listen/advise a 30+ year journey to physically heal. enjoy

I'm decluttering my journal writings overwhelmed by the amount and how to choose what's actually important to me. I'm curious do you declutter your journal writings?
Having a bit of a problem with the Core Values worksheet. I tried to get it on my phone but all the pages looked blank, so I tried my laptop and it's a lot better - the only issue is that on page 2 I can only see one column at the right side of the page, starting with simplicity and ending with traveling. I'm thinking there should be other columns. Is anyone else having the same problem? EDIT: Instead of just viewing it, I downloaded it to Adobe Acrobat and I can see all the words now.

I've got to a part in my decluttering where I feel like I'm surrounded by things I like but I need to organise it better so I know what I have which for a lot of it I have done well but some cupboards still need improving and you ve inspired me a way i might be able to do it.
I’m happy that I could be of inspiration to you Jules. Keep growing on your journey! I’m excited for you.
I appreciate your kind words Kyre. Thank you so much for being apart of the community. I’m excited about your journey as well! Keep growing!

As always great advice
I'm waiting for your book 📚 😂 you are just too great.
Definitely! Please share with those you feel will get value from it. Keep growing on your journey as well Tim!
Very well said, Ron. Always look forward to your videos. Love and peace from Toronto 😘

Great one! Always thought provoking
I love your video editing style. It's so simple yet engaging 👌🏾
Thank you!
I’ve been removing one item a week. I think about it for a week until I’ve made a decision to let it go.
wonderful
My journey is an ongoing process- I use one hour per day to box stuff that I do not need. I have two boxes- one for stuff that has potential to be sold online and one box for donation to goodwill. I am getting there Ronald but gradually.
Keep growing and learning Jane! I’m super excited for you and your journey ahead!
@@RonaldLBanks Thank you Ronald.
Ronald your channel is outstanding! I am a new subscriber. Thank you!
Welcome to the community Lennon! I’m glad you decided to join. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!
I honestly think the best way to help with decluttering is to write down a list of goals and to gradually work on those goals.
Your 1st question helped me decide on some items from my grandmother. If it means so much then why am I not using it...duh🙂
Thanks for this!
I’m glad you enjoyed this!
its the way subscribing to your channel is free FOR ME. quality content always keep it up✨🤍
Don't be afraid to declutter. Be afraid how much life you might miss coz of your clutter. 👏👏👏
I have a question.
Steadily drifting from shame/blame; dissolving habits/people; physician meet-and-greet--I'm outta here; trusting myself to take care of myself with doctors who listen/advise a 30+ year journey to physically heal.
enjoy
Oh man the podcast isn’t on Tidal. Is there another way to listen aside from what you’ve listed.
Currently struggling......to declutter 😩
You should checkout my Extended Decluttering Checklist! I put this together to really help with decluttering all aspects of life. Physically, mentally and emotionally. Here is a link: www.ronaldlbanks.com/shop/p/extended-decluttering-checklist
I’m at the beginning. So how do I get started? 🙄
I’m really good at decluttering people. 😐
😂😂👍
It’s going very slow I’m overwhelmed
Break it down and separate your clutter into smaller sections. If it’s really overwhelming you step back and take a break. Remember your journey will be unique to you so go at your own pace.
Do not give up Mariam. Do a little bit daily. You can start with 30 minutes per day and then gradually increase the time frame. WE CAN DO THIS.
I'm decluttering my journal writings overwhelmed by the amount and how to choose what's actually important to me. I'm curious do you declutter your journal writings?
😣😣😣 I have purchased a few books in the past 6 mths 😣😣😣
Having a bit of a problem with the Core Values worksheet. I tried to get it on my phone but all the pages looked blank, so I tried my laptop and it's a lot better - the only issue is that on page 2 I can only see one column at the right side of the page, starting with simplicity and ending with traveling. I'm thinking there should be other columns. Is anyone else having the same problem? EDIT: Instead of just viewing it, I downloaded it to Adobe Acrobat and I can see all the words now.
I noticed that when I tested it again. I’ve updated the file. Hopefully this works better for you.
Hi ! :)
We all want to succeed, but this is not possible for me. Can we try something else :) How to turn little depression into something really positive ...
Thank you, thank you!
Slowly but surely.
I'm decluttering my youtube. Any subscription that isnt adding value to my life I'm unsubscribing. Time to start educating myself and stop entertaining myself.
Love this idea! 🙌🏾
you speak like a poet and that makes you feel very unapproachable and condescending.
I don't think you're coming off as unapproachable on purpose, but that is the effect this tone has.
I'm gay.
