Hey Chris, I’m off from work today, yes good way to start the morning watching your video and drinking a good coffee next to the wood stove ! I love that saw !
You’ll be surprised at how much faster your wood will dry in the new woodyard! That open field will work wonders! The wind being able to blow through the wood will make a HUGE difference.
Do you stack the wood E--W or N--S? Based on my wind profile, E-W works best. Using n-s gives west exposure for the sun, BUT, the kept blowing off the cover This could provide a significant number of comments. Enjoy your adventures and still pick up numerous tips for this old chainsaw guy
I started using the zip tie method last spring they work. I keep mine so I can rotate it backward so when I load my saws into my carryall with fuel jugs and oil jugs and tool box that everything fits. My ties are big beefy ones. I enjoy the wood cats 🐈 there more tame than the feral cats I have. I think I’m down to 12 cats now, in the spring there will be more. Keep on cutting
Thanks for the new video this Tuesday and definitely nice to see the sun out in the wood yard,, the new saw was cutting good and thanks for the valuable info brotha..
I use the zip tie method after watching you. As you said, cheap, easy, and efficient. Takes basically no extra time and keeps you consistent with length.
Thanks for the review on the whiskers. The pro sizer measurement is very dependent on how you line up your bar to the log. If you use the tip of the bar it will size up a long round, if you measure from the dogs then it cuts a short piece. Hard to maneuver in a log pile and always measure consistently. I think I will do both the pro sizer and the whiskers. Being able to compare the two should be helpful
I was lucky enough to get left everything to start a firewood business when my dad passed away. Just found your channel a couple days ago and you definitely give me more motivation to get this rolling!

When I cut a little wood up at the farm where the hunt camp is it was a get together with the guy 's who hunted and lived on the farm. Now we have gotten older and some are not with us now. As I get older I think back of the work it was. We would cut and split dry wood; and fill up two hay wagons in the morning - eat a Homemade farm lunch and cut two loads in the afternoon. Unload and stack all the wood in a Pole Barn made for the storage of firewood. Now everything is automated. Just stacking now. I got a little age on me so I just stack a little. But I can still eat the homemade meals. Wish I lived closer; would love to stop by and supervise, - Grin. Love and Happiness to all
I used it a little bit. Heated handles are nice. My next saw is going to have heated grips. Smaller saw to replace my old Huskey 51. If you need some more wood for this year let Chris know can always bring you some of what I have in barn.
Wow.................!!! Thanks for sharing this I have been looking at how to better measure my firewood but haven't liked what I saw but this is perfect 💯!
Great video, now that you have 3 dump trailers you should put the smaller cut wood in the back of one of them and back it up to the splitter that way you don't have to move it again and again when splitting with the Easton. Or if the conveyor is lower to the ground then the trailer and can handle it you could put the smaller cut wood on the conveyor and let it stack the wood on the trailer and out of your way. Just and Idea, I have and extra truck and that is what I do, put the cut wood in the truck and take it to the splitter, pick it up once or twice instead of 3 or 4 times. Keep up the good videos.

Nice saw! 👍💪
Sure is!
Why not use the processor? Nice concrete slab, equipment to quickly move the logs, conveyor, unlimited storage...
You will see it soon.
That's very clever with the zip ties 😆opps I forgot GNI 😆 hi Ann did you beat me again? 11 this time 😆 hope it's warmer today Sheesh 13 F / minus 10.5 C that's harsh 🥶
Hi.
I overslept. We got up to 50 with 40 mph winds. Temps dropping today.
Thanks for watching!
Have you always done firewood or did you have a different profession prior to getting into the hustle full time?
Firewood is just a side thing, I own another business.
@@InTheWoodyard 2 other businesses.
The answer to this question and many many more can be found on a great many previous videos .
Pick the feed dish up and use it as a scoop.
We have a hand full count of measuring, but I will see if the cats will let me do that! Ha!!
Heated handles would be awesome to have!👍👍 GNI
Good morning Jeremiah
@@kenthorsen4558 good day sir!
Yup, you NEED some Jeremiah!
Why not stack your rose on pallets to Rose one on the end one on the other end so you have a nice air pocket in the middle
Who is Rose ?
And where are you keeping her?
What are you not telling us?
Sorry I do not know exactly what you are asking, I do some stacking in rows with pallets on the ends.
Fastest. Easiest . Cheapest. That's the triple threat
Yup, just like me!
I live in NW SD very few trees or hills or canyons, when the wind blows here there is no place to hide from it except in a building (usually) AND it sometimes really blows 50-60 MPH and beyond that even!!! You know why there is wind in South Dakota? A: MT blows and MN sucks.........LOL
They erected over 300 wind turbine generators just six miles from my No. West Illinois home because of the consistent wind.
Yup, that is true, I deer hunt there every year on the Standing Rock Res. always windy!
No, they did that because we subsidizes them for the turbines and the gubmint likes to spend our money on what they want. I know a guy who works on them and he says for the cost they MIGHT break even in 20-25 years IF they don't break down and if they always run.
Welcome to the economy crunch folks don't have as much expendable cash. It is cold here also. another great video my friend.
So true, thanks Tom!
after watching the last vid why have you not got a circet breaker , it would stop the cable fro burning , and dont load the trailer to high so wood dont get caught in the loader
Electrical cord repair is on 8 other channels,
This is wood yarding.
Yup.
yup
Impressive!!!
Thanks Barry!
Why aren’t you using the processor
It's on the schedule, there is a lot of tree service would that requires attention,
That won't work in the E.M. processor
I will soon, most of the wood I have now is either to small, to big or to crotchy.
HEY!!! im drinking coffee and sitting in my easy chair! Not the family throne.
You can do all that on the throne too.
I think Harbor Freight has zip ties for just a couple of dollars. Cheap cheap
Yup.
Is it just me or do those wood cats seem to be getting plump?
They all are getting fat and lazy, just like me.
Heated handles will be nice.
They are!
I’m so going to use you zip tie idea
Go for it!
10 dog to another I use my eyesight after you know yourself that is a good idea I'll try it but I really don't like anything around my when I'm cutting I can I can usually after cutting wood for so long I usually come within an inch
Yup, if a person cuts enough you can eye ball it , 15-17" is acceptable.
🤘
Thanks!
Just to keep you getting smarter every day, a group (herd, as you called them) of cats is called a "clowder"...You are welcome!
Yup, but I like herd better it sound bigger and more like a rancher, clowder sounds like a east coast city thing to me.
So is part of the deal with Burt that you keep the cats fed, or are you just"making" friends?
I feed them to get them out of my way for working!
Time for a trip to the feed store for some Woodcat rations, I wouldn't want to see what would happen if they turned on you for being hangry........
Yup, they would eat me, I am sure of it!
Chris, does your wife know you go “catting around” in the woodyard?
Yup, she does not like them either!
