I actually had #4. It was my very first credit card. I got it at age 18 when I knew absolutely NOTHING about credit cards except that you had to pay the money back. My meager 500 dollar credit limit was quickly ran up and over. My credit went to shit very early in life. I somehow managed to pay it and cancel the credit card. I’m 34 now with excellent credit and ALWAYS remember that Premiere Gold card when thinking about opening any new line of credit. The best thing about the card was that it allowed me to learn the wrong thing early so that I had time to fix it. I survived one of the cards on this list and lived to tell about it 😂😂😂
I made the mistake to apply and get the credit one credit card, I just cannot wait to make my last payment on it and close the account. Everything he said is absolutely right, they have so many charges it’s insane! I lost my card and called to for a replacement and they charged me $25 for a new card 😑
I once applied to credit one, got approved for $700, first bill was the annual fee $75, called the company and explained I wanted to close it immediately, try to tell me they couldn’t without paying the fee but I argued and explained that my card was not activated or charged and one the battle...they canceled my card but wanted to offer a higher limit ....I told them NO!!
I had the credit one card twice and the first time it repaired my credit but man this second time it destroyed mine... they hound me day in and day out for payments, (lost my job for a bit and recently got another one) and man do they keep tacking on all the ridiculous late fees, you are right about their payments...nightmare... and don't get me started on their JOKE of customer service. SO DISGUSTED WITH THEM. awful. I have been treated so much better at Capital One and will continue to have my business there. Thanks for the video !!! You have a new subbie!
i'm sorry that you lost your job for a bit.... but credit one is not in the business of sympathy.... no bank is. they ant their payments. the fact that you build your credit initially because of them says that they are pretty good.
Thankfully haven't had issues with Credit One within the first year... hope it stays that way. Update: They are spamming me every hour to accept their new card offer and to raise my credit limit and I had offer notifications turned off. NOPE.
Yes! I am just rebuilding. I watch my account like a hawk for unnecessary little charges, $1.09 for what? I paid the annual fee immediately and made only 2 charges, paid immediately. It stays at a 0 balance and ignore the offers.
Credit One also asks if you want to raise your credit limit (multiple times per year). This is very bad if someone doesn't know how to use credit properly as it gets them farther and farther into debt.
I had a CreditOne card for a very short time. I paid it off in full. Then they changed the annual membership fee date without telling me. I then got mail (yes, snail mail) that I owned them the membership and late fee. Called them up angry, very unhappily paid them their dirty money, and force them to close the card. Yuck.
I filed bankruptcy from medical debt, had the credit one card for 11 months, cancelled it, and it raised my credit score 100 points just from spending $100 a month and paying it off right away. I now have a chase and capital one travel reward cards with no annual fee and a credit score in the 700's all within 3.5 years after filing. They can be helpful if you have no other option like I did.
There might be fake ones out there but real one do exist contact *@Darkjacob* on *telegram* he is the real vendor, I got my cc with high balance from him yesterday 🙏
Actually Credit One had that logo first back in 2002 when they first started. The worst on is the indigo MasterCard 39.99 % annual fee 99.00 monthly billing fee 8.00. I have Credit One had no problems and 49.00 annual fee.
Credit one may not be the best card in the world, but if you hm are trying to build your credit and can't get approved by other banks it is a good option. Credit One helped me build my credit from around 550 to 640 in less than a year.
There might be fake ones out there but real one do exist contact *@Darkjacob* on *telegram* he is the real vendor, I got my cc with high balance from him yesterday 🙏
From 2005 to 2008, i used CreditOne credit card to build my score from 525 to 750. After that i canceled it. I applied for many credit cards but got declined. CreditOne accepted me. CreditOne used to be calld Bank of Marin. So yea, thats my experience. Now my credit good enough to buy a house, im looking for a home to buy at this moment.
Got the first premier platinum and I’ve come to realize they set the bar high on fees to teach responsibility for those trying to fix their credit and not ball out with it. Most people don’t realize that you should keep a $0 balance every month and spend 30% and under. But that’s my point of view. The 36% interest doesn’t scare me because I don’t flex with my cards and keep my balance under $100 therefore they’re easy to pay off
I had no credit in my late 20's due to avoiding cards in my youth and using cash exclusively. Naturally I had no real debt other than a car payment. Upon looking at purchasing a home I realized avoiding credit was a double edged sword. I began with a Credit One card quite simply because I didn't know any better and it was easy... I qualified. I used the card minimally and paid the balance of in full monthly. After approx 12 months and a few other basic steps I was approved and purchased my home. So as bad as the card is it can be useful if you're responsible. In retrospect had I done a little research I probably wouldn't have applied for that specific card. Nonetheless it helped me.
There are better ways to build credit. Best thing to do when starting out is get a secured card with no annual fees. Companies like credit one and first premier are just out there trying to rip people off.
@@gainonten4031 You make a security deposit of let’s say $500 and the credit card issuer gives you a credit card with a $500 limit. Check out the RUclips channel named “Magnified Money.” It’s run by a guy named Brendan. He makes great videos on financial products.
It's sad that our country will allow a shyster like Credit One to effectively build a paywall for themselves around a home purchase. I would have looked into a bank portfolio home purchase loan.
It was a girl on Instagram a few days ago posted that she received that Mastercard -Black Card offer in the mail & she was so happy, saying you have to have perfect credit to get the card & a few people commented saying how that card was bad & wasn't worth the annual $495 fee
@@freerunnersunion_________90 It only hurts you if the age of the account is years old (i.e. more than a year to a year and a half old) and your credit to debt ratio. But if it was me that had one (not that I would in the first place), and can get an unsecured no annual fee card with a good credit limit within say the first year, I'd close the account to get rid of the fee's even if it meant taking a couple point hit on my score. But I'd open the new account first. I would not pay $99 a year just to hold onto the card.
I had a bad history with poor credit. CreditOne was the only company that was willing to take a chance on me. I knew I was going to get destroyed by fees and high interest rates. I accepted that because I was starting my credit rebuilding journey, and what a journey it has been. I would never advise anyone with 700+ credit to go for this card. However, if you were like me and wanted somewhere to start building your credit so that you could move on to better cards down the line, then this was a great option in all honesty. I still have the card today, and am thankful that they took a shot on me. Moral of the story is just pay your bills in full on time and manage your money correctly, but I didn't learn this lesson early enough in life. Love the videos by the way.

I wish I had this knowledge years ago. The worst thing is how all these companies take advantage of people who were or are having issues. That’s why when I went to build My Credit, I got the Capital One Platinum Card with No annual fee. It has been A Savor for me , I was interested in the Black Card till I saw the fee and was like nope .
I actually applied for a First Premier Card and right after I got accepted I had to pay $40 to get my card or being apart of the company. Then I checked on my account and they asked me to pay $125 a year! Thank god I caught it and canceled my card right away!
I actually have a credit one credit card, it was actually my first credit card, got a pre qualification letter and everything and I was lucky enough to get a $0 annual fee but a high apy which I don’t mind since I pay my credit card balances in full
We accidentally got one of these because we mistook it for a Cap 1. Grrr! One bright side, we got a huge limit. One thing to keep in mind, they start charging interest on purchases from the day you use it. It’s really annoying.
I have never had a problem with Credit One. They waived my fees, including the monthly charge. I just called them and requested them to drop all the extra fees. They did. While using this credit card I rebuilt my credit scores to 826, 800 and 772.
So I’m late to this video so I don’t even know if you will see this. I canceled my card mid video, recorded the conversation, screen shot the time frame so u don’t get screwed. Thanks bro.
Some of these cards are usefull to build a credit history if you move into the credit score system. You can't just apply for any card. You may be better of if you go to your old bank (which have offices in the US) and apply for their card, but it takes time as they need to manually convert your old credit score to your new credit score.
CreditOne actually had the swoop logo first, while CapitalOne's marketing team was too far down the road making pretty much the same logo. Kinda unfortunate
It's amazing the things you can get away with if you simply get someone to sign a contract. There is the assumption that you can't be taken advantage of if you agreed to it. That's simply not true. No one in their right mind would get the first 4 cards (the last one someone might get just because it's shiny). The only way they get someone to sign an objectively bad contract is through manipulation, which I would consider against the notion of a person's freedom to contract. A false 'you' is signing the contract - the 'you' that has been deceived or manipulated into a false state of mind about reality. This is no different from a person with schizophrenia signing a contract ethically speaking.
I just got a credit one unsecured card, but im managing my expectations with the card.. It boosted my transunion literally 60 points when it posted so the $75 annual fee was money well spent in my opinion.
Why don't you pay everything with your credit card and just pay it off right away so you get the benefits while building credit? Even if I you don't care about building credit (I guess you plan on buying your home in cash or renting your whol life) You should still buy with your credit card assuming there are no fees And you pay on time otherwise you are literally and I do mean LITERALLY lol giving money away ...why? I get thousands of dollars in rewards this year and every year and have great credit....
Credit one is awful. I had one years ago when my credit was crap. I closed it as soon as my credit improved. I didn't even care about the hit on my credit. I didn't want that card!
I had Credit One for about eight months. Got an offer from Capital One, approved for a $1000, called credit one to cancel the account and the rep ask me why I’m canceling the account. Simply flat out told him because the bank you guys tried to rip off from, approve me $1000 limit.
Got a Credit One card as one of my first credit cards. Over the years I aquired nicer cards and as my credit was established pretty much all my cards now have a $5000 plus limit. Credit one still caps me at $750😂😂😂
I hate CreditOne, got it when I was 18 when I had no idea about anything relating to credit. Basically only keeping it open because it’s my oldest credit line. They even sent me a check in the mail claiming I won a cash prize. I read the fine print and it said something along the lines of if it was cashed it would be charged with 40% interest. Avoid this company at all costs lol
I ALMOST got it. I found out it wasn't capital one (I already had platinum at the time so I was confused ) when I looked to see the terms, conditions and rewards. And then I saw the name. Yay reading

Don't live outside your means. Only buy with the card what you can pay off as soon as the payment clears and pay it off before it even goes to statement.
NOPE.
Violetta Amaryllis Their American Express branded card actually seems pretty good, though it has a $39 annual fee.
I got screwed with credit one. I applied thinking I was applying for capital one . I'm pissed at my self.
😓
Very good IF they understand utilization % and how to keep them low
I'd rather them ask than to just do it like my VS card. Still working on paying it off
Omg Graham is stepping up his comedic game 😂🤣 when you clapped and changed your outfit hahah. Love it 👏👏👍👍
Haha thanks!!
I love my Kardashian diamond Platinum Debit Card.
The 250% APR and $150 monthly Fee are worth it
I have the Kardashian C.C. also, it's Phat!
What’s the website to apply?
I had a CreditOne card for a very short time. I paid it off in full. Then they changed the annual membership fee date without telling me. I then got mail (yes, snail mail) that I owned them the membership and late fee.
Called them up angry, very unhappily paid them their dirty money, and force them to close the card. Yuck.
99codemister thank you for telling me I’m dealing with them
I filed bankruptcy from medical debt, had the credit one card for 11 months, cancelled it, and it raised my credit score 100 points just from spending $100 a month and paying it off right away. I now have a chase and capital one travel reward cards with no annual fee and a credit score in the 700's all within 3.5 years after filing. They can be helpful if you have no other option like I did.
Truth is, options are limited for some people and companies take advantage of people with poor credit
When you are holding your breath to see if any of your credit cards are on Graham list
Christina Moultak luckily I just got discover it , capital one quiksilver and PayPal credit not the best choices but defiantly not as bad as these
Bootleg Credit One lmao 😂
😜
Surge and total are just as bad as credit1.

Wow! I can't thank you enough. I'm victim of CreditOne, and I'm still struggling to get out of their trap.

Carmeliter Peter's please tell me what telegram is!?

Actually Credit One had that logo first back in 2002 when they first started. The worst on is the indigo MasterCard 39.99 % annual fee 99.00 monthly billing fee 8.00. I have Credit One had no problems and 49.00 annual fee.
Just why? There are better cards out there with no annual fee!
Bad credit... it’s the only reason I have it too.
Chris Lemaster same, this card has built my credit to where it’s at today.
Credit one may not be the best card in the world, but if you hm are trying to build your credit and can't get approved by other banks it is a good option. Credit One helped me build my credit from around 550 to 640 in less than a year.
So the last two are the "Wolf of Wall Street" Credit Cards
There might be fake ones out there but real one do exist contact *@Darkjacob* on *telegram* he is the real vendor, I got my cc with high balance from him yesterday 🙏
From 2005 to 2008, i used CreditOne credit card to build my score from 525 to 750. After that i canceled it. I applied for many credit cards but got declined. CreditOne accepted me. CreditOne used to be calld Bank of Marin. So yea, thats my experience. Now my credit good enough to buy a house, im looking for a home to buy at this moment.
Troy Tanw yeah but you could of just used opensky or Bank of America secured

I’m so embarrassed... I had these cards
Had to start somewhere.
Nothing to be ashamed about. Falling down is part of life getting back up is living. Keep going.
Got the first premier platinum and I’ve come to realize they set the bar high on fees to teach responsibility for those trying to fix their credit and not ball out with it. Most people don’t realize that you should keep a $0 balance every month and spend 30% and under. But that’s my point of view. The 36% interest doesn’t scare me because I don’t flex with my cards and keep my balance under $100 therefore they’re easy to pay off
You're giving them too much credit. They're simply a predatory sub prime issuer. They know most people are gonna be irresponsible with their cards.
How does this man make personal finance interesting? It’s a miracle. Love your videos graham!
Most credit cards are renewed every 3 years, so you will actually be paying $3000 for the 0.1 ounce or less of gold plating on the Gold MasterCard LOL
I liked the idea of reviewing the worst cards because you usually see reviews about what cards to get but seldom with what you should not get.
@@antman674 can you expand more on what it means a secured card?
@@gainonten4031 You make a security deposit of let’s say $500 and the credit card issuer gives you a credit card with a $500 limit. I have the Discover student cash back card and I absolutely love it. Discover has a secured credit card as an option.
These are cards you get when you’re in rough shape. Keep them for a year and close them. The idea is these cards are to be replaced.
Romeo Barnes I just build my credit about 7 months so after a year do you think is OK to close them?
Except closing cards hurts credit score
@@freerunnersunion_________90 It only hurts you if the age of the account is years old (i.e. more than a year to a year and a half old) and your credit to debt ratio. But if it was me that had one (not that I would in the first place), and can get an unsecured no annual fee card with a good credit limit within say the first year, I'd close the account to get rid of the fee's even if it meant taking a couple point hit on my score. But I'd open the new account first. I would not pay $99 a year just to hold onto the card.
Never, never close an credit card account! It negatively effects your credit.
I concur. same here.
Luckily there’s credit cards where you put a deposit so you don’t have to get a crappy offer. Also petal is great.
I agree. It was the same for me. I pay what I use right back and my credit has been rocking and rolling. Don't sleep on them.
Awesome . . . Awesome . . . AWESOME job with this video, Graham! Thank you for all the work that you did (research) putting this together. I don't even understand why these tactics are legal. I appreciate you!

I wish I had this knowledge years ago. The worst thing is how all these companies take advantage of people who were or are having issues. It seems unfair for people but when you feel you dont have a choice to be able to live it can look good at first. The worst part to is it trying to get out of the situation when you realize too late that your even in it. Thanks Grahm for the info, wish I knew things sooner!

Accidentally got the credit one card because I thought it was a capital one card, they really got me and now I'm paying for it smh
This is why I love RUclips. I hope these credit card issuers are watching this video and realizing what they've done is bad and need to do better. Thank you.
Lol I feel so ungrateful right now Graham, you spent so much time looking for horrible cards! I literally recommend your channel to anything that breathes thank you for the videos!

Wow! Just wow! Nothing but scammers!! Love the vids👍🏼

@@braedenpokar9956 I've actually considered it but its my oldest line of credit :/
We accidentally got one of these because we mistook it for a Cap 1. Grrr! One bright side, we got a huge limit. One thing to keep in mind, they start charging interest on purchases from the day you use it. It’s really annoying.
I had capital one for a few years. My credit score went to 765 then I switched to CITI Bank for a much better card.
Wise choice.
I have never had a problem with Credit One. They waived my fees, including the monthly charge. I just called them and requested them to drop all the extra fees. They did. While using this credit card I rebuilt my credit scores to 826, 800 and 772.
Try to start out with good credit cards to begin with. I did a video on at least 12 of the best ones out right now. That should prove helpful to you.
Personally, I like the Citi Double Cash card.
At this point I may as well make a v-bucks-only credit card with 40% APR

So does Capital One...
I love your comedic and informative finance videos so much. I am hooked!

Some of these cards are usefull to build a credit history if you move into the credit score system. You can't just apply for any card. You may be better of if you go to your old bank (which have offices in the US) and apply for their card, but it takes time as they need to manually convert your old credit score to your new credit score.
There are better options of you're just starting out.. the Discover secure card, or even capital one.
Everyone needs to learn contract law to avoid being defrauded.
I had a bad experience with Capital One! I cancel and never more!
Tony Marques exactly. They are worse than credit one.
I just got a credit one unsecured card, but im managing my expectations with the card.. It boosted my transunion literally 60 points when it posted so the $75 annual fee was money well spent in my opinion.
Lmao
I try not to use my credit cards and if I do I pay them off quickly so I don't get nailed with the interest
Nice! That’s the way to do it!
Why don't you pay everything with your credit card and just pay it off right away so you get the benefits while building credit?
Even if I you don't care about building credit (I guess you plan on buying your home in cash or renting your whol life)
You should still buy with your credit card assuming there are no fees And you pay on time otherwise you are literally and I do mean LITERALLY lol giving money away ...why?

Having been in so much gambling debts over the years, I almost lost everything. I filled for bankruptcy, plus my home was facing foreclosure.
