Buy them all 😎 I’m a stihl fanboy and ran 28 for years, but now have 25 on two saws and it’s my sweet spot. Buuut when you get into a 20-36 nice and straight, 1-3 cord stick of fir, it’s fun to let the 32 500 with foam filter and straight shot exhaust rip. Sometimes it’s nice just for felling too. I too always carry 2-3 saws, and have a buddy that cuts firewood for a living and he runs one saw, wears no ppe, takes his young kids and dogs along every day, running long bar only using mauls, makes you feel smart lol his yard is full of dead saws, and I looked at his 462 and his bar rails were really sharp and no paint on the tip

Just bought one a few weeks ago. I’m getting a 28” bar for it and I added a wraparound handle bar and for a lefty like myself, it gives you a couple of different grab options. I do like the longer bars, I have a 585 with a 36” for my chainsaw mill and for bigger wood around my farm. We have some decent sized old pines that are going to become boards very soon. Much love from NC from another old guy 🤙. Be careful out there.

Thanks Chris. I have a 455 Rancher and it has worked great for 20 years. Never had one issue. But what I notice now is that it is heavy! Maybe it's because I am older, lol.
I cut about 7 cords a year and it works great. I have purchased a Dewalt electric top saw, 12 inch. It is quite and lite weight. It also keeps me from working too long, as the battery lasts about 2 hours. That makes you take a break.
You have got me thinking about a lighter power saw than the 455!

I turned sixty in March, I’ve got a bunch of Stihl saws, 034, 440, 064, 660 and 880. A couple of years ago I bought a Stihl 241c. A tiny saw with a 14” bar and a narrow chain. It weighs nothing and cuts like a light sabre. You can bury the bar in hardwood and it still rips. If you really look at the diameter of the logs you are cutting it’s pretty rare that you need much more of a saw. My back loves it. I recently bought a 346, it’s a little bit heavier but has 1hp more, another great small lightweight pro saw. See if you can demo one

Because the chain and bar is new, I would recommend that you file the rakers down a little. The saw isn't under full load.
Do you guys just cut firewood in this log pile or do you guys go logging? It's a huge difference wich saw to choose an how good it is if you go 8 hour logging and earn your money with it or if you are on even ground, no branches, no wholes and you have to cut down and process trees the whole day. For a day in the woods you want a saw as light and powerful as you can get - Maybee even ported so you have to carry less weight because your gear weights enough too.
Because of the telling dogs - try the west coast 3 point dogs. You will love them because you get so much more performance.
    Greetings from Germany

I cut a bunch of tree tops today and as you can imagine they were laying everywhere all tangled up and started with my Sthil 462 and at 14lbs I only lasted about 2 hours with that thing then switched to my Echo 620 which is a bit lighter then I was spent so I pulled out my little Echo 355T with a tiny 14" bar and and it was a breathe of fresh air and used that the rest of the day. Another fine comparison👍. Trade offs with everything and being of shorter stature bar reach is less important for me! I find the 562 balances better with a 20" but 24" is useable, 572 balances better with a 24" and the 592 balances best with a 28" but I run a 24"🤪. .325 non-safety chain is available. Never had much use for a 60cc preferring either the 50cc or 70cc jump maybe a 60cc is in my future. 1%💩😁

For the cutting you do, double dogs is nice. For stumping, a single dog is better along with no full wrap handle.

New Protos helmet questions. You've had a chance to wear them in production. Worn them enough to still like them? I also noticed you don't seem to be using the helmet mic in making your videos like you thought you would. Is the sound quality not there or do you just need to remember to use it? I 've got a group of 3 that work together a lot and I am considering these for the group to improve our ability to talk back and forth. Any plans to try these out with multiple people talking back and forth soon? thanks for helping us with equipment choices.

I cut 5 facecords of dry to semi dry apple, cut down like 2 yrs . It didn't like being cut. It's dense. Dry ash and elm can be tough cutting also. I've got 2 460 ranchers that I hardly use anymore since i getting a 661 and 572. I Want to just get another 572,24" bar to replace them since they are way faster. Faster is better. Time is $, especially in firewood and logging and tree removals . My brother has 2 562s all u ever need for cutting softwood and pine. Which is mostly what he sawmills every day. I've run alot of smaller stihls and they always never start easy as husqvarna and they seem square and bulky and flimsy handles. The anti vibrant handles on the huskys makes and the difference for production cutting every day yr round

I had a 562xp and agree it's a good all-around saw. It's super fast.. when it runs. My 562 was a b**** to start. I had it in the shop twice with maybe 4-6 hours on the saw. I run aviation fuel in it and know how to properly start a saw. This was the fussiest saw I've ever started, if it didn't start in the first few pulls, it was flooded. It was my tipping point and transitioned all my saws to Stihl. In my humble opinion, my Stihl saws start and run easier although I admit the Husqvarna saws are probably faster.

A few more tanks of gas through the 562 and it will have more pep and you are handicapping it with that long of bar. Yes its rated for up to 28 it but a 20 would make a lot of difference in the low end power. As you said the 572 will always out cut it simply because its bigger but especially if you are comparing them with the same length bars. Both are great saws. There is no wrong choice.

    • @InTheWoodyard

I like my 20 inch bar best. 16 is too small and 24 is a bit big for my liking. We all have our preferences. I wouldn't even want to use a 36 or 48 inch bar and couldn't imagine cutting with a 60 inch bar.

It's strange, why your 562 "II" hasn't a black decorative top like all the other models of the XP type ? The 562 "mark II" I saw yesterday at my dealer's was just like the "mark I" was, with a black piece on top.

I’m surprised you don’t have a 550mk2. With 18-20 inch bar and the key is Stihl rs .325 chain. Not the safety chain. Wood under 8 inch this saw will out cut a 572. And being 11 lbs you can throw it around all day and still feel good

I don't get it. What is this thing about having overlong guidebars on every chainsaw in USA??
Here in Sweden, where the Husqvarna pro chainsaws are made, the most common length on 50cc is 13" or 15", 60cc 16", 70cc 20" and 90cc 24" or 28" for tree felling. 😀😀

      @InTheWoodyard  3 месяца назад +1

We have bigger trees. We cut trees that are often 3' to 4' and more here . You forests are highly managed and harvested ours are mostly natural.
