  • Thank you for watching, Like and Subs.
In this one we were called out to slow draining waste, what we found was way worse then we thought.
After punching a hole in the blocked we quickly discovered the scale of fat that had been consuming the drain system for what looked like a very long time.
we were told that An air fryer was being emptied and down the kitchen sink and from what we could see i believed it. a lesson to all using these fryers, fat goes in the bin not down the drain.
During this visit, we ran out of fuel and i had to pop out to get some, i left Matt behind with the garden hose cleaning the chamber. the entire chamber was coated from top to bottom and the drain line from the kitchen was cleaned out upon my return. it was one of the worst domestic fat clogs i have seen.
Thank you for watching and reading my story. 1.5K subs, I really appreciate your support and kind words. I’m still learning, but I hope you enjoy my videos.

A friend of mine at his restaurant said he figured out the best way to get the floors clean of grease was to pours hot water on them, and while that does work, once it hits those cold cast iron drain pipes and rapidly cools, causing that grease to gel or harden up rapidly, eventually clogging the pipes, then he calls me to come clear them, I kerp telling him to use degreaser instead of hot water, but he won't, so I know what to do each time I go. Grease and wipes, keeping plumbers/drain cleaners in business.

And this is why you never flush grease nor use the sink to dispose of it.

Septic system owners have long learned the wonders of enzymes.
Ecozone might help them not have this issue recur

How would enzymes help in a main sewer? Totally pointless.

@@Simonsimon-fy3hq You’ll notice I never said it would be a miracle cure. Also, you’re only treating a service drain, not a main.

I like the fat unblocks, they are one of my favourite kind of drain cleaning videos. I wonder if boiling water and fairy liquid every so often helps? you're always going to get some fat down through washing pans.

Fairy liquid (and all other washing up liquids) will loosen grease from pots and pans. The grease will still go into the drains. The real problem is when the grease cools and solidifies.

The waste plumbing differences between the UK and the US have me wondering a times. How deep is the frost line over there in the UK? Here in southern Minnesota drain lines need to be buried at least 4 feet to minimize chances of freezing. Seeing the (very handy) access point you guys have in the UK makes me wonder just how cold does the weather get over there.
    Good video!

Last year we got to -7C or 19F only for a few days. we mostly stay above freezing tho. the frost line is 12-14" max but generally less then half that and providing drains are covered they do not freeze. i had 1 frozen gully once and only because it was backed up level with the ground. its as rare as rocking horse sh*t to get frozen drains. the system here works well and most of it is ancient.

@@Elbows-Deep Oh, yeah, I forgot the ocean brings in a lot of heat energy over there. This past winter was exceptionally mild over here with very little snow. We usually get a couple feet of snow and a sharp cold snap around Jan-Feb (4 or 5 days of sub-zero Fahrenheit).
An older gentleman years ago recounted to me how he helped his neighbor unfreeze his fresh water line using an old buzz-box welder on the copper pipe. They clamped the stinger to the pipe inside the house and clamped the ground lead to the earthing pole outside, and let it run for 2-3 hours while having a faucet barely open to get the water flowing. The copper pipe acted as a resistor to produce heat. Strange story, he is/was an honest fellow so I have no reason to doubt him.

And drains in Australia are also very different, since I guess in never really gets that cold, drain line are often run along the walls on the outside of the house, might look crappy, but it makes them really easy to service.

Washing powder residue also adheres to the fat residue.

I don't understand why people put fat down the drain they must know that it will cause a blockage
