A few observations on the game :- 1. United keep giving balls away, especially those from Onana. 2. When we lose the ball, our players from midfield and forward are not sprinting back, unlike Liverpool. 3. Our wingers are not imposing themselves in the game, offensively and defensively 3. Casimero and Mainoo cannot play together. Both are slow running back. Need at least one who have pace and aggression. 4. We are too slow in moving ball and running into space.
After sleeping on it, I'm even more fuming. Casemiro will keep getting exposed, Rashford will keep getting selected. Until these two, along with Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof are gone then the same problems will keep resurfacing. As Bruno's post-match comments highlight; too much respect is awarded to mediocrity. If these are the examples players are looking to, then we're doomed. He read the game well and intercepted many attacks down the right, attacks that started through our lack of control in midfield. He, and Martinez were eventual overwhelmed, understandably, as they had zero protection from the midfield. He is far more mobile than Maguire, he can anticipate situations better, he can defend properly, has much more composure, so yea definitely better than Maguire.
Bruno was crap yesterday, he should have gone in and sat in with mainoo and casimero after 15 minutes, get some control back as a leader we need that. I could not imagine Robson or Keane not grabbing the midfield by the scruff of the neck.

I don't particularly like Jamie Carragher, or agree with a lot of things he says about Manchester United, however this is the start of ETH's 3rd season as manager of Man Utd. So far, we've not seen a year-on-year improvement in terms of league position or the quality of football played. Carragher said Klopp got Liverpool into a Champions League final in his 3rd season. I really don't see how ETH can turn this club around. If results don't improve soon, and we've got big games coming up including Villa, Spurs and Chelsea, ETH won't last beyond October. I seriously think now, we are flogging a dead horse with ETH.

It wasn't ETH's "tactics". It was simply the players selected. A midfield three of Bruno, Mainoo and Casemiro was never going to compete against a much more physical trio from Liverpool. Faster, stronger, more mobile. If we don't have the players we need to get numbers in that area, go 4-4-2 or even 4-5-1to ensure that we don't get over run in midfield. Casemiro should never start a Premier League game again, his legs simply aren't up to it any more. He might have a use in a cup competition, depending on the opposition

I strongly recommend MU fans watch the game again. After watching it live, like most of you, I was furious with what I saw as the errors and poor running of Casemiro. Re-watching it objectively, Casemiro was not the main culprit - far from that, he contributed positively for the 45 minutes he played. He also made some excellent passes and his work rate was good. Yes, he made some significant errors but poorer performing players overall were Rashford, Zirkzee and Fernandez - with a special mention for our resident clown, Onana. Martinez also was a liability most of the time. But on reflection, keeping Casemiro on for the second half would have been wise. It was a really fast game and both teams were entertaining. I rarely can bring myself to re-Watch a defeat but it’s amazing what you see when the red mist dissipates. Liverpool are really good, and United have a ways to go to get to an acceptable level - but they have all the tools to get there. Playing out from the back is really weak and we need Garnacho on the left with Amad on the right. Enough of Rashford please!

Yeah, they're individual errors but ETH picks the line-up, he heads the coaching team. Goal #1 - it's been noted that the utd fbs were already too high up (ETH's coaching). Casemiro's pass to Gravenberch might not have been quite so problematic if those fbs had been a little further back to help contain Salah / contest the cross with Sloppysly and Diaz. It IS everyone's fault but the lion's share of the blame should end with the manager I'd say (as do the plaudits when the good times come).

There was another option. We should have taken Casemiro off and pushed Martinez into midfield. Maguire or Evans in at CB. Martinez can play the DM position screening the back 4. The young lad had no chance - unfair.
I personally do not want an ex player taking over. We have been there. I saw no effort yesterday. Not picking on one single player, but this situation needs addressing and needs doing so quickly. So, in his 3rd year I'm still not judging him and I haven't seen what Ten Hag can do, if next summer is as positive as this one then he may be in a position for me to judge by the start of Y4. Whoever is on the pitch, we should never be 1 misplaced pass away from looking like conceding a goal. That’s bad positioning of the players on the pitch. It’s like a chess match. The managers instructions are leaving the players exposed. Other teams misplace passes too. They don’t look like conceding a goal every single time that happens like we do
Liverpool did a few times in the exact same part of the pitch but no one remembers that because nothing came from it. Just gave United possession, not an overload with high chance of a goal.

I don't particularly like Jamie Carragher, or agree with a lot of things he says about Manchester United, however this is the start of ETH's 3rd season as manager of Man Utd. So far, we've not seen a year-on-year improvement in terms of league position or the quality of football played. Carragher said Klopp got Liverpool into a Champions League final in his 3rd season. I really don't see how ETH can turn this club around. If results don't improve soon, and we've got big games coming up including Villa, Spurs and Chelsea, ETH won't last beyond October. I seriously think now, we are flogging a dead horse with ETH.

It wasn't ETH's "tactics". It was simply the players selected. A midfield three of Bruno, Mainoo and Casemiro was never going to compete against a much more physical trio from Liverpool. Faster, stronger, more mobile. If we don't have the players we need to get numbers in that area, go 4-4-2 or even 4-5-1to ensure that we don't get over run in midfield. Casemiro should never start a Premier League game again, his legs simply aren't up to it any more. He might have a use in a cup competition, depending on the opposition

I strongly recommend MU fans watch the game again. After watching it live, like most of you, I was furious with what I saw as the errors and poor running of Casemiro. Re-watching it objectively, Casemiro was not the main culprit - far from that, he contributed positively for the 45 minutes he played. He also made some excellent passes and his work rate was good. Yes, he made some significant errors but poorer performing players overall were Rashford, Zirkzee and Fernandez - with a special mention for our resident clown, Onana. Martinez also was a liability most of the time. But on reflection, keeping Casemiro on for the second half would have been wise. It was a really fast game and both teams were entertaining. I rarely can bring myself to re-Watch a defeat but it’s amazing what you see when the red mist dissipates. Liverpool are really good, and United have a ways to go to get to an acceptable level - but they have all the tools to get there. Playing out from the back is really weak and we need Garnacho on the left with Amad on the right. Enough of Rashford please!

How are two mistakes from Casemiro, one from Mainoo and Zirkzee missing two sitters Ten Hag's fault? I don't think he is blameless but we are not at the races.
Yeah, they're individual errors but ETH picks the line-up, he heads the coaching team. Goal #1 - it's been noted that the utd fbs were already too high up (ETH's coaching). Casemiro's pass to Gravenberch might not have been quite so problematic if those fbs had been a little further back to help contain Salah / contest the cross with Sloppysly and Diaz.
It IS everyone's fault but the lion's share of the blame should end with the manager I'd say (as do the plaudits when the good times come).

There was another option. We should have taken Casemiro off and pushed Martinez into midfield. Maguire or Evans in at CB. Martinez can play the DM position screening the back 4. The young lad had no chance - unfair.
I personally do not want an ex player taking over. We have been there. I saw no effort yesterday. Not picking on one single player, but this situation needs addressing and needs doing so quickly. One loss leads to 2 losses before you know it we are back to playing catch-up. Also, I would like to say this, I see nothing in Bruno that makes me think Captain. People use the word tactics, like you can waive a magic wand, what tactics guys, tell us all what you would do, who would you sub when our forwards are shit and so is the midfield. What about effort, discipline and intelligence. This is rinse and repeat for 11 years, 5th manager, so what’s your answer? Explain what you mean by tactics. The defenders progress with the ball and there’s nobody available. When they do get it into midfield or attack, there is nothing that gets done, it was the same as last year. I’m not defending the manager, just saying that spouting off about tactics this and tactics that when 7/11 players have poor performances, week in and week out, says what? Who is the answer as manager then? I’m telling you as a former coach that you can’t employ anything tactically if the players can’t perform and if the players don’t want to perform. Casemiro, Eriksen, Rashford, Bruno, Garnacho and soon Mainoo are not cut out for this level of intensity and definitely not good enough to win the league. The only thing we could do is low block and counter, with what we have. I looked at the fixture list and found it difficult to see 8 or more wins by January. Anyone who thought we would be top four is delusional and even 6th is optimistic. Why can’t people accept that this is a rebuild. It’s funny how people whine and say play this kid, play that kid, and when they get played and don’t perform it’s a problem. Totally agree. We were in such a mess when Ten Hag came in he has been battling to sort that out ever since, I'm amazed he found time to manage and achieve what he has. I said I wouldn't judge him until the mess is close to sorted and it still isn't, we haven't got rid of all the deadwood and haven't got enough reasonable quality replacements. So, in his 3rd year I'm still not judging him and I haven't seen what Ten Hag can do, if next summer is as positive as this one then he may be in a position for me to judge by the start of Y4. I'm fed up of good managers failing because it was impossible to achieve in our circus, remember, Mourinho said 2nd and Europa League was his greatest achievement, says it all!! If I were asked to compete in an F1 race in a go Kart I'd just laugh at the request, in my opinion some people are expecting Ten Hag to do the same with an inferior squad quality and size to many of the clubs battling for top 4.
