Excellent! Thanks Mike, and not a crochet hook in sight! Love this. Several people on my course lost their elastic and we didn't have a hook with us. This technique would have got everyone back up and running 👍 I always find your videos so informative and helpful. Thanks for making such great content.
Can you please do a video on stringing a white cane together from start to finish? I found out that the elastic are sold online in meters. if I bought some elastic, and if I had a cane that was broken because of the elastic breaking, I want to learn how to restring The elastic together the joints can fit. This way you don't have to keep buying new canes.
I'm not going to need most of the information on this channel for ~5 or more years yet, but there's some cool stuff here that wasn't on offer 20yrs ago when I was learning this stuff for the first time. 😁 Maybe you'll come across someone who might benefit from your curiosity in the future, or who would be grateful you're not asking 1,000 questions about their normal that they might have difficulty answering simply because it's normal for them? Either way, you're awesome. :)
As of 2013, ambutech has fitted a small piece of white plastic to stop the cord from getting lost, but it makes this method impossible. Not to mention its really difficult to get the right knot and tension when you're done. Joke is i tried this to no avail.
You had on a different video a door bell with a remote. Is this a normal door bell or a special one? I've been needing something to help me find my front door after I go outside. I live in a trailer park. I have rp and very very little sight left. I think the door bell you had might be the thing I need. Can you hive me info about it? Thank you. Just found you on youtube. Good videos too.
Genuinely curious, why go with this method over the crochet hook? I’m completely blind and have had this happen to me several times. I don’t have anyone to serve as an extra set of hands who has the strength to keep the cord apart, and I haven’t had great luck at untying the knot at the top and then retying it in the exact way it was before. I feel like this method always takes me hours and often I have to get my O&M to help and/or do it for me. I can get it with a crochet hook in ten minutes or less, every time. Is one method preferred over the other? Or is this one of those things that’s not necessarily recommended to be done a certain way, but just varies based on the consumer or the O&M?
Great question: I think it totally comes down to a persons preference. The crochet hook method is another great option. I just wanted to provide another option for people to try. Especially since most people I work with don’t have a crochet hook lying around making it challenging to do that method. But ultimately comes down to what works best for the person.
