Yuval is such an amazing guy! Every time I hear him in conversation I’m inspired. I wish the leaders of the world would turn to him for wisdom…maybe we’d all get better faster

Religion was imposed on me since childhood but more recently I was on the fence about it after reading Sapiens, l called it quits on any kind of religious beliefs l think for good.
I love listening to yuval he is amazing .

I believe what 'Sapiens: A Graphic History' is going to do is spread the knowledge of our history. What we find is big ideas explained simply. Most importantly to a younger much smarter generation. When knowledge can bridge gaps of understanding that is when its most powerful.

8 minutes and I already can stop the video and reflect for one hour about what Yuval said about LA and modern life :)
I appreciate how Judd is able to correlate Yuval's sweeping historic perspective with our current events. "Our identities are based on the stories we believe." And that's pretty much what's happening in the USA today. There seems to be no consensus reality. This is well covered in Kurt Andersen's book "Fantasy Land-How America Went Haywire."

I love how Judd keeps seeking his own answers about spirituality and development, I've been in touch with is background in comedy since teen years and it's beautiful witness is journey and allways learning.
I find a conversation with a comedian lets Yuval let loose, less guarded, more flowing, better than with another intellectual. %^)
I am being in AHA moment for last 3 days when I heard Yuval first time on a podcast with Tim Ferris. It was a kind of life long release of so many emotions. I was in awe, I was nodding like crazy in a park, I was laughing. Then I got greedy and looked around on RUclips And it’s like I have discovered treasure. Going back a year, when I picked up “ 21 lessons for 21st century”, my first Yuval book. And it influenced me but also forced me to look at the reality which was a bit frightening. Still haven’t completed the book. Now can’t stop listening to you. Omg, what perspective in what a simple language!

It's a brilliant book! As an adult, I kind of wish I had come across something like this while I was growing up :) So, I make it a point to gift this to younger people in my family and friend circle. Hence , when we observed our breathes all other fleeting thoughts are stilled. Allowing our minds much needed rest. If you enjoyed reading Harari, you'd certainly also enjoy Carl Sagan's books! Have you read him? I'd recommend The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark. It changed my way of thinking just as much as Sapiens. Hope you have a great new year!

@Jeff Maylor That doesn't mean he agrees with what is on the shelf. If you are intellectually honest, you should read stuff you disagree with from time to time to test the strength of your own arguments. If you study the usefulness of fictions you should probably read about them. See why it works, why it doesn't. What is useful or toxic about it, etc.

When I watch history channels, I get recommendations for that. When I watch science, I get that. If he's seeing dark stuff, it's his fault for choosing it.

when humans gather to cooperate, other people usually die. I think we should focus on individuality. destructive individuals are a lot easier to stop to than collective evil.
Why should we stop pandemics. This one has been great for the ruling class. Ask the world's richest man.
You could also have benefited from the crisis, everyone is able to buy shares. I did and took advantage of recent share growth. It's not about being elite. It's about taking advantage of opportunities.
At 10:45 Yuval says it is very risky terrotory to describe people's motivations rather than events, and that it is better to ask the nationalists why they have their opinion. But what did he do just two minutes earler? He said that all these nationalists (maybe specifically the leaders) have their opinions because they are confused, hate foreigners and that they ON PURPOSE do everything they can to devide people.
Then he talks about paying taxes honestly (who decides what is honest? (I'm not talking about Trump specifically)). Sounds to me like he is describing socialism or some altruism or something like that, and says that that SHOULD be what nationalism is about. Call your own ideas for what they are.
One of the aspects about nationalism is promoting the interest of one's nation and keeping its sovereignty. Another is to create a sense of national identity. Well, look at the countries he is talking shit about in Europe. EU has made many countries lose a lot of their sovereignty. EU wants people to move freely within EU's "borders", while at the same time forcing countries to take "refugees". I live in Sweden, and I can tell you from personal experience (and countless others) that it is completely idiotic to take in refugees like we did and allow EU to govern us. If you can't understand that having nationalist opinions could be an appropriate response for some, then you just lack the ability to see things from other people's eyes.
And is it really the republicans who only care about themselves and are trying to devide? Just look at the democrats and how they have behaved the last 4-5 years. Both the politicians and their most radical supporters. They might talk about unity, but you have to be a fool to believe they want that or that they really care about others.
It seems to me that Yuval is always making up some made up straw man position that his opponent has. He should take his own advide and just listen a bit, because he clearly has his biases (globalist).

I appreciate Yuval's sincere attempt to make science assessing, however, I want people to be able to "reverse the process" i.e., reverse the process and do the research and critical thinking to engage in and or produce more complex content.

For sure, it's a tool everyone needs. But at some point, even for the most intellectually oriented person out there, it is physically impossible to be an expert on every field. No matter who you are, at some point or another, you are putting a little bit of faith on a system. I am not a doctor and I will never learn more about the human body than a doctor will, however I am more than happy to trust a doctor with my life, because, while I do not know as much as the human body as they do, I do know what they had to do to graduate as a doctor and I also know how scientific papers are peer reviewed and how vaccines are tested, I also know about the penalties societies impose on those who are lying about the above. Perhaps a better way for him to put it would have been "informed trust" rather than "faith", but I get his point.

"It won't be us." Yeah, given the rate of digital progress, I'm not so sure about that, Yuval. In 20 years...I just don't know. In 40 years, which I have probably got in me...I REALLY don't know. That's a long-ass time today.
Yuval needs to simply listen to Milton Friedman's story about the pencil. Yuval says millions must cooperate, but they DO NOT, as pointed out by Adam Smith. Each person going out their own lives and making their lives as good as they can, the outcome is pencils, it's nuclear energy, it's computers and TV shows and food production and global trade. There's nobody coordinating these. There's no central story that makes English the correct and final language.
There are ZERO instances of millions of people working together following a given story line. That's just now how global trade and society works. There is no leader to tell the baker to bake or me to buy the baked goods.
There is no central plan, central story, that binds us to a common cause. Nope, each of us goes about our lives. Even the best "good deeds" come from like-minded, free people choosing to work together to solve a given problem or help a given set of people. Government just gets in the way of free people helping and innovating. Government can provide a framework where liberty and free exchange and free choice and property rights are maintained. But it can't be moral whenever it uses force/coercion to achieve the goals of a small set of elites paid for by the masses, often hidden with debt or inflation, stories that trick good people into believing obedience and submission to authority achieves better outcomes than motivated people who freely choose their lives.
