  • Philadelphia Zoo is pleased to welcome the newest member of our reptile family, male Galapagos tortoise, Abrazzo.
Abrazzo recently arrived from Riverbanks Zoo in South Carolina and is currently in a standard quarantine in our vet hospital. Once out of quarantine, Abrazzo will join the rest of our giant tortoises at Reptile and Amphibian House. Our hope is that Abrazzo will breed with our female Galapagos tortoise, Mommy.
Fun Fact: At an estimated 98 years old, Abrazzo is believed to take Mommy’s current title of oldest animal in the Zoo. Though Mommy's hatch date is also unknown, she arrived at Philadelphia Zoo in 1932.
