    • @ERICSDIYGARAGE
      @ERICSDIYGARAGE  Год назад +2

      The overflow tank is for coolant that gets pushed out of the radiator when the car starts to overheat. Most of the time the system doesn't work well to suck the coolant back in so I don't go based on that. You should be filling the radiator through the fill neck in front of the radiator. Use a coolant bleeding funnel and slowly add coolant to the funnel when its full turn on the car and let it idle for about 30 minutes. Once in a while hold the rpms at 2k for like 1 minute but be careful to not overheat. After 30 minutes let it set and cool back down once its cool check the level of coolant by opening the radiator fill neck cap and top it off if needed once its filled close the system and let it idle again and wait for the car to complete a cycle of the fans turning on and off.

    • @DTUFINOPhotography
      @DTUFINOPhotography Год назад

      @@ERICSDIYGARAGE Yeah my issue is thought that once the engine cools down the coolant does not get sucked back into the rad. I'm going to pour some tye and use a UV light to see if i have a tiny leak in the system that i cant see with my eye.

    If you’re not going to take the whole hose off you’d better be careful removing that broken pieces of plastic. If one of those goes down the hose into the heater core you’re in for a very expensive fix if it gets lodged and can’t be back flushed out.

    • @ERICSDIYGARAGE
      @ERICSDIYGARAGE  11 месяцев назад +1

      What I do is squeeze the hose with the broken tube inside still since it's brittle it always breaks apart and point the hose down and the remaining plastic comes out once I have it out I stick my finger in to double check that nothing was left behind

      If it's been 8 months with no issues than you probably got lucky but whenever your vehicle turns of on you it's the last stand to keep your head gasket from blowing up but if you would of ignored it and kept driving it would of forsure messed it up glad you got lucky

      I would probably replace it next time you change coolant. like I said in the video, the owner had just replaced it with a brand new OEM part and it broke in less han 10 miles.
