idk why, but it proper rattled me the way Lyés was on here talking about Mané 😂😂. purely based off watching FTBL content and the occasional other podcast: Lyes' football knowledge is deep, he's a good on camera personality, and has balanced takes -- so this seemed out of character. it felt personal how hard he was cooking him for physical decline in a season that he's been battling injury, had an operation, and missed his last chance at playing in a WC. all players age and have to adapt their games and secure their final bags -- i don't remember him cooking CR7 until it went to shit at United (or the way he's always riding for Neymar, which I agree with!).
That Neymar and Vinicius comparison doesn’t make sense to me. Look at Barcelona ever since Neymar left, they’ve been bad for large parts. Madrid are still and always continue to be at the top level, especially in Europe. Also, Barcelona literally had Messi, as Lyes said, Vinicius is probably the main man right now. People are blind to it, but Neymar at PSG when it comes to ball dominance, playmaking, passing, chance creation, dribbling, G/A etc. has gone up a level compared to Barcelona and this is a fact. Rodrygo was so good as well, his technical ability and link up with Benzema was insane. Edit: Neymar and Vinicius’ play styles are completely different too. Neymar drops deep, has way more touches per game, and is also a much better passer/playmaker etc. Vinicius and Messi in the same team doesn’t hinder Vinicius, Neymar to reach his peak/prime wasn’t ever going to with Messi because of how similar their play styles are.

The thing abt mané is tht he apparently also was screaming at nagelsmann in front of the team after not being started couple of weeks back. I get the impression that maybe he’s moving a bit mad because even when he has played he’s not been great at Bayern and he’s like taking out his frustrations abt tht on the Team. Tbh the transfer in itself didn’t make sense to me at the time, because Bayern just didn’t need this type of player. In the beginning of the season Nagelsmann tried to play this weird system w/ a bunch of attackers without a striker (also no false 9), so tht way a lot of the offensive players could play, but it didn’t rly work for several reasons, so Nagelsmann went back to a system w/ Choupo as the striker and imo Bayern play their best this way (it’s kind of funny because I feel like it’s similar w/ our national team… like Sané/Musiala/Gnabry & co perform better in a system w/ a recognized striker in front of them, even if said striker isn’t necessarily world class). Mané hasn’t been as good as the other offensive players so when he’s been fit he either couldn’t get into the team or has been disappointing (flashes of Werner as well because the only goals he scores are offside).
