    The RT6 also gets brought up a lot:
    I think it's great, but has tint, and a worse reticle (also doesn't come with a mount)
    In all other regards it's very similar, and might have a better 1x.
    The Primary Arms 1-6x SFP did not treat me well at all. I might have gotten a bad one.

    • @BlueLoneWolf54
      @BlueLoneWolf54 Год назад +3

      The RT-6 on the Jump Gun works fine, but I'm more annoyed that if you put your head in the wrong place the illuminated reticle can appear in the blackness of the eyebox and it takes a bit of getting used to in order to find the sweet spot. Tint isn't awful, 1x is probably 1.1ish I'd guess. Reticle I don't know enough about to really say one way or another; I get to use it at ~400yrds again tomorrow. Otherwise it's fine; mine's on an Aero lightweight mount. But yes it's going to run you about another...hundred ish dollars depending on mounts and sales. Just chipping in a two cents.

      I'm a big RT-6 fan. I have a broad range of LPVOs including a Swarovski. For the money the RT6 IMO is almost impossible to beat . Bass Pro has them with the PEPR mount for around $350 regularly

      Also of course my 2 cents is more like 1 cent because I think the best scope I've ever shot through is a misc. Leupold on one of my dad's rifles he got from someone; my other true scope is a Bushnell Trophy 3-9 because that's what my LGS had when I had to replace the 336's creaking terrible old scope after I bought it.

    Good to see optics reviews from people who actually use them for what they're intended for. I see way too many reviewers just do flat range shooting and then say "it's great, look how many features it has!"
    Hop's and your content has talked me out of buying a few different products that I thought were cool because of the features on the box. I'd be interested to eventually see a list of all the scopes you recommend in the different price tiers (sub 500, 500-800, 800-1000, etc).

    Here is the problem with guntubers. As they go up in value and features, everything less becomes budget. Like driving a Ferrari, now you compare everything after that to a Ferrari. Can you get to the same place, same destination, accomplish the same outcome on a lesser vehicle than a Ferrari? Of course you can, but will it feel the same? No, does it make it have less ability to accomplish what you need from it? No, it doesn't. I'm at the point of taking everything from a guntubers mouth with a grain of salt. When you spoil yourself, you create the illusion that anything less is just not good enough. It isn't the equipment you use it is who is using it.

      I totally get where you’re coming from, but Glass is not one those things where you want to skimp. And no, $300 optics are not as useful as $600 or $900 optics. Especially once you step away from a flat range and actually have to find your target, in various lighting conditions and degrees of concealment/lighting.

    Discovered your channel about 6-8 months ago I think and have really been enjoying it. Definitely appreciate your POU (to quote the ancient lore) focused approach, long term reviews, and podcast like videos too.
    Been rocking PA SLx line scopes for quite a while and making do, but been looking to up my optics game. Got a super salty ACOG for just under 600 and think I lean LPVO still, though time will tell. Thinking about picking up the PA PLx-compact next and then I can hopefully settle for one of the two. Would love to see a review from you on the PLx-c, but you do you brother.
    Keep the content coming, you're doing great!

    Your instincts for where to put the camera are obviously good. The wide shot of you tracking the cliff top and shooting is super good. Wish it was straighter, but man is that a good use of space. The very next shot is something I also rarely see anyone try, a PVO behind the optic while mounted on the rifle. This is incredibly useful, even with the YT compression. It sucks being your own cameraman, but in the end it makes you the only one to blame for when it’s done badly, but also the only person who gets the credit for when it’s going well. This video is good, please keep pushing the visuals on these videos. The difference is becoming noticeable.

      What would you recommend ?

    • @GreenOpsInc
      @GreenOpsInc 11 месяцев назад +6

      @@Kelvin-H. Great question, but there are several out there that would meet our requirements for a typical M4 carbine. Just about any reputable scope company that makes an LPVO that has the following:
      -1x6 Power
      -Second Focal Plane - SFP
      -ACSS BDC reticle
      That being said, if your requirements are different, then you may opt for different options. First Focal Plane - FFP typically has better glass quality and is more accurate at distances, but you compromise your use of the LPVO at CQB distances. There are always going to be exceptions as an example we love the Vortex Razor, but it tends to be too much scope for the average M4 along with the Eotech Vudu. We've only seen those in FFP, but would love to see them as SFP options.
      In no particular order we'd recommend the following with SFP:
      -Sig MSR 1-6
      -PA SLx 1-6
      -Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6
      -Riton 5 TACTIX 1-6
      Of those listed, we have found the Vortex to be the least expensive. There are others out there, but our experiences have been limited to the above.

    This is spot on! I actually picked up this scope + mount for 200 bucks including tax & shipping on an open box deal. It immediately replaced my PA 1-6X SFP. I pretty much agree with all of your points. Nonetheless, I find this scope to be a quite useable on my 16" 300AAC rifle, as it will never be called upon to make shots beyond 150 yards. At the $300 price point, this scope completes a perfectly capable hog gun package, with acceptable optics at the expected ranges.

    Did a review when these first came out because I couldn't find anything on them. There's definitely a few gripes such as the housing thickness, lack of tactile clicks and also lack of ability to reset the turrets. But once you get past that stuff and realize it's still only 3-400 bucks it's really not a bad entry level LPVO. Does give some nice features like coming with the caps and mount. And yes there's an 8 and 10x. The 10 upgrades you to resetable turrets and does bump up to a 34mm tube. The 10 is also double the price but still pretty fair for the market on an entry 1-10

And there isn't a lot of reviews, or any for that matter, of the 1-6 arrowhead BDC reticle that they have. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to all of us, it has not gone unnoticed!

    I had to send in my MSR, because black flakes were bouncing around inside the scope body and obscuring the reticle. The replacement unit had a dented tube, which I promptly sent back. Third scope was GTG, but I wasn't a fan of the eyebox and clarity. Loved the reticle, tho. Sold it and bought an RT6.

    For a budget scope, I think it’s awesome, bought mine on sale was able to use a discount code and picked it up for $211.00 shipped. Best $200 scope with mount included and has leveling lines that pair up with mount so you can level it without all the effort. Does the job and has good glass in my opinion for 200 bucks. Has decent reticle, not a big fan of the big black lines.
    I have 2 Steiners so I know what good glass is and over 3k in cost between both. I bought the msr for a build I can beat the crap of it without worry and this thing has been thrown around, in the mud, rained on and slid around in the bed of my truck and this thing is still rockin and rollin. For a budget scope I think it’s the best one. I bought a strike eagle and sold it, not worth it, you have to be perfectly behind it for you to get a clear image without shadow, sig msr is way better and comes with mount.

Got it for $404 shipped and I'm really hoping it lives up to all the hype I've heard about their fiber reticle and "German" glass (I've heard it's most likely a German-Chinese hybrid, but still excellent for the price point)...I passed on the Primary Arms 1-6x24mm Gen4 ACSS Nova Fiber and the Sig Tango MSR w/ canti. mount for $350... hope I made the right choice 🤞🏽😅

    I have the humble Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x24mm and it has served me very well at 100m and closer, can even strech out to 125-150m if ya really want to push it. wish they made a CFII 1-6 for around a similar price point. my only gripes are that i wish that illumination was an option with all the reticles, not just the v-brite, and that it came from factory with a throw lever
    Edit: 10:57 - where in the hell are you gonna find a decent red dot AND a holosun mag for $300ish? the HM3X is $400+ itself, and a decent red dot will set ya back at least $200+

    This is why I’m still on the red dot+magnifier train. Quality LPVOs are expensive, and honestly not really thaaaaat durable. You can now get a red dot that is plenty sufficient in all the relative categories for less than $300, and there are good magnifiers in the $200-$300 price range.
    In this price bracket, you are limited to 3x, but that will do just fine in many situations, and if you really need the extra magnification there are more options out there.
    The 1x is just about perfect, and the 3x is great as well. You can remove the magnifier to ditch some weight swinging from target to target, and for use with night vision.
    I think we were a bit too ready to jump on the LPVO default optic train. I do hope more effort is put in to minimizing the downsides of LOVOs tho.

    I'm an optical engineer, if the pupil at the target (exit) side is 24mm you can only magnify 3-4x before you're sending less light than your pupil is designed for. You can goose this a little further but past ~6x, if you don't open up the exit pupil, all you're doing is making things larger, not clearer. Brass is on point here, if you want more that means bigger lenses (more material and smaller lot sizes), more machine time for the housing, and significantly greater engineering investment because you can't let theoretical optical performance go to crap at higher magnification ratios (because now you're filling the shooter's pupil... there's some deep wave/particle physics involved here, look up f/number of you want a laymen's version). 1-6x is about all I'd recommend unless the business end gets larger.

    • @BrassFacts
      @BrassFacts  Год назад +3

      I have a pretty big video that im in the scripting stages of discussing the math behind exit pupil, the physics need for a 1x. And how fundamentally a 10x or even 8x lpvo don't actually make sense as the design criteria are at odds with the physics of the scope
