i think why hannah can still interact with others is hannah hasn’t accepted her death unlike peter. he was confused at first but after realizing what happened, he accepted that he was dead. hannah know she’s dead but still didn’t accept it. also the scenes with owen are basically her subconscious trying to help her understand that she’s dead. the director said that he used this scene because that’s the moment where hannah first fell in love with owen. some of the events were memories where she was hopping through time, but others were just her subconscious helping her understand that she’s dead.
Yea I put that together eventually after the next episode. I was just thrown off because when she meets Dani she was looking down the well at her dead body, also she didn't want to leave the grounds, so I thought she knew. It all makes sense now - Corey
18:32 When Hannah says, "I will go to Paris with you ..." she had already faded away ... people were always wondering where she went. She listened to Owen's Paris idea too late. That is why Owen and Jamie couldn't see her and she was right there. Reminded me of Nell's "None of you could see me". Hannah's storyline has a lot of call-backs to Nell's storyline back in Season 1. Even the idea of time as "Confetti". Her afterlife was not a purgatory - but a beautiful bliss of the first time she met Owen. She could always jump the painful or scary memories and go back to her first time with Owen.
Peter could still interact with everything when he died. He held the doll until the second he realised he was dead. Hannah didn't realise she was dead so she still can.
So, every time you see Hannah spacing out, she is in the cycle of all those memories. Her repeating everything about the year and the kids ages, is her way of not getting overrun by the memories. What a brilliant episode especially when she gets back to the Owen interview memory, she is pretty much telling herself that there is something wrong with Miles. A little stronger each time. The lady in the lake walks a determined path. If you get in her path you are a goner FYI lake lady died in 1680
What a sad revelation for an amazing character. (I also thought Hannah was showing signs of dementia like Owen's mother.) Hannah deserved better. Poor Miles was used by Peter to kill the sweetest lady and other creepy things. Hannah and Flora have both said that Miles is a good boy. Owen and Hannah's love for one another is beautiful and tragic. Bly manor has many love stories attached to it. All of them seem to end tragically.
Flora figured it out with her dolls I think. That one that she has under the dresser is the lake lady. I think the pattern is if the doll is under the dresser she isn’t going to walk around. If she isn’t under the dresser she’s coming to the house. I think that’s why they locked Dani in the closet cause the doll was out from under the dresser. Flora and Peter were holding that doll when he died. Love the reaction.
Great reaction!! I think Hannah's has yet to realize she's dead. Remember Peter Quint? when the lake lady choked him and took him to another room he came back like nothing had happened and couldn't recall he had just died so he grabbed the doll and then after the kids told him about it he couldn't hold the doll anymore. I think the same thing is happening to Hannah.
Hannah was memory hopping. (And somehow also slipped into one of Rebecca's memories so we could see what happened to Peter.) I think that the longer the ghosts remain at Bly, the more they drift away in their memories. And she has to reiterate her name & other info to help anchor herself in the present. Which is another cool parallel with death and dementia as Owen has touched on. I feel it's Hannah's strong faith & belief that she needs to remain with the living at Bly that keeps her physically interacting with everyone after she's died. That memory with Owen must be like her touchstone, when she's drifting, so she keeps returning to it. Obviously a cherished memory. But it's not really Owen that she's talking to... it's her memory's version of him. And so she's talking with her subconscious...which is trying to make her aware of what actually happened / is happening. Love your reactions... really thoughtful!
One thing that I noticed is that - Miles and Flora do know when the Lady from the lake is in the house... When you see it you'll know. And great observation about what Miles said to Hannah about hurting her...

there are "lot more ghosts" in background. you guys failed to spot most of them. also viola's gave said 1680 not 1080
@@rash123d7 lol no. Im saying that was so long ago there’s no way Bly Manor was even there in 1080. The Normans had just invaded England about a decade before. It just cracked me up when they said that.
I cut it out, but we talked for a while how crazy early that was and how now we have to be thinking about middle ages England to figure out the lady of the lake mystery. That was before the black plauge even haha. 1680 makes things easier
The ghosts in the house are easter eggs, you have to pay a lot of attention to the interior background and the surroundings to see them or go frame by frame. You guys are really fun, I'm sold and subsribing!
Hannah can still interact with objects because she either doesn't remember or doesn't accept she is dead. Peter was the same with the doll until he remembered what happened to him and from that point onwards he couldn't pick anything up. Her lack of eating and drinking is a key identifier. Only twice does she bring a cup/ bottle to her lips when she isn't stuck in her loop but you can see she never swallows. She knows it is something she should do but she doesn't have the ability to swallow it both literally and metaphorically
Yeah anyway proper Manors wouldn’t have came about to 1200s and even then they were still more like castles that had towers and a drawbridge and shit. By the late 1400s/early 1500s they started making manors like this with gardens and no defences and actually make it more of a home because they weren’t at war as often except over in Spain.
this is my favorite episode of the season. my second favorite episode is coming up soon. I can't understand how you guys can make me laugh at one of the saddest episodes in the season lol
Another very entertaining conversation after the episode and I like hearing the theory’s u guys come up with. It also helps me understand some things that go on in the show when I get confused by and episode. Ur brainstorming sessions help. We in this together lol
you'll get answers :) keep going. you're doing good catching details! Rewatching the show after i completed it, was like watching for the first time. You catch things you didn't know meant anything. And paying attention to when Miles was miles or peter. ...... ps so.... in GOT what was soup? Bran's useless mental time travel? :) And so soup is a ladder. Got it.

Right now in LA is cold... at last.. but seeing your clothing, can’t really tell whether is hot or cold where you guys live lol. Two with sweaters, two with T-shirts. Anywho, I was waiting for your videos! Great reaction. As always.

Welcome to Soup Labs Mrs. Grose going back and forth in time with her memories confused me at first, especially concerning when Peter Quint died. But then that means Miles and Flora _were_ there when it happened and all along they knew what happened to Peter. Why didn’t they tell Mrs. Grose or Owen? @Steve Creator Dude, you don't have to do patreon, that's totally fine haha, most people don't. We were just trying to get Bly Manor out before halloween. We 100% will be finishing Umbrella, Bly, and The Boys, and then it's back to Black Sails for season 2 - corey

You can imagine how annoying this is when we're all just intently listening at a crucial part of an episode and then youtube keeps blocking it because we just had 30 straight seconds of the show playing with us not talking and then I have to do some awkward edit that cuts out crucial plot points.
